The Horn of Evenwood, Also called "The Master's Book of Conjury" or
"The Witchfather's Bloodless Bones," is a true book of Art, a
Grimoire of sorcerous operations, charms, and devices of Witchery.
Based on well-worn patterns and operations of Traditional sorcery
and European Witchcraft from the 16th-19th centuries, this manual
of magical arts provides a complete working system of Craft-sorcery
which taps into the numina of the British Isles folk-tradition, the
Luciferian mysteries of the Witchmaster, traditional wortcunning,
the Rades of Edric and Godda, and the hidden roads to
Faery-Elfhame. Included are incantations, conjurations,
instructions in the application of the Ten Pillars of Sorcery, "The
Service of Sigils" working, and the operations of "Biting the
Tongues of Serpents," "Summoning the Witch-Dream by Moth Flight,"
"Binding the Lovers One to the Other," "The Fruitful Working of the
Womb-Seed," and "A Pavis from Foul Imprecations," all of which are
intended to instruct an initiate in the use of this timeless arcane
system.
Village wisewomen and men, the community's witches, have always
helped to heal wounded lives. When disaster strikes, such as
serious illness or some kind of abuse or loss, or when we're
struggling through things such as divorce or family conflict,
today's hedge witchcraft can still give us the means to help
ourselves or others. There are, for example, spells to banish the
spirits of cruelty or injustice. There are ways of countering the
ill effects of spiteful thoughts which others may hold about us. We
can rebuild our sense of ourselves by magic that holds us true to
our real life purpose, throughout any crisis. What is presented
here is not superficial and not a shortcut. Rather, it is a
powerful process, a method which can be adapted to any situation
where help may be needed.

Initiating readers in the fascinating and complex history of
witchcraft, from the goddess mythologies of ancient cultures to the
contemporary embrace of the craft by modern artists and activists,
this expansive tome conjures up a breathtaking overview of an
age-old tradition. Rooted in legend, folklore, and myth, the
archetype of the witch has evolved from the tales of Odysseus and
Circe, the Celtic seductress Cerridwen, and the myth of Hecate,
fierce ruler of the moonlit night. In Witchcraft we survey her many
incarnations since, as she shape-shifts through the centuries,
alternately transforming into mother, nymph, and crone-seductress
and destroyer. Edited by Jessica Hundley, and co-edited by author,
scholar, and practitioner Pam Grossman, this enthralling visual
chronicle is the first of its kind, a deep dive into the complex
symbologies behind witchcraft traditions, as explored through the
history of art itself. The witch has played muse to great artists
throughout time, from the dark seductions of Francisco Jose de Goya
and Albrecht Durer to the elegant paean to the magickal feminine as
re-imagined by the Surrealist circle of Remedios Varo, Leonora
Carrington, and Leonor Fini. The witch has spellbound through
folktales and dramatic literature as well, from the poison apples
of The Brothers Grimm, to the Weird Sisters gathered at their black
cauldron in Shakespeare's Macbeth, to L. Frank Baum's iconic Wicked
Witch of the West, cackling over the fate of Dorothy. Throughout
this entrancing visual voyage, we'll also bear witness to the witch
as she endures persecution and evolves into empowerment, a
contemporary symbol of bold defiance and potent nonconformity.
Featuring enlightening essays by modern practitioners like Kristen
J. Sollee and Judika Illes, as well interviews with authors and
scholars such as Madeline Miller and Juliet Diaz, Witchcraft
includes a vast range of cultural traditions that embrace magick as
spiritual exploration and creative catharsis. About the series The
Library of Esoterica explores how centuries of artists have given
form to mysticism, translating the arcane and the obscure into
enduring, visionary works of art. Each subject is showcased through
both modern and archival imagery culled from private collectors,
libraries, and museums around the globe. The result forms an
inclusive visual history, a study of our primal pull to dream and
nightmare, and the creative ways we strive to connect to the
divine.

WITCHCRAFT AND THE BLACK ART - A BOOK DEALING WITH THE PSYCHOLOGY
AND FOLKLORE OF THE WITCHES By J.W. Wickwar. Originally published
in London in the early 1900s, this scarce early work on Witchcraft
is both expensive and hard to find in its first edition. Obscure
Books Press have now republished it, using the original text and
artwork. The old craft of the witches was a close order. Its
members were sworn to secrecy. Although some records were kept,
very few of these still exist today. In early ecclesiastic and in
mediaeval literature, however, references to witchcraft are
numerous. This book endeavours to set out in an interesting manner
the story of the craft from earliest times. The book's three
hundred and twenty pages contain fourteen comprehensive chapters:
Witchcraft: A Primitive Cult. - Initiation and Ceremony. - Spells,
The Evil Eye, and Possession. - Practical Witchcraft. - Witchcraft
on the Continent. - Werewolves and Vampires. - Blood and Fire in
England. - Demons and Mascots. - Witch Hunting cameos. - A Typical
English Witch Trial. - Witchcraft in America. - Witchcraft
Phantasmagoria. - A Typical Witch Tract. - The Last Phase. This
book will prove a fascinating read for anyone interested in the
occult arts, and will provide much information to historians of
this hitherto arcane subject. "What are these So wither'd, and so
wild in their attire, That look not like the inhabitants o' the
earth. And yet are on't?" Banquo.
