This work presents, for the first time together, two early modern
everyman plays in which the radical changes of the Reformation era
are reflected- a distinctive excerpt from a history of subject
matter that reaches from the late antiquity to Hofmannsthal and
further to Philip Roth. The introduction, translation and
commentary make the works available to a broader audience. The
volume also provides insight into the conditions of literary
communication in the early modern period and the correlation
between New Latin and Early New High German literature.
