In a business world predominantly oriented toward the future, it
has paradoxically become ever more common that companies turn
towards their pasts. This book empirically explores the phenomenon
of organizational remembrance from a holistic cultural perspective.
Based on a twelve-month ethnographic case study conducted at the
headquarters of the German automobile company, AUDI AG, this study
dissects the relationships between memory, identity, and image in a
corporate setting. The greater aim in doing so is twofold: First,
this study examines exactly why and how a company officially
manages its past in terms of 'history' and 'tradition.' And second,
this study scrutinizes what effect organizational remembrance has
on the workforce - how it impacts their collective identification
with a corporate community and influences their understanding of
their daily working life. By investigating the interplay between
different stakeholder groups, as well as their practices, media,
mental models, and other vehicles of remembrance, an integrated
account is offered which makes sense of the complex cultural forces
at work in the corporate handling of the past, the present, and the
future.
No-till - a method of growing crops and providing pasture without
disturbing the soil - has become an important alternative to
standard farming practices. In this comprehensive guide to
successful no-till vegetable farming for aspiring and beginning
farmers, author Daniel Mays, owner and manager of an organic
no-till farm in Maine, outlines the environmental, social, and
economic benefits of this system. The methods described are
designed for implementation at the human scale, relying primarily
on human power, with minimal use of machinery. The book presents
streamlined planning and record-keeping tools as well as marketing
strategies, and outlines community engagement programs like CSA,
food justice initiatives, and on-farm education.

Description: Johannine Literature offers some of the most
beautiful, majestic, and profound theology contained within the
entire biblical text. Within its works can be found the highest
Christology, the capstone of eschatology, and the heartbreaking
struggles of a community committed to Christ. However, it does not
always get the attention it deserves in New Testament studies. This
book seeks to remedy that by drawing together some of the most
respected biblical scholars to bring their expertise to bear on
various aspects of Johannine studies that are contained within the
Gospel, Epistles, and the Apocalypse. These contributions have been
collected as a Festschrift in honor and celebration of the career
of Benny C. Aker, a preeminent scholar, teacher, and mentor.
In January of 2008 I drove six hundred miles in order to make
dinner for Andrea, the object of my fondest high school longings
more than thirty-two years before. A week later she asked me to
marry her. And then I found out that I had cancer.
