Astrological Gastronomy - Temperamental Cooking Explained (Paperback): James J Rusk Astrological Gastronomy - Temperamental Cooking Explained (Paperback)
James J Rusk; As told to Amy L. Rusk, Sara M. Rusk
R402 R340 Discovery Miles 3 400 Save R62 (15%) Ships in 10 - 15 working days

"Astrological Gastronomy" is based on the thesis that cooking and eating are idiosyncratic and that effectiveness in partaking in culinary activities is enhanced if it is grounded in a culture and complemented by an understanding of personal attributes. This unique approach should appeal to the community of cookbook readers from a variety of perspectives. The idea of "temperamental cooking and eating explained" is an invitation to readers of astrology columns as well as to all observers of popular culture. The focus upon dishes from Africa, Latin America, and Asia should appeal to experimental cooks, while the regional and ethnic character of American recipes should draw the attention of people who prefer provincial cuisine. Finally, the personalization of recipes in the setting of their evolution and relationships with foods in other cultures lends a humane quality to the collection that is enriched with numerous related explanatory notes and suggestions for accompaniments.

Hermetic Astrology - Vol. 1 (Paperback, 2nd ed.): Robert Powell Hermetic Astrology - Vol. 1 (Paperback, 2nd ed.)
Robert Powell
R871 Discovery Miles 8 710 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book starts with a meticulous explanation of terminology used in astronomy and astrology. This can be considered as a splendid example of how to explain strictly scientific notions to readers who are not necessarily skilled in the exact sciences. From an astronomical point of view, the most interesting part of the work is the presentation of the old Egyptian world system, which the author concludes was the same as the system of Tycho Brahe (1546-1601). He considers this astronomical system not just as a transitory historical conception, but as something which possesses permanent value. The author's deep historical studies made it possible for him also to solve the problem of the interchange of Mercury and Venus, something indicated many years ago by Rudolf Steiner. This is an important achievement in the history of astronomy. The main astrological finding of this book is that the zodiac of the stars (sidereal zodiac) - as employed by the Babylonians, Egyptians, and ancient Greeks - is the authentic zodiac. Moreover, the auther promotes a new type of astrological chart (hermetic chart) for the conception, birth, and death of personalities under consideration, in addition to the customary geocentric horoscope and in place of the heliocentric horoscope promoted by Willi Sucher (1902-1985). With the hermetic chart the auther places a new tool in the hands of astrologers and opens up new possibilities for astrology as a science. On this basis he develops his two "laws" of reincarnation, illustrating them by striking examples. These "laws" express themselves by way of certain planetary configurations coinciding at the moments of birth and death in successive incarnations. He believes that with these "laws" the significance of the tropical zodiac is disproved. This work of Robert Powell, presenting a new astrological system, is a valuable step in the development of a new wisdom of the stars in line with the ideas of Willi Sucher. Willi Sucher's books and articles are full of charm - deep in a spiritual sense - representing a star wisdom in an embryonic state. With this book by Robert Powell, the ideas of Willi Sucher are born as an earthly reality and something new is brought into the world. Hermetic Astrology - Vol. 2 (Paperback, 2nd ed.): Robert Powell Hermetic Astrology - Vol. 2 (Paperback, 2nd ed.)
Robert Powell
R839 Discovery Miles 8 390 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

In the first chapters of this book we simultaneously follow two threads. While considering the lives of Richard Wagner, Friedrich Nietzsche, and King Ludwig II of Bavaria in their nineteenth-century incarnations and in earlier incarnations, we examine the planetary configurations accompanying not only their conception, birth, and death, but also various significant events in their lives. In this way we experience how these two perspectives-the biographical and the astrological-weave together and are intimately interconnected. As illuminating as this is, the author also indicates however that astrological calculation alone can never suffice for the truly deep biographical research into karma and reincarnation demonstrated in this work. The author shows that although it is clear that an individual's destiny is connected with the positions of the celestial bodies-that certain regular occurrences are evident-nonetheless no strict regularities exist. He maintains moreover that a certain level of clairvoyance is requisite for any serious astrological study of destiny; even more-that real astrology requires initiation. Such astrological research, when successfully carried out as it is here, relating salient celestial configurations to the life-drama of well-known historical personalities, reads like fine literature. On a practical level this work illustrates several important new tools for the astrologer: how to calculate hermetic charts, how to cast horoscopes not only of birth and death but also of conception (including the astrological significance of the embryonic period between conception and birth), and then also how to apply these various horoscopes in describing the spiral of life that unfolds in seven-year periods during the course of a person's earthly existence. All this reveals profound and fascinating regularities-among them the discovery that stellar configurations during the embryonic period are reflected again and again in the subsequent periods of life. Quite new for most readers will be the author's treatment of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, indicating that the names given these planets are deeply meaningful in the light of spiritual science. To make his case he extends Rudolf Steiner's description of cosmic evolution by drawing upon Greek mythology, particularly Orphic cosmology. This book by Robert Powell is of the greatest possible interest. Professor Konrad Rudni_ki Astronomical Observatory Jagiellonian University Cracow, Poland

AstroAmerica's Daily Ephemeris 2010-2020 Midnight (Paperback): David R. Roell AstroAmerica's Daily Ephemeris 2010-2020 Midnight (Paperback)
David R. Roell

I once had a nice 20th century ephemeris, with good, clean, easy to read layouts, eclipses at the very top of the page where I could find them, lunar phases and void-ofcourse that I could actually make sense of, with a nice, clear aspectarian at the bottom. It was a French thing (later a Kansas thing - I'm a Kansas boy, I liked that), but on December 31, 2000, it ended. The "replacements" just weren't as good. I've been stranded ever since. So after years of frustration, I decided to make my own ephemeris. Halfway through the Aspectarian overwhelmed the page size. With bigger pages and a bit of extra room, I added Chiron, and I'm glad I did. For the first time in a standard ephemeris, Chiron every three days, its stations and ingresses precisely timed, as well as its declination ('Dec') given monthly. I hope this will encourage further study of this notable celestial body. The ephemeris project took longer and was more work than I expected, but I am pleased with the results. I hope you find it as useful as I do." David R. Roell In this book, daily longitudes and declination, for Midnight, GMT, for the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune Pluto and the true node. Daily Sidereal Time. Complete aspectarian, including declinations. Last aspect and lunar ingress. Lunations and eclipses. Ayanamsa, Julian day, mean node and SVP (Synthetic Vernal Point) given monthly. In the Introductory, the key to computing a daily mean node, an explanation of the Julian day, and the Ayanamsa defined, with instructions how to use it. Additionally, how to compute Nakshatras, with a handy list of all 27 (28). David R. Roell started his study of astrology in 1983. Since 1993, he hasrun The Astrology Center of America.

The eternal "why" has been with us since the dawn of mankind. The oldest books in the world deal with the "why." Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do the good suffer and the evil go free? Why me? Why now? Or why not? All major religions seek to answer the questions of "why." From Job to Lao Tsu, from Buddha to Jesus, the same human condition and the same questions have stared us in the face. There are a myriad of ways to look at the mystery of life, a plethora of ways to deal with it, but the question remains the same. Why? Numerology seeks to answer the age old question by use of patterns and mathematical principles applied to time and the human Soul. These patterns do not care for rich or poor, good or evil; they simply exert their influence as a wave washing and pushing this way or that. What is done with these tides of time becomes a matter of personal choice. It is about these influences and personal choices that this work was written.

Interpreting Empty Houses (Paperback): Ana Ruiz Interpreting Empty Houses (Paperback)

R527 Discovery Miles 5 270 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

How often do we tend to skip the houses without planets when looking at one's birth chart for the very first time? Interpreting Empty Houses provides a detailed account of these houses that are most often overlooked when delineating horoscopes as they, like houses holding planets, provide valuable insight pertaining to the department of life they each rule. The author explains the meanings of each of the twelve houses when empty as determined by the condition of its planetary ruler as it may be positioned throughout the remaining eleven houses of the horoscope. About the Author: Ana Ruiz was born in Spain and resides in Canada. She has been contributing columns and articles on astrology since she began her path down this road of stellar wisdom during the mid-eighties. Her writings have appeared in various newspapers and magazines such as American Astrology and Dell Horoscope. She has also contributed many articles to the American Federation of Astrologers bulletin; Today's Astrologer, as well as a monthly Sun sign column to their Web site. She is also the author of The Spirit of Ancient Egypt, Daily Life in Ancient Egypt, Prediction Techniques Regarding Romance and The Soul of Andalusia. The author's interest in this area of astrology arose from the fact that she has five planets in the 7th house, leaving exactly half of her natal chart with empty houses. The lack of information on this subject, or books for that matter, further inspired Ruiz to study these houses and share her research with the hopes of filling this gap.

Horoscopes of Europe (Paperback): Marc Penfield Horoscopes of Europe (Paperback)
Marc Penfield
R807 Discovery Miles 8 070 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Horoscopes of Europe is Marc Penfield's third book on countries of the world arranged by continent. This encyclopedic book is the definitive work on the 51 nations that make up the world's smallest continent, from its largest (Russia) to four diminuitive nations inside Italy, three of them shown here for the first time (Montenegro, Seborga and Sov. Military Order of Malta). This extremely valuable reference work is one that no astrologer interested in mundane, or political, astrology can afford to be without. A century ago, Europe had only 26 countries, most of them monarchies, only half of which remain today. Over the following eight decades, nine more nations were born and with the break-up of the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, 15 more countries emerged onto the world scene. Many countries have two horoscopes-one for its original monarchy, the other for its transition to democracy. France and Germany have many charts from their emergence in the Middle Ages down through a millennia to become the powerhouses of Europe. Charts for the Roman Republic and Empire are also shown. The Eurasian countries of the Caucasus have also been included as they straddle Europe and Asia as do the countries of Russia and Turkey. Charts for more than 135 European cities have also been included, calculated for when they were granted their charters. Appendix A has horoscopes for every member of the European Union, while Appendix B has the author's rectified birth times for most cities shown in this book. This appendix also has the author's speculative birth dates for the cities of London and Paris. Marc Penfield is a double Scorpio with Gemini rising. Known as an historian and researcher and a lover of history and geography, his many years as a travel agent enabled him to journey to many of the places he writes about. Marc Penfield is the author of Bon Voyage (on relocation techniques), Solar Returns in Your Face, Stars over England (with brief bios on its monarchs), Horoscopes of the USA and Canada (now in its 2nd printing), and Horoscopes of Asia, Australia and the Pacific.

Signs of the Times (Hardcover): Robert Fitzgerald Signs of the Times (Hardcover)
Robert Fitzgerald; Edited by 1stworld Library
R995 Discovery Miles 9 950 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The Signs of the Times is a fascinating account of how time and history follow an astrological structure. This structure consists of astrological ages that are chronicled from before the Age of Cancer, and the invention of agriculture around the world, to the present end of the Age of Pisces, and the much-prophesied Apocalyptic end of the world. Within this pattern an end-time cycle emerges that explains the Apocalyptic energies that we see around us today. Astrology also promises, in the coming Age of Aquarius, a new golden age and gives us indications of what needs to be done to survive this end-time. ~~~~~Robert FitzGerald is an artist, photographer, and theoretical astrologer. For more than 25 years, he has been pushing the boundaries of astrology into theories of religion, mythology, mathematics, genetics, geology and physics. [Name of your book] reveals a revolutionary vision of history based on the ancient cycles of astrology. His vision of life on this planet promises to change the way humanity looks at history and at the world around us.
