This collection of forty elegant botanical cards draws inspiration from healers, helpers, and shaman who walk the thin places between one world and another. These wise folks find the plants of their practice at the edges of cultivated fields as well as deep in the woods, wilds, and along shorelines. From artist Siolo Thompson, the creator of the popular Linestrider Tarot (978-0-7387-4829-0), the lovingly illustrated cards in this deck each include an oracle property that provides guidance or meditative focus to a seeker. Includes plant diagrams, recipes, and folklore.
In order to attract readers, it was not uncommon for magical texts of the 16th century to take on the name of a notable figure. Such is the case with "The Book of Secrets of Albertus Magnus", whose secrets are, in fact, a compilation from a number of different sources by an anonymous author who was, according to editors Best and Brightman, probably one of Albertus Magnus' followers. Though it "...pretends to be a product of his experimental school among the Dominicans at Cologne", for the most part it has a more colloquial voice than that of Albertus Magnus and so provides a far more accurate portrayal of the magical culture that predominated in the 16th century. The secrets contained are divided into five distinct parts: Of the Virtues of Herbs, Of the Virtues of Stones, Of the Virtues of Beasts, Of the Planets, and The Marvels of the World.
In The Spirited Kitchen, practicing witchcraft means nurturing a relationship with the seasons and drawing on ancestral roots to find magic in small details. Here, simple ingredients-apples, hazelnuts, wheat-become magical elements of cooking and ritual crafting. The result is an enchanting culinary journey through the pagan Wheel of the Year, from the Halloween festivities of Samhain to the return of autumn at Harvest Home. With each season, readers can cook feast dinners to celebrate nature's cycles. In winter, Cranberry Custard Tarts encourage health and well-being; in spring, Deep Dish Nettle Quiche ushers in resilience after cold months and Calendula Chicken embodies the abundance of summer. Along the way, ritual crafts like Salt Spells, hand-woven Offering Baskets and a Maypole Chandelier bring extra symbolism to the table. Complete with stunning photographs and a glossary of spirited symbols and ingredients, this book is a bewitching guide to seasonal magic.

Storied Selves focuses on feminist Witches and their constructions of identities through the use of opposition and speculation as technologies of identity, particularly (post)colonial, maternal, and holistic identities. Through these identity formations, feminist Witches are invested in changing consciousness to create a just and sustainable world-an act which is fundamental to their practices of magic. Looking at three novels-Barbara Walker's Amazon, Cynthia Lamb's Brigid's Charge, and Starhawk's The Fifth Sacred Thing-Klassen asks three questions: how are technologies of identity deployed; where are feminist Witches most successful in promoting and/or creating models for a just and sustainable world; where and how can feminist Witches push these technologies of identity even further to create continuing oppositional and speculative identities which could lead to a just and sustainable world?
This is an efficient working manual for beginning students that provides a complete program leading to self-initiation. Savedow explains the principles of magick, including step-by-step instructions for initial preparation, meditation, and astral projection.

The Tarot Spellbook is a journey through the 78 cards of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, providing a unique spell that corresponds with each card. Connecting with the 78 cards of the tarot in a meaningful way can be overwhelming, which can lead to scouring reference books and memorizing meanings rather than actually using the cards themselves. The Tarot Spellbook gives you a fun way to learn the cards-and a practical way to work with them beyond divination and reading. Each of the 78 spells in The Tarot Spellbook is categorized into one of eight popular spell categories:self, change, love, money, career, wellness, protection, and home. Because the lessons taught by tarot cards are those that apply to all aspects of life, from karmic soul lessons to the smaller daily events, the spells in The Tarot Spellbook cover everything you need for a variety of common life situations. Looking to manifest your desires? See the Magician card and spell. Need to find clarity? Work with the Moon card and spell to dispel illusion. Each entry outlines the card's overall meaning, and provides 2-3 journal questions to aid in introspection, reflection, and further connection to the tarot card. Each spell connects to a dominant theme of the card, helping you connect to the card on a personal level, and furthering your knowledge of witchcraft. From candle magick, to spell jars, to ritual baths, and more, The Tarot Spellbook utilizes spellwork of all kinds to truly aid you in expanding your magickal practice on all fronts.

The etiology of the Wimbum people in the Western Grassfields of Cameroon is described through an examination of the way in which the meanings of key concepts, used to interpret and explain illness and other forms of misfortune, are continually being produced and reproduced in the praxis of everyday communication. During the course of numerous dialogues, witchcraft, a highly ambivalent force, gradually emerges as the prime mover. As destructive cannibals or respectable elders the witches are the ultimate cause of all significant illness, misfortune and death, and as diviners they are also the ultimate judges who apportion moral responsibility. Even the ancestors and the traditional gods turn out to be fronts behind which the witches hide their activities. The study is on three levels: a medical anthropological exploration of explanations of illness and misfortune; a detailed ethnography of traditional African cosmology and witchcraft; and an examination of recent theoretical issues in anthropology such as the nature of ethnographic fieldwork and the possibility of dialogical or postmodern ethnography.
A fiery, intersectional guide for activists and witches alike, Revolutionary Witchcraft is an empowered introduction to the history and practice of politically-motivated magic. From the politically charged origins of the word "witch" to the present-day magical resistance, this bold handbook explores the role of witchcraft in our modern world. Author, activist, and practicing witch Sarah Lyons takes readers on a journey through a leftist history of magic -- from the witch hunts of early modern England, through the Salem Witch Trials, and up to our present moment. Pairing mystical acts, including sigil magic and soul flight, with core organizing tactics, like power mapping and protests, Revolutionary Witchcraft offers a blueprint for building a politically grounded magical praxis. From social justice to environmental activism, this radical re imagining of political activism addresses today's most pressing problems with empowering, inclusive rituals and magical actions. Each chapter introduces a key concept, like dreaming big, experiencing magical initiation, and joining the revolution, supported by a surprising historical case study on the power of mystical action. Full of actionable ideas for magical organising, and an appendix packed with customised spells, Revolutionary Witchcraft is the perfect companion for the magical uprising. |
