We are the always-on society. On the phone, on the computer, on the go. We do email like Pavlov's dogs; the new-mail bell dings, the screen exerts its magnetic pull, and our mouths start watering (at least mentally). We check our phones waiting in line, while talking to others, even while driving. We spend hours in ineffective meetings, re-deciding what we thought we'd decided in the previous meeting. We scurry through the warrens of the Internet, chasing after an elusive link (or the latest sports score) as if it were a white rabbit with a pocket watch. We're trying to ride off in all directions at once. It's neither fun nor efficient. It isn't low-stress, either. It's also avoidable, or at least controllable. What we need is an off switch. Actually, we need a collection of off switches. Just as each room in the house has its own lights with their own off switches, each of these threats to productivity (and sanity) have off switches. This straightforward and highly focused book defines those off switches. It describes how and when to use them, and it does so in simple, readable terms that lead to action and results. Author Steven B. Levy takes a new look at attention, focus, efficiency, and effectiveness. He shows readers how to escape the trap of the tense present, how to stop bouncing from mini-task to mini-task. Reduce interruptions and partial-attention tasks, and we reduce stress as we build effectiveness as workers and as leaders. Levy's book shows us how we can accomplish more with the same amount of effort. We need to find the off switches in our workplaces and working lives, and flip them. That's the process of discovering our work-work balance... which is the first necessary step in achieving a long-term work-life balance.
"The bad news is time flies. The good news is you're the pilot." (Michael Althsuler) In this, her second book, Joy Kelshall explores the concept that successful time management is simply a way of life. It is a continuous process of planning and organizing your time. This will involve your attitude and habits which will directly affect your ability to succeed. It includes: Definitions of time management, various established systems of time management, problems that occur resulting from one's attitude and habits, planning & prioritizing tasks, delegating, time wasters and benefits. "Embracing Success Through Time Management" reveals how "being rich is having money" but, "being wealthy is having time." (Margaret Bonnano) In addition this book reinforces, "You might well remember that nothing can bring you success but yourself." (Napoleon Hill)
He had found his remedy for the summer slump. Within a week he had installed a system of large overhead fans and an exhaust blower and saw his production figures mount to the winter's best average. From careless, indifferent workers, on edge at trifles and difficult to hold, his force developed steadiness and efficiency. Not only was the output increased twenty per cent over previous summers, but the proportion of spoiled work was considerably reduced.

The fight against chaos is universal, whether it be the outward chaos of disorder and frenzy or the inward chaos of fear and self-criticism. Even if we already know how to do better, something falls apart between our good intentions and getting it done. Most books on organization just add more rules to your life, whether it be another plan, another calendar, or another method. This book will show you a different, better way that is grounded in the grace of God. Jesus taught that true change doesn't come by the addition of more rules, but from the inside out, with a change of the heart that only the gospel can bring. When you identify the heart problems behind the chaos in your life, lasting change can happen. This will not only reduce the stress in your life, but help you be more effective in your service to God.

Steve Chandler, bestselling author of 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself, has created this newest title for the many of us who are time challenged throughout the day. Chandler's Time Warrior gives us a revolutionary, non-linear approach for dealing with time, as bold as it is fresh and new. Forget whatever "guidebooks" you may have read on time management or personal productivity. Time Warrior is much more than tips and tricks. Steve Chandler has given us an invitation - as well as a challenge - to become something far greater than we are now. To become, in essence, a "style tracker" rather than a "time tracker." Tracking your cognitive style is what makes you a Time Warrior, for only your unique cognitive style can liberate you from the treadmill of linear, limited time. This book takes you on a 101-chapter journey intended to transmute the base metals of ordinary linear time-consciousness into the gold of the Time Warrior's non-linear vision. You will learn to create for yourself a newfound and more powerful cognitive style that will make time tracking, multi-tasking and other clock-subservient behaviors an unsavory and distant memory.
An experienced trainer demonstrates that the most important element of success is not putting in longer hours or expending more energy--it is keeping everything in balance. He outlines five key life components that must be brought into harmony and kept on track, or productivity will inevitably slow to a crawl; once this balance is acheived, less effort is needed to maintain stability and productivity increases. This principled yet practical motivational program is bolstered with anecdotes, research, and many years of personal observation and interaction with leaders and executives in training seminars and radio broadcasts. Individuals from all walks of life--sales representatives, managers, secretaries, educators, small-business owners, and stay-at-home parents--can make this program their own and increase effectiveness in every aspect of their lives.

Personal Kanban is about choosing the right work at the right time. Recognizing why we do the things we do. Understanding the impact of our actions. Creating value - not just product. For ourselves, our families, our friends, our co-workers. For our legacy. Personal Kanban takes the same Lean principles from manufacturing that led the Japanese auto industry to become a global leader in quality, and applies them to individual and team work. Personal Kanban asks only that we visualize our work and limit our work-in-progress. Visualizing work allows us to transform our conceptual and threatening workload into an actionable, context-sensitive flow. Limiting our work-in-progress helps us complete what we start and understand the value of our choices. Combined, these two simple acts encourage us to improve the way we work and the way we make choices to balance our personal, professional, and social lives. Neither a prescription nor a plan, Personal Kanban provides a light, actionable, achievable framework for understanding our work and its context. This book describes why students, parents, business leaders, major corporations, and world governments all see immediate results with Personal Kanban.
