An admirable collection of Crowley's aphorisms-- Witty, subtle, and instructive paradoxes that challenge and exhilarate.
Personalized magick is the most powerful magick. The Untamed Witch empowers you to use your own instincts, intuition, and personal environment in your witchcraft. Witchcraft is not one defined, arbitrary path. Rather, it is a diversity of practices that you can curate and align with based on your lifestyle and unique gifts. Moreover, those practices are not meant to be done the same way by every witch. Someone else's love spell is how they conjure love. Why use lavender in a ritual if it isn't native to your surroundings or you simply don't like it? This guide gives you the insight and tools to undomesticate your craft from formulaic-to inspired-practice. The Untamed Witch also outlines: Tools and practices to access the subconscious How to work with the life, death, rebirth cycle How to use elemental and land witchcraft Ancestry work and communicating with spirit guides and entities With this book at your side, learn to use your instincts to rewild your magick.
Based upon ancient knowledge of the rhythms of the earth and the Bagua (or great circle of life), this book teaches modern readers how to map out Bagua areas in the home and organize each room to harmonize with natural forces in order to promote health, prosperity, productivity, and well-being. In simple, straightforward terms, Wiccan High Priestess Alexandria describes the paths of earth energy, and explains how to flow with, not against, these natural currents. Each cardinal compass point is linked to associated elements, colors, and attributes. When the associations of all directions are brought into balance, then the fifth element (spirit) manifests through the entire house. Ideas are provided for rituals, altars, and enhancements to promote Chi, or flow of energy, within every room and throughout the house. From painting a wall to dusting a houseplant, and from situating a home office to consecrating a Wealth and Prosperity area, here are easy methods of improving life through design, decoration, an placement.
Religion, spiritual practice, a moral code for living, the means to enhance and take control of your life: Wicca can be all of these things. Many misunderstand what it means to follow Wicca; yes it can involve 'magic' and the worship of the Horned God (along with the equally important Triple Goddess), but it is also a beautiful, life-enhancing way of living that venerates the cycles of nature and the seasons and promotes positive and constructive values. It is a relatively modern faith, dating back to the early twentieth century, and yet it draws on ancient beliefs grounded in nature. This unique and illuminating book will introduce you to the wonders of Wicca. Covering everything from the Wiccan deities and calendar to getting started with spellwork, natural healing and divination, and accompanied by magical and stunning contemporary artwork, this book will bewitch and enlighten you.
The seventeenth-century man of letters John Aubrey is remembered, above all, for his great biographical work, Brief Lives. He also wrote pioneering works dealing with education, geology, languages, archaeology, history, place-name study and folklore. Aubrey was a Fellow of the Royal Society. Other early members of the Royal Society included Robert Boyle, the greatest scientist of his generation and Henry More, one of England's leading philosophers. Aubrey, Boyle and More promoted new thinking about the natural world and championed the use of experimental science. They also believed in demons and angels and the authenticity of witchcraft. Aubrey recommended ways of countering witchcraft through horseshoe magic and suggested that gifted schoolboys should be taught to communicate with good spirits through the use of crystal balls. Boyle publicly endorsed the reality of witchcraft based on a case study from France. Henry More attempted to explain scientifically how witches could leave their bodies behind them when attending sabbat meetings. The Last Witch Craze tells the story of these men and others who attempted to reconcile science and sorcery. Their ideas were taken very seriously by others and provided an intellectual justification for the last lethal witch craze in Britain and America. Two fellows of the Royal Society - Joseph Glanvill and James Long - actively participated in witch hunts. In New England, those who persecuted the witches of Salem were fully aware that several distinguished members of the Royal Society of London were believers in the reality of witchcraft. The book also reveals that John Aubrey had a dark secret. His magical notebook survives in the archives of Oxford University. It makes clear that Aubrey personally practised a form of black magic and used charms to conjure up demons.

How was magic practiced in medieval times? How did it relate to the diverse beliefs and practices that characterized this fascinating period? This much revised and expanded new edition of Magic in the Middle Ages surveys the growth and development of magic in medieval Europe. It takes into account the extensive new developments in the history of medieval magic in recent years, featuring new material on angel magic, the archaeology of magic, and the magical efficacy of words and imagination. Richard Kieckhefer shows how magic represents a crossroads in medieval life and culture, examining its relationship and relevance to religion, science, philosophy, art, literature, and politics. In surveying the different types of magic that were used, the kinds of people who practiced magic, and the reasoning behind their beliefs, Kieckhefer shows how magic served as a point of contact between the popular and elite classes, how the reality of magical beliefs is reflected in the fiction of medieval literature, and how the persecution of magic and witchcraft led to changes in the law.

What makes this book unique? The world of the gray witch has been largely avoided, misrepresented, or glossed over with various books geared gingerly towards 'protection magic'. These books, though informative and well written as they may be, have totally missed the spirit of the gray witch - - who she really is, how she relates to the world of shadow and light, and exactly what she's willing to do to stand her ground. In our society 'dark' is automatically viewed as 'evil'; and 'light' is automatically viewed as 'good'. We're expected to live completely within one realm and to totally avoid the other. This creates imbalance and is a great injustice to the true spirit of the ancient wise woman. This book puts matters to right and gives the public a view of just what the gray witch is - and what she isn't. The gray witch does not live in a world of chaos or unbridled black magic. She has a code of honor, a sense of propriety, and a relevance in today's society. |
