The years from 1969 to 1975 were a time of great change for buses
in England and Wales as operations were consolidated and
rationalised under the publicly owned National Bus Company. Many
old, familiar operators such as Hebble, Midland General and
Brighton, Hove & District were lost and new ones such as Alder
Valley and London Country Bus Services were set up. Liveries were
standardised across the NBC fleets, as were the vehicles being
used. Explore the early years of the National Bus Company with this
wonderfully evocative collection of period colour and black and
white photographs compiled by transport historian Kevin Lane.
