IF UFOS DON'T EXIST, THEN THEY CAN'T CRASH. But something did crash near Corona, a tiny town not far from Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. And that crash has been dissected and debated ever since. Aviation/science writer Don Berliner and nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman, the original civilian investigator of the so-called Roswell incident, have delved into the controversy to find the truth. They sifted through once-classified government documents, interviewed military and civilian witnesses, pieced together evidence, considered alternative theories, and concluded that a UFO crashed near Corona-and the U.S. government knew it and covered it up. Crash at Corona proves that what was found in the New Mexico desert wasn't a weather balloon or a secret weapon-it was a UFO. "One of the more credible books arguing the existence of UFOs...Most arresting of all is the testimony of those who handled the debris, who had no opportunity to compare notes, yet have described the materials ...in almost identical language."-Publishers Weekly DON BERLINER has written more than 300 magazine articles and 25 books on aviation history and space and was also a staff writer for the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP). He is board chairman of the non-profit Fund for UFO Research, Inc., and is a delegate to the UFO Research Coalition. STANTON T. FRIEDMAN is a nuclear physicist who has worked for General Electric, General Motors, Westinghouse, and other corporations. He is also the author of TOP SECRET/MAJIC and has appeared on Larry King, Unsolved Mysteries, and Nightline, and was involved with the documentaries UFOs Are Real and Flying Saucers Are Real. He was the final speaker at the fiftieth anniversary conference at the International UFO Museum and Research Center at Roswell, and has given more than 700 lectures on the subject of UFOs.
Many people have precognitive dreams, others hear voices or see things once in a while, and some get a funny feeling in their bones telling them that something is wrong. It tends to run in families. In August of 2000, shortly after my sister-in-law, Diane, died, dark shadows started to attack my daughter Mary during the night. At first, fearful of sounding crazy, she didn't tell anyone. Who would believe her? When Mary finally got up the nerve to tell her roommate about the attacks, she was shocked to discover that Lauren had seen things too. Then another friend, Ned, told her evil spirits surrounded her. How would he know that? When Mary called to tell me that weird things had been happening to her and her friends, paranormal activity was furthest from my mind. They all liked to party so I reasoned that it must be drugs and alcohol causing this hysteria. But when Mary moved out, the weird things stopped for them, not for her. As the attacks escalated, she could see the shadows gather in the corner of her living room. She started hearing voices, and the TV and radio were nothing but static. Mary hid her problems from me as for long as she could, but I knew there was something seriously wrong. I was having dreams that she was in danger. Even then, I refused to believe her problems were paranormal. Logically, I wanted them to be fixable issues, like bad friends, or a sleep disorder, or even mental illness. That all changed when I finally realized that Mary really was being attacked by evil spirits. My daughter's story is about that year.

It was the winter of 1947 when C. David Priest, then five years old, first hears his aunt Rosalee tell the vivid and frightening story of the Whippanini man, a strange presence that only comes out when darkness falls. Terrified and curious all at the same time, it is later that same night after David falls asleep that he sees the Whippanini man for the first time, forever transforming his innocent life. As the spectral presence haunts David in his sleep, his aunt relays more stories that cause him to begin to question everything in his life-and all who have passed away before him, including a cousin reported to have looked just like David. But at night, nothing can stop Whippanini from invading David's dreams, at least temporarily, and seemingly warning him of tragic events about to occur. As the years pass and Whippanini disappears, David wonders if the presence was just a figment of his childhood imagination. Little does he know that the Whippanini man is about to make his presence known again. "The Whippanini Man" shares one man's struggle with a fearful manifestation as he walks back into his past and he hopes to find his true self.
This volume provides an in-depth discussion on the central question - how can people express and survive dissent and disagreement in confined habitats in space? The discussion is an important one because it could be that the systems of inter-dependence required to survive in space are so strong that dissent becomes impossible. John Locke originally said that people have a right to use revolution to overthrow a despotic regime. But if revolution causes violence and damage that causes depressurisation with the risk of killing many people, is it even permissible to have a revolution? How then are people to express their liberty or dissatisfaction with their rulers? The emergence of structures of dissent and disagreement is an essential part of the construction of a framework of liberty in space (revolution is just the extreme example) and thus the topic deserves in-depth and immediate attention. Even today, the way in which we assemble organisations and corporations for the government and private exploration of space must take into account the need for mechanisms to allow people to express dissent.

In recent years, the paranormal has gained new footing as reality television has grabbed onto this research and created a cultural frenzy around it. There are those who are skeptics, those who believe, and those who seek to prove the existence of the paranormal. In The Double-Blind Ghost Box, authors Shawn Taylor and Daniel Morgan share their research and personal experiences with the paranormal, focusing on the development and use of the ghost box, a device that can establish a two-way communication beyond death's veil. The Double-Blind Ghost Box reviews the process of Taylor and Morgan's studies of the device, along with how they determined its usefulness in researching the paranormal. They explore the history of the ghost box and the issues arising in today's ghost box methods, and they offer methods for conducting an objective ghost box investigation, processing ghost box evidence, analyzing the findings, and presenting the results to clients. Taylor and Morgan also discuss the different spirits an investigation might uncover and future ghost box applications and technologies. Sharing actual transcripts of investigations, The Double-Blind Ghost Box works toward communicating the existence of the paranormal through objective research. Shawn Taylor has a technical background in computer hardware, software, programming, digital media, Six Sigma problem solving, statistical analysis, psychology, and counseling. Daniel Morgan earned degrees in behavioral science and electrical engineering.
