Nicolas Horthy was head of state of Hungary for 25 years.
Conservative yet highly popular among his countrymen in his time,
history has treated him unfairly. No other country in the first
half of the 20th century had a leader who is equally vilified by
Communists as well as Fascists as Horthy. For this edition over 600
footnotes, from sources ranging from Eichmann to Wallenberg, were
added to his original 1953 autobiography.
