Bodacious and Miss Ally is set in the year 1950, in a fictitious town in southeast Texas. For decades, great revivals swept across this nation, especially in a large area of the south. This area came to be known as the Bible Belt. There were "churches on every corner," and most of them held at least two revivals each year, some of them in tents. These meetings lasted for two weeks, but were often extended at the request of those attending. People frequented the revivals of other churches, as well as their own. This constant reminder of God's Word and of his will helped keep his children strong. They literally "spake often one to another," and "thought upon his name." Young people, and even children, could be found discussing scriptures and praying together. People tried to carefully follow the rules set down by God in the book he had written for his children. Not everyone who attended the revivals responded positively to them, but multiplied thousands did. I was among this number, as I accepted Christ as Lord of my life in a 1946 summer revival. Our lives were forever changed, and our eternities were joyfully settled in one instant, when we chose to accept God's unspeakable gift-eternal life. I offer you, here, a glimpse into those long ago days, as we see God at work in the lives of Bodacious and Miss Ally.
