'I know I have a book in me.' 'I've always wanted to be an author.' 'People often ask me when I'm going to write my book.' 'I have a story to tell, but I never seem to make time to write.' These are just a sampling of the messages Kelly Notaras hears every day from would-be authors around the globe. Life coaches with new methods for living on purpose... healers who've learned how to prevent disease and increase life force... everyday heroes and heroines who have made it through difficult circumstances and want to inspire others to do the same. In today's tumultuous world, we need these voices in the marketplace. Moreover, publishing a book has never been as simple, accessible, and affordable as it is today. So why are so many thought leaders, healers, and change-agents stuck at the starting line? This book will light the way - offering a simple, step-by-step path for turning your transformational idea or story into a finished book as quickly as possible. With humor, encouragement, and common sense, book industry veteran Kelly Notaras demystifies the publishing process so you can get started, keep writing, and successfully get your wisdom onto the page. First, you'll get clear on your motivation for writing a book. Then you'll craft a powerful, compelling hook and the strong internal structure every successful book needs. Kelly goes on to offer advice for handling resistance, writer's block, and other obstacles that can keep you from sitting down to write. Lastly, you'll discover how to take your finished manuscript to the next level, whether through traditional publishing or self-publishing - so that you can share your message with the world!

Finally!!!

Kelly Notaras is a true coach out there in the world to help any aspiring authors in the world with a no-bullshit attitude. She spills the beans on what publishing is really like. She doesn't sugar-coat your dreams or the process thereof. She brings out the big guns when it comes to marketing your book, the editors' true thought process of why they would want your book or why not. This book is not just about patting you on the back and telling you how you are awesome and how you can become the next best New York best seller! No, she takes you from the start of your novel idea, she strips it naked and allows you to see what the publishing business is really like. What editors want. Bonus features for me were where she shows how to best outline your story idea. The name you choose and why. Hook features. How you should write to that one person you truly want to impact their lives. Writing a book to 'whomever' isn't going to sell your book. Publishers want YOU to tell them why you are choosing that specific target audience and why your book will sell above all the rest. Remember, selling books is a business. A profit. It's quite rare if you're going to find that publisher who wants to help you because of you. Unfortunately, we as authors are a number, a number with a possible cash tag on our potential books. It's not always comfortable or nice to hear what a process it will be to publish your book. We want it all smooth sailing, right? Kelly brings out all the stops and shows you from beginning to end what to do and what not to do with your book. I'd say you take her advice and see where that leads you, instead of ignoring possible pitfalls only to start from the beginning again. This is a book I'll keep with me always in any writing adventure I begin. It helps to know the secrets and thoughts of our potential editors, publishers, and target audience. It gives us the edge to do things right from the beginning and it truly allows you to be able to successfully publish your book this time and make it big this time.
