Editions of ninety-one papyri associated with the day-to-day
administration of the Monastery of Apollo at Bawit during the VIII
century, seventy-eight of which are published for the first time.
Many of the papyri are orders issued by the head of the monastery
to various subordinates, and the texts' contents are minutely
analyzed in the copious introduction. The majority of the texts
were written in Coptic script, with a very few in Greek; the Coptic
texts, however, often include a Greek word or phrase.
