Photographed in the red light districts of Paris, Vicky
Wetherhill's first book captures the very essence of the peep show
- its titillation, its voyeurism, its seedy and secretive nature.
This is a world of shadows - of life on the margins - revealed
through voluptuously curtained neon-lit doorways, with their
strategic gaps and seductive folds. Footprints, shadows and patches
of light provide further visual clues of the provocative symbolism
at work in these images as even the clientele become anonymous
markers of this voyeuristic process.
