This book presents serious academic scholarship on ""Buffy the Vampire Slayer"". It differs from other works because it uses ""Buffy"" as a primary text and not as a secondary instrument to explore other concepts. In doing so, it demonstrates that popular culture studies should be approached with the same serious attention paid to classic philosophy and other long-established fields. Essays assemble the ""Buffy"" canon and explore how ""Buffy"" treats Shakespeare, comics, power, sisterhood, apocalyptic revisionism, folklore, feminism(s), redemption, patriarchy, identity and education.
Fantasy adventure based on the bestselling series of novels by Cassandra Clare. Clary Fray (Lily Collins) is an ordinary teenage girl living in New York, but when her mother is attacked by a demon in her home Clary learns she is descended from a secret race of half-angel Shadowhunters who are fighting an ancient battle protecting the earth from evil forces. As Clary is then introduced to the world the Shadowhunters and other forces inhabit, she must grow to accept her new identity and work at saving her mother before it's too late...
Comedy adventure about four middle-aged bikers trying to regain their youth. Woody (John Travolta), convinces his three buddies to take a road trip from Cincinatti to Mexico to escape their mundane existence. Finally arriving in New Mexico, they stop off at a bar, not realising that it belongs to the 'Del Fuegos', a local biker gang. When Dudley (William H. Macy) has his bike stolen by the leader of the rival gang, Woody decides to get it back, accidentally blowing up the bar in the process. With the 'Del Fuegos' in hot pursuit, it's not long before the 'Wild Hogs' are cornered, and have to make a stand.
Third instalment in the 'K-9' series, directed by Richard J. Lewis and starring James Belushi, Gary Basaraba and Kim Huffman. Detective Dooley (Belushi) and his police hound Jerry Lee finally hand in their badges but continue their fight against crime as private detectives. When they interrupt a computer company robbery on their final night as official police officers, it leads to all kinds of trouble. It seems that Jerry Lee has managed to swallow a microchip discarded by the thieves, and this provides the crimebusting duo with the vital first clue in their attempts to unravel the mystery.
Yam Laranas directs this horror following an ex-con as he attempts to readjust to life on the outside. Bobby (Jesse Bradford) has just been released from prison having served the sentence he was given for murdering a man who tried to rape his girlfriend Alyssa (Amelia Warner). He returns to his mother's apartment in New York City, which has been vacant since her death. Bobby finds the apartment strange. He discovers drops of blood that appear to be fresh and hears continual arguments from the apartment next door, which suggest to him that a man is abusing his wife and daughter. When he finally snaps and calls the police things become even stranger: the apartment next door is vacant, the police tell him. Where, then, are the noises coming from?
When Frank Walsh, a hunter and collector of rare and exotic animals, bags a priceless white jaguar for a zoo, he figures it'll be smooth sailing to a big payday. But the ship bearing Frank's precious cargo has two predators caged in its hold: the cat, as well as a dangerous assassin being extradited to the U.S. After the assassin breaks free - and then frees the jaguar - Frank feverishly stalks the ship's cramped corridors in hot pursuit of his prey, right up until the thrilling, unpredictable climax.
