Originally published in 1908 as part of the Pitt Press Series, this
book by publisher and poet Frank Sidgwick gathers together the text
of 34 traditional English and Scottish ballads for use in schools.
Sidgwick also includes notes on each poem with translations for
some of the more archaic words in the text and brief comparisons
with songs and myths from other countries. This book will be of use
to anyone with an interest in English and Scottish poetry or the
history of British education.
