This authoritative Research Handbook offers wide-ranging coverage
of both traditional and emerging topics dealing with the regulation
of ocean space and highlights the key academic debates around ocean
governance. It provides a formidable interface between the 1982
UNCLOS Convention and the international law regulating ocean
governance, while influencing its further evolution through
suggestions for future research in the field. The Research Handbook
on Ocean Governance Law demonstrates that governance of natural
resources is instrumental for international peace and security, and
that humankind's well-being and its very resilience is
intrinsically linked to the good governance of the ocean's natural
resources. Contributions from leading experts in the field include
an innovative combination of both legal doctrine and case studies,
with chapters looking into issues such as human rights,
sustainability, maritime trafficking and terrorism. Providing a
comprehensive and integrated approach towards ocean governance law,
this important book will be an ideal resource for academics,
researchers and students interested in environmental and
international law. Legal advisors and policy makers working closely
with ocean and maritime affairs will also find this a useful
reference.
The issue of sustainability has become increasingly important at a
global level, prompting governments, international organizations,
and private and public organizations to seek ways to contribute to
sustainable development. However, the lack of accountability and
transparency in organizations has made it difficult to identify,
measure, and disclose their sustainable practices and impacts.
Additionally, there is a lack of consensus on the determinants and
impacts of the extent and quality of non-financial information
reporting. Enhancing Sustainability Through Non-Financial Reporting
is a book edited by Albertina Monteiro, Ana Pinto Borges, and
Elvira Vieira that offers a comprehensive analysis of the
relationship between sustainability/ Environmental, Social and
Governance (ESG) practices and reporting, and the accounting,
finance, and management fields. The book provides a high-quality
vehicle for the dissemination of new knowledge and tendencies,
using both qualitative and quantitative methods. It welcomes and
encourages articles from both academics and practitioners, with
empirical and theoretical articles accepted to reach various
audiences and a diversity of topics. The book aims to better
understand the contributions of organizations to sustainable
development, the level, determinates, and impacts of non-financial
information reporting, the impact of sustainability reporting
standards on the extent and quality of non-financial reporting, and
the role and challenges of accounting, finance, management, and
auditing. It is an essential resource for academics and
practitioners in accounting, finance, and management, as well as
other interested groups and individuals seeking to enhance
sustainability through non-financial reporting.

Elgar Research Agendas outline the future of research in a given
area. Leading scholars are given the space to explore their subject
in provocative ways, and map out the potential directions of
travel. They are relevant but also visionary. This timely Research
Agenda explores and proposes critical lines of research to support
understanding of the conditions under which urban tourism
contributes to the development of urban systems, and what can be
done to create and conserve these conditions. Chapters highlight
conceptual discussions, concrete case studies and policy reviews to
address the issues surrounding the economic, environmental and
social impacts of tourism on cities. Analysing the trends that have
characterized urban tourism in the past, the Research Agenda looks
ahead to those that may influence it in the future, including the
impact of Covid-19. Chapters further offer a thorough
conceptualization and innovative definitions of the phenomenon of
urban tourism. The critical issue of the sustainability of tourism
development in cities is also discussed in depth. The Research
Agenda provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the
urban tourism debate, making it a critical read for urban studies
and tourism scholars. The detailed case studies from across four
continents will also be beneficial to policymakers and urban
planners dealing with tourism development.

Children and youth belong to one of the most vulnerable groups in
societies. This was the case even before the current humanitarian
crises around the world which led millions of people and families
to flee from wars, terror, poverty and exploitation. Minors have
been denied human rights such as access to education, food and
health services. They have been kidnapped, sold, manipulated,
mutilated, killed, and injured. This has been and continues to be
the case in both developed and developing countries, and it does
not look as if the situation will improve in the near future.
Rather, current geopolitical developments, political and economic
uncertainties and instabilities seem to be increasing the
vulnerability of minors, especially in the wars and armed conflicts
currently being waged not only in Europe, but on almost every
continent. How can risks children and youth are exposed to in times
of transition be reduced? Which role do state agencies,
non-governmental organisations, as well as children’s coping
strategies play in mitigating the vulnerabilities of minors? This
volume addresses risks to which children and young people are
exposed, especially in times of transition. The focus is on
different groups of children in the European wartime and post-war
societies of the Second World War, 'occupation children' in
Germany, teenage National Socialist collaborators in Norway, and
more recent cases such as child soldiers, refugee children, and
children of European “Islamic State†fighters. The
contributions come from international scholars and different
academic disciplines (educational and social sciences, humanities,
law, and international peace and conflict studies) and are based on
historical, quantitative, and/or qualitative analyses.
While the contemporary era has witnessed a series of spectacular
failures with severe and widespread global consequences, failure is
still broadly understood on an individual level, while its broader
causes and consequences receive little attention. This book
reconceptualises failure as a method for characterising and
critiquing systems and institutions on both a global and a local
level. It defines global failure as comprising global inequality,
economic crisis, and ecological disaster, and as a condition which
informs and is informed by localised failure. It examines the
negotiation between global and local failure in narratives of
failed quests by four contemporary authors: Cormac McCarthy, Julia
Kristeva, Michael Ondaatje, and Basma Abdel Aziz. As a genre, the
quest narrative is associated with the idea of hard-won success.
The failed quest narrative, or the narrative of the failed quest,
is therefore the ideal vehicle through which to examine the
socio-political and institutional conditions of failure. Primarily
a contribution to the field of world literature, this book is also
relevant to those with an interest in the contemporary novel,
failure studies, and the quest narrative.
As Dominant Western Worldviews (DWWs) proliferate through ongoing
structures of globalization, neoliberalism, extractive capitalism,
and colonialism, they inevitably marginalize those deemed as
'Other' (Indigenous, Black, Minority Ethnic, non-Western
communities and non-human 'Others', including animals, plants,
technologies, and energies). Environmental Education (EE) is
well-positioned to trouble and minimize the harmful human impacts
on social and ecological systems, yet the field is susceptible to
how DWWs constrain and discipline what counts as viable knowledge,
with a consequence of this being the loss of situated knowledges.
To understand the relationships between DWW and situated knowledges
and to thread an assemblage of ontological views that exist in
unique contexts and nations, authors in this book take up
decolonizing methodologies that expand across theories of
Indigenous Knowledges (IK), Traditional Ecological Knowledges
(TEK), two-eyed seeing, hybridity, and posthumanism. As EE opens to
emplaced and situated socio-cultural and material stories, it opens
to opportunities to attend more meaningfully to planetary social
and ecological crisis narratives through contingent,
contextualised, and relevant actions.
Luxury is no longer a privilege of the high-net-worth individuals.
It is now accessible to all. This has become possible because the
essence of luxury has changed: from something based upon
materialism and conspicuous and hedonic consumption to one that
embraces enrichment and experiences for the consumers. This
evolution creates challenges for luxury brands and for the managers
of luxury brands. Building Consumer-Brand Relationship in Luxury
Brand Management is a collection of innovative research that
focuses on the conception and marketing of luxury as an experience
and explores more integrative and comprehensive approaches to
modeling and understanding the consumer-brand relationship with
luxury brands and their sustainability in a global and
multicultural world. Highlighting a broad range of topics including
digital marketing, consumer demand, and social responsibility, this
book is ideally designed for marketers, brand managers, consumer
analysts, advertisers, entrepreneurs, executives, researchers,
academicians, and students.
The current pandemic intensifies underlying structural bottlenecks
and systemic inefficiencies. At the same time, it provokes the
hasty adoption of innovations made possible by the already
accelerating technological developments before being accompanied by
necessary institutional and systemic adjustments. This leads to
multidimensional crises as well as new socioeconomic challenges and
prospects globally. The book enables readers to anticipate
separate, yet interrelated functional spheres of global
socioeconomic reality, understand their structure, and recognize
potential vulnerabilities and opportunities in light of the current
pandemic and the induced transformations. It tackles global aspects
of the crisis by means of standard and innovative economic policies
at the national and international level, faces challenges by
businesses and revealing models of effective transformations and
strategies in the present circumstances, and discusses individual
and collective societal problems in light of sustaining our
constantly upgrading humanitarian values in the 21st century. It is
ideal for academicians, master's or Ph.D. degree students,
university teachers, and scientists working in the field of
management, business, economics, computer science, and engineering.
