Direct marketing is a fast-growing and dominant domestic
marketing instrument in many countries. Direct marketing follows
the path of the rapid advances of globalization: international
direct marketing (IDM) is already a multi-billion dollar business
and an attractive instrument for foreign market entry and
international customer communication.
This book is the first to focus exclusively on IDM, combining
state-of-the-art knowledge, best practice and unique data: The
first part is a comprehensive, well-structured review, covering
relevant sources ranging from academic journals to practitioner
magazines. The second part consists of best practice examples of
various aspects of IDM. The third part contains a summary of a
proprietary consumer study on direct marketing attitudes and
affinities across 24 countries in North America, Europe and Asia.
The book provides the reader with a comprehensive and
easy-to-understand guide to international direct marketing.
'This is a book primarily for engineers and materials scientists
either researching or developing Li-ion energy storage batteries
who want to understand some of the critical aspects of Li-ion
battery technology and gain knowledge about the latest engineering
designs and latest materials being used in Li-ion batteries. Good
technical depth, many tables of data, and many illustrations
combined with references at the end of each chapter for further
in-depth study make this book worth reading to gain a quick
understanding of the current state-of-the art in Li-ion battery
technology and the fundamental issues and challenges facing Li-ion
battery designers.'IEEE Electrical Insulation MagazineThis richly
illustrated book written by Professor Kai Peter Birke and several
co-authors addresses both scientific and engineering aspects of
modern batteries in a unique way. Emphasizing the engineering part
of batteries, the book acts as a compass towards next generation
batteries for automotive and stationary applications. The book
provides distinguished answers to still open questions on how
future batteries look like.Modern Battery Engineering explains why
and how batteries have to be designed for successful
commercialization in e-mobility and stationary applications. The
book will help readers understand the principle issues of battery
designs, paving the way for engineers to avoid wrong paths and
settle on appropriate cell technologies for next generation
batteries. This book is ideal for training courses for readers
interested in the field of modern batteries.
Management education growth and the rise in accompanying business
schools over the last few decades are fuelled by global economic
development, coupled with the promise of success in business
careers. Recently, questions have been raised about the value and
relevance of a traditional business school education - so what does
the future hold for traditional business schools? In this book, we
examine the current model and the pressure points of business
schools by considering the evolution of - and the various value
chains that are associated with - business school offerings
(including MBA, undergraduate, pre-experienced and executive
programmes). We also offer insight on funding and value
orientation, and the potential challenges these may raise for some
schools. To highlight these challenges, we provide a strategic
group framework for business schools and review the implications of
future strategies for these groups. Finally, after reviewing the
current landscape of business school mergers, alliances and
failures, we reflect on innovation considerations for the business
school business model. Management education is changing, and
business schools must be ready to re-evaluate their strategies for
growth... and, in some cases, survival.

The transformation towards electric mobility requires the highest
quality mass production of battery cells. However, few research in
battery cell engineering focus beyond new cell chemistries. As a
consequence, there exists a huge gap between basic battery research
and comparable scientific approaches to battery cell production.
This handbook bridges the gap between basic electrochemical battery
cell research and battery cell production approaches. To run
lithium-ion battery gigafactories successfully and sustainably,
high-quality battery cell production processes and systems are
required. The Handbook on Smart Battery Cell Manufacturing provides
a comprehensive and well-structured analysis of every aspect of the
manufacturing process of smart battery cell, including upscaling
battery cell production, accompanied by many instructive practical
examples of the digitalization of battery products and
manufacturing systems using an integrated life cycle perspective.

This book is written in honour of Hans-W. Micklitz for his jubilee
70th birthday and the closure of his twelve-year term as the Chair
for Economic Law at the European University Institute (EUI).
Hans-W. Micklitz has gained international recognition for
dedicating his extensive and fruitful career to diverse areas of
law: European Economic Law, European Private Law, National and
European Consumer Law, Legal Theory, theories of Private Law and
Social Justice. This book is a product of the collaborative
endeavors of its contributors, who all have a special connection
with Hans W. Micklitz as his doctoral supervisees or research
assistants. The collection of twenty chapters is to be read as the
influence of Hans's dialogues in the early stage of the academic
career of thirty-one young legal scholars. The volume is divided
into three sections devoted to subjects that have received Hans's
attention while at the EUI: EU Consumer Law (part I); European
Private Law and Access Justice (part II); the CJEU between the
individual citizen and the Member States (part III).
