This book is an English translation of Book 21 of the Astrologia Gallica, in which Morin sets forth his method of horoscope interpretation. In the first section of the book he reviews the methods of other astrologers and explains why they are insufficient. In the second section he explains his own method, which is both different from and superior to the traditional methods. Morin was a physician who became the most renowned of all French astrologers. He was appointed Royal Mathematician to King Louis XIII and was summoned to be present at the birth of the royal heir, the future King Louis XIV. His master work, the Astrologia Gallica, was published in Paris in 1661. It consists of a Preface and 26 individual books in the scholarly Latin of the 17th century. Many of these Books are now available in English translation, but Book 21 should be read first as it contains the fundamental explanation of the Morin method. Richard S. Baldwin made this English translation directly from the Latin text.
"Astrological Gastronomy" is based on the thesis that cooking and eating are idiosyncratic and that effectiveness in partaking in culinary activities is enhanced if it is grounded in a culture and complemented by an understanding of personal attributes. This unique approach should appeal to the community of cookbook readers from a variety of perspectives. The idea of "temperamental cooking and eating explained" is an invitation to readers of astrology columns as well as to all observers of popular culture. The focus upon dishes from Africa, Latin America, and Asia should appeal to experimental cooks, while the regional and ethnic character of American recipes should draw the attention of people who prefer provincial cuisine. Finally, the personalization of recipes in the setting of their evolution and relationships with foods in other cultures lends a humane quality to the collection that is enriched with numerous related explanatory notes and suggestions for accompaniments.
Sahl lived in the first half of the 9th century. His five short treatises, Introduction to Astrology, The 50 Precepts, Judgments of Questions, Elections, and The Book of Times, appear to be the principal medieval source of rules for Horary Astrology and Elections. They constitute a corpus of detailed instruction for these two branches of Astrology. James Herschel Holden, the translator, is Research Director of the American Federation of Astrologers and is especially interested in early astrological works.
Sahl bin Bishr (Zahel) and Masha'allah were two of the most influential medieval astrologers from the Arabic period. This essential work in medieval astrology translates 16 of their works, most for the first time, and includes many charts and lengthy introductory remarks and explanations by the translator.
In the first chapters of this book we simultaneously follow two threads. While considering the lives of Richard Wagner, Friedrich Nietzsche, and King Ludwig II of Bavaria in their nineteenth-century incarnations and in earlier incarnations, we examine the planetary configurations accompanying not only their conception, birth, and death, but also various significant events in their lives. In this way we experience how these two perspectives-the biographical and the astrological-weave together and are intimately interconnected. As illuminating as this is, the author also indicates however that astrological calculation alone can never suffice for the truly deep biographical research into karma and reincarnation demonstrated in this work. The author shows that although it is clear that an individual's destiny is connected with the positions of the celestial bodies-that certain regular occurrences are evident-nonetheless no strict regularities exist. He maintains moreover that a certain level of clairvoyance is requisite for any serious astrological study of destiny; even more-that real astrology requires initiation. Such astrological research, when successfully carried out as it is here, relating salient celestial configurations to the life-drama of well-known historical personalities, reads like fine literature. On a practical level this work illustrates several important new tools for the astrologer: how to calculate hermetic charts, how to cast horoscopes not only of birth and death but also of conception (including the astrological significance of the embryonic period between conception and birth), and then also how to apply these various horoscopes in describing the spiral of life that unfolds in seven-year periods during the course of a person's earthly existence. All this reveals profound and fascinating regularities-among them the discovery that stellar configurations during the embryonic period are reflected again and again in the subsequent periods of life. Quite new for most readers will be the author's treatment of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, indicating that the names given these planets are deeply meaningful in the light of spiritual science. To make his case he extends Rudolf Steiner's description of cosmic evolution by drawing upon Greek mythology, particularly Orphic cosmology. This book by Robert Powell is of the greatest possible interest. Professor Konrad Rudni_ki Astronomical Observatory Jagiellonian University Cracow, Poland

In Astrological terms, the prenatal epoch starts at the moment of conception. According to the author, "the prenatal epoch is a certain moment of time, occurring approximately at the commencement of the gestative period... when the degree ascending on the eastern horizon, and the longitude of the moon thereat, interchange with the longitude of the moon and the degree ascending at birth, or their respective opposite points." (pg. 19) What this means is that your prenatal moon was your birth ascendant, and your prenatal ascendant is your birth moon, or the opposite points in the zodiac. There are four possibilities: If the natal moon is above or below the horizon at birth, and if it is increasing or decreasing in light. So what good is this? For one thing, it helps explain infant abnormalities, as well as infant mortality, in cases where there are no other astrological factors. It also aids in reading charts for multiple births: Twins, triplets, quads and quints. Closely allied to the Prenatal Epoch is the Law of Polarity, or sex. Properly calculated, the Prenatal Epoch will not only confirm the sex of the individual, it will also serve to rectify the birth-time itself. Unlike other methods of rectification, where absurdly large time changes can result, Prenatal Epoch calculations correct minor errors in clock-time, thus enabling greater precision in forecasting.

A Rectification Manual presents the first synthesis of medieval astrology's predictive techniques applied to natal chart rectification. For too many years, an incomplete predictive model has hampered efforts by astrologers to compute an accurate birth time. With no consensus on rectification methods, rectified birth times are commonly held in such disrepute they rank on par with dirty data, as defined by Astrodatabank, a leading astrology database vendor. With the recovery of medieval predictive techniques, the era of disenchantment over rectification is now over. Not just Transits, Progressions, and Solar Arcs; but techniques ranging from Fidaria to Primary Directions fill out a complete predictive toolbox. For the first time, proper attribution between life events and corresponding predictive methods is now possible; making accurate rectification an achievable feat. Rectified to-the-second birth times for each American President and preliminary birth times for each First Lady are included. A Rectification Manual is the largest collection of natal charts subjected to medieval predictive techniques available in today's marketplace.

He was the Jeane Dixon of the early 20th century, psychic advisor to world-famous names in politics, entertainment, and royalty. But he lied about his own name, calling himself-when not answering to "Cheiro"-"Count Louis Hamon" though he was of rather more humble origin. So it's your call: Can trust him to accurately assess your character based solely on the month of your birth? In this book, first published in 1912, he "reveals": . which birth month is known for producing people who are "excellent in diplomacy," who "dazzle their listeners by their wit and brilliancy" . which month sees the arrival of those "inclined to become wrapped up in themselves and their own ideas" . when "very lonely" people are born . which month produces "good literary critics" . and more. Irish occultist Cheiro-aka WILLIAM JOHN WARNER (1866-1936)-wrote a number of books, including Palmistry for All and Cheiro's Guide to the Hand. Among his famous followers were Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde.

I once had a nice 20th century ephemeris, with good, clean, easy to read layouts, eclipses at the very top of the page where I could find them, lunar phases and void-ofcourse that I could actually make sense of, with a nice, clear aspectarian at the bottom. It was a French thing (later a Kansas thing - I'm a Kansas boy, I liked that), but on December 31, 2000, it ended. The "replacements" just weren't as good. I've been stranded ever since. So after years of frustration, I decided to make my own ephemeris. Halfway through the Aspectarian overwhelmed the page size. With bigger pages and a bit of extra room, I added Chiron, and I'm glad I did. For the first time in a standard ephemeris, Chiron every three days, its stations and ingresses precisely timed, as well as its declination ('Dec') given monthly. I hope this will encourage further study of this notable celestial body. The ephemeris project took longer and was more work than I expected, but I am pleased with the results. I hope you find it as useful as I do." David R. Roell In this book, daily longitudes and declination, for Midnight, GMT, for the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune Pluto and the true node. Daily Sidereal Time. Horoscopes of Asia, Australia and the Pacific is the second of five volumes on mundane astrology compiled by Marc Penfield. Included in this extensive volume, which is the only astrology book specific to this part of the world, are the charts of the Persian, Japanese and Chinese Empires. Of particular interest are the original charts of Afghanistan, Nepal, Oman and Thailand, the data for which has just recently been discovered by the author.
The eternal "why" has been with us since the dawn of mankind. The oldest books in the world deal with the "why." Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do the good suffer and the evil go free? Why me? Why now? Or why not? All major religions seek to answer the questions of "why." From Job to Lao Tsu, from Buddha to Jesus, the same human condition and the same questions have stared us in the face. There are a myriad of ways to look at the mystery of life, a plethora of ways to deal with it, but the question remains the same. Why? Numerology seeks to answer the age old question by use of patterns and mathematical principles applied to time and the human Soul. These patterns do not care for rich or poor, good or evil; they simply exert their influence as a wave washing and pushing this way or that. What is done with these tides of time becomes a matter of personal choice. It is about these influences and personal choices that this work was written.
Horoscopes of Europe is Marc Penfield's third book on countries of the world arranged by continent. This encyclopedic book is the definitive work on the 51 nations that make up the world's smallest continent, from its largest (Russia) to four diminuitive nations inside Italy, three of them shown here for the first time (Montenegro, Seborga and Sov. Military Order of Malta). This extremely valuable reference work is one that no astrologer interested in mundane, or political, astrology can afford to be without. A century ago, Europe had only 26 countries, most of them monarchies, only half of which remain today. Over the following eight decades, nine more nations were born and with the break-up of the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, 15 more countries emerged onto the world scene. Many countries have two horoscopes-one for its original monarchy, the other for its transition to democracy. France and Germany have many charts from their emergence in the Middle Ages down through a millennia to become the powerhouses of Europe. Charts for the Roman Republic and Empire are also shown. The Eurasian countries of the Caucasus have also been included as they straddle Europe and Asia as do the countries of Russia and Turkey. Charts for more than 135 European cities have also been included, calculated for when they were granted their charters. Appendix A has horoscopes for every member of the European Union, while Appendix B has the author's rectified birth times for most cities shown in this book. This appendix also has the author's speculative birth dates for the cities of London and Paris. Marc Penfield is a double Scorpio with Gemini rising. Known as an historian and researcher and a lover of history and geography, his many years as a travel agent enabled him to journey to many of the places he writes about. Marc Penfield is the author of Bon Voyage (on relocation techniques), Solar Returns in Your Face, Stars over England (with brief bios on its monarchs), Horoscopes of the USA and Canada (now in its 2nd printing), and Horoscopes of Asia, Australia and the Pacific. |
