His early life in London and Berlin, analysis of key works, his social milieu. Compares Bacon with predecessors Goya, Egon Schiele, Pablo Picasso, and contemporaries Frank Auerbach and Lucian Freud. There is also a review of Francis Bacon at The Hayward Gallery London in 1998.
