This book is based on a blog run by Revd Miranda Threlfall-Holmes
and her teenage son, Noah,
www.TeenagePrayerExperiment.blogspot.co.uk. Miranda and Noah
developed the blog and book as they could find nothing on the
market to introduce teenagers to different ways of praying. Each
chapter of the book introduces a prayer practice, eg using
labyrinths, Lego Bible modelling, prayer beads, prayer walking. It
also includes comments by teenagers who have tried it out and space
for the young person to record their own thoughts.
An adorable story Bible for kids written by best-selling author
Sally Lloyd-Jones. Tiny Bear's Bible is a warm, fuzzy reminder of
how God loves his children - in a format that kids can cuddle and
carry wherever they go. Together with their friend Tiny Bear,
children discover eleven Bible stories along with the loving
reminder: 'No matter what, no matter where, God is with us, Tiny
Bear.'
A chapter book retelling the story of Paul, who encountered many
harsh and demoralising situations on his missionary journeys with
additional related snippets from other Bible stories. But God
cares, providing constant reassurance and enabling Paul to stay
hopeful. A reassuring story to help older children reflect and talk
to people they trust about when their lives get tough and they feel
rejected, providing the support they need to find ways through,
including from God. The 'God cares' series provides a Biblical
approach to discussing emotions and behaviour with children to
nurture an attitude of wellness. Children at different ages
approach things differently in their stages of emotional
development, so this series works at two different levels:
illustrated Readers aimed at 5-7 year olds and Chapter books aimed
at 8+ years. Please note that children progress at different
reading abilities and stages of emotional development so the age
ranges are only a guide for parents and carers. The Bible stories
are retold reflecting on the emotions and encourages children to
discuss and relate this within their situations. Sections at the
back provide a reflective space for children and practical advice
for parents and carers. Debbie Duncan, author of The Art of Daily
Resilience, Brave and Gifted, is a nurse and a teacher, and mother
of four children. She has considerable insight into what
constitutes resilience and bravery: the ability to cope, to stay on
course, to bounce back. In her books she considers what is required
for physical, mental, and spiritual durability, interweaving
biblical teaching, prayers, with personal anecdote and sound
advice. This she now applies specifically to support parents and
carers raising children.
"Much like "The Boy In the Striped Pajamas" or "The Book Thief,""
this remarkable memoir from Leon Leyson, one of the youngest
children to survive the Holocaust on Oskar Schindler's list,
"brings to readers a story of bravery and the fight for a chance to
live" ("VOYA").
This, the only memoir published by a former Schindler's list child,
perfectly captures the innocence of a small boy who goes through
the unthinkable. Leon Leyson (born Leib Lezjon) was only ten years
old when the Nazis invaded Poland and his family was forced to
relocate to the Krakow ghetto. With incredible luck, perseverance,
and grit, Leyson was able to survive the sadism of the Nazis,
including that of the demonic Amon Goeth, commandant of Plaszow,
the concentration camp outside Krakow.
Ultimately, it was the generosity and cunning of one man, Oskar
Schindler, who saved Leon Leyson's life, and the lives of his
mother, his father, and two of his four siblings, by adding their
names to his list of workers in his factory--a list that became
world renowned: Schindler's list.
Told with an abundance of dignity and a remarkable lack of rancor
and venom, "The Boy on the Wooden Box" is a legacy of hope, a
memoir unlike anything you've ever read.

Children can sometimes ask challenging questions like Who created God?
Where is heaven? Why does God let viruses take over? Can God do
anything? Can He bring dinosaurs back to life? If God knows what I
need, why should I pray?
It can be difficult to know exactly what to say to the thoughtful and
sincere questions that children have. Bible Questions and Answers for
Kids is a handy help for those times when it is difficult to know how
to answer. Experienced children’s ministry teacher Dave Strehler
provides age-appropriate and Bible-based answers to more than 80
questions children ask about God, faith and the Bible.
As children explore the answers to their most puzzling questions, they
can answer the quiz questions throughout the book and find the answer
to a mystery message. Get them interested in reading the Bible with
short summaries on each of the 66 books. Each is accompanied by a key
verse that is easy to memorize.
At the back of the book, two fun Word Search activities challenge kids
to find all 66 book names.
A book of simple prayers and reflections that a grown up can say
with a baby and know they are beginning to enact the promises they
made at the infant's christening to help raise them in the
Christian faith. The prayers have been chosen and presented to be
age-appropriate and appealing to young children and adults alike.
This book includes some of the favourite childhood prayers that
older generations will remember as favourites to know by heart.
How and what to teach about religion is controversial in every
country. The Routledge International Handbook of Religious
Education is the first book to comprehensively address the range of
ways that major countries around the world teach religion in public
and private educational institutions. It discusses how three models
in particular seem to dominate the landscape. Countries with strong
cultural traditions focused on a majority religion tend to adopt an
"identification model," where instruction is provided only in the
tenets of the majority religion, often to the detriment of other
religions and their adherents. Countries with traditions that
differentiate church and state tend to adopt a "separation model,"
thus either offering instruction in a wide range of religions, or
in some cases teaching very little about religion, intentionally
leaving it to religious institutions and the home setting to
provide religious instruction. Still other countries attempt
"managed pluralism," in which neither one, nor many, but rather a
limited handful of major religious traditions are taught.
Inevitably, there are countries which do not fit any of these
dominant models and the range of methods touched upon in this book
will surprise even the most enlightened reader. Religious
instruction by educational institutions in 53 countries and regions
of the world are explored by experts native to each country. These
chapters discuss: Legal parameters in terms of subjective versus
objective instruction in religion Constitutional, statutory, social
and political contexts to religious approaches Distinctions between
the kinds of instruction permitted in elementary and secondary
schools versus what is allowed in institutions of higher learning.
Regional assessments which provide a welcome overview and
comparison. This comprehensive and authoritative volume will appeal
to educators, scholars, religious leaders, politicians, and others
interested in how religion and education interface around the
world.
