This book deals with Lord Curzon's policy towards the Princely
States of India. The background of previous Government policy and
Lord Curzon's ideas are examined. His own policy is critically
analysed along with those concerned with the Coronation of Edward
VII with special reference to the role of the Princes and Chiefs.
An assessment is then made of the general problems concerning the
States internal administration and industrial development.

An engrossing biography of Queen Victoria's youngest daughter that
focuses on her relationship with her willful mother--a powerful and
insightful look at two women of significant importance and
influence in world history Beatrice was the last child born to
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Her father died when she was four
and Victoria came to depend on her youngest daughter absolutely,
and also demanded from her complete submission. Beatrice succumbed
to her mother's obsessive love, so that by the time she was in her
late teens she was her constant companion. Although Victoria tried
to prevent Beatrice from even so much as thinking of love, her
guard slipped when Beatrice met Prince Henry of Battenberg. Sadly,
Beatrice inherited the hemophilia gene from her mother, which she
passed on to two of her four sons and which her daughter Victoria
Eugenia, in marrying Alfonso XIII of Spain, in turn passed on to
the Spanish royal family. This new examination will restore her to
her proper prominence--as Queen Victoria's second consort.
This volume offers invaluable new insights into the controversial
lives and history of Prince and Princess Chichibu - two
high-profile members of the Japanese imperial family, both before
and after the Pacific War. Their lives were lived both above and
below 'the clouds', with the princess a commoner in an arranged
marriage and the popular 'sporting prince', dogged by ill health
and his association with the Japanese Imperial Army. At the heart
of the book is a complete translation of Princess Chichibu's
original autobiography, first published in a shorter, condensed
version in 1996 under the title The Silver Drum, together with a
short biography of Prince Chichibu supported by important new data
on his role in the war years, thanks to recent access to new
studies as well as the prince's own writings. Also included for the
first time is a translation of most of Princess Chichibu's
collection of poems which formed part of the original memoir.
It is the tragedy of Queen Mary that today, 450 years after her
death, she remains the most hated, least understood monarch in
English history--remembered best for burning hundreds of Protestant
heretics at the stake. Linda Porter's pioneering new biography cuts
through the myths to reveal the truth about the first queen to rule
England in her own right. Daughter of Henry VIII and Katherine of
Aragon, Mary Tudor was a cultured Renaissance princess who was
brought to the throne by an audacious coup. She made a grand
marriage to Philip of Spain, but her attempts to revitalize England
at home and abroad were cut short by her early death at the age of
forty-two. The first popular biography of Mary in thirty years,
"The Myth of "Bloody Mary"" offers a fascinating, controversial
look at this much-maligned queen.

Description Howard Hodgson's biography of Princess Diana and Prince
Charles is a refreshing approach to the urban myth of two of the
most well known and revered public figures of the late twentieth
and early twenty first century. Hodgson reveals how Prince Charles
cared for Diana in her time of need and how family members support
the suffering of their lovedvones. Hodgson writes with sensitivity,
honesty and pathos. He shows how Prince Charles and his family are
loving people that have sometimes
beenvmisrepresentedvbyvthevworld'svmedia. Few of us can imagine the
mental pressure that results in being destined to be King. Prince
Charles is a heroic figure that cares about the world
andvactsvinvpeople'svbestvinterests. Hodgson explores the mental
frailty of Princess Diana and his view of her having Borderline
Personality Disorder. Chipmunka Publishing supports Howard's book
as we realise that many public figures have mental health issues
and caring issues to deal with. Princess Diana as sufferer and
Prince Charles as carer are no exception. About the author Howard
Hodgson was born in Birmingham in 1950. Educated at private school
in Switzerland and then Birmingham College, he joined the
struggling family funeral directors and turned its fortunes around,
to be named Entrepreneur of the Year 1987 by his peers. After the
hugely successful flotation of the business, Howard retired to
concentrate on writing and broadcasting, with a number of
bestselling books, business documentaries, and having his freelance
journalism published in various newspapers, including the Guardian
and the Daily Mail. He has also worked as a motivational and
after-dinner speaker. Howard met the Prince of Wales through
voluntary work for the Prince's Trust, talking at length with him
and other members of the Royal Family and the household.

In his desperate quest for an heir, King Henry VIII divorced one
wife and beheaded another. The birth of Prince Edward on October
12, 1537, ended his father's twenty-seven-year wait. Nine years
later, Edward was on the throne, a boy-king of a nation in
religious limbo and in a court where manipulation, treachery, and
plotting were rife.Chris Skidmore describes how, in the six years
of Edward's reign, court intrigue, deceit, and treason very nearly
plunged the country into civil war while the stability that the
Tudors had sought to achieve came close to being torn apart. Even
today, Henry VIII and Elizabeth I are considered the two dominant
figures of the Tudor period. But Edward's reign is equally
important. It was one of dramatic change and tumult whose impact is
still felt today--certainly in terms of his religious reformation,
which not only exceeded Henry's ambitions but has endured for over
four centuries since Edward's death in 1553.
