Even if you found success in some of those jobs, maybe there was still this small-or maybe not so small-voice in the back of your mind urging you to move on and find something more. Kinny uses his personal experiences to show you how to use your God-given gifts and past to design your present and future. Follow God's Plan and Stop Making Sense demonstrates that making even small changes can lead you to a better life. Manage your perceptions in a way that empowers you. In 1990, IndustryWeek magazine established a prestigious new competition, the America's Best Plants Award, designed to recognize and honor the top manufacturing operations in the nation. To date, sixty-two companies—from such well-known names as Hewlett-Packard, Sony Electronics, Steelcase, and Xerox to smaller companies such as Zytec, John Crane Belfab, and Lord Corporation—have earned the illustrious designation of being one of America's Best Plants. Now these award-winning plants are profiled in America's Best, a unique reference that takes an in-depth look at leading-edge manufacturing practices. Detailing the individual components of world-class manufacturing, while providing personal experience from the field, America's Best offers practical guidelines that will help managers make strategic decisions regarding their own organizations. The book begins with the nine essential components of world-class manufacturing, their individual make-up, and how they interact with each other. These components—customer focus, quality, agility, employee involvement, strong supplier relations, technology, new product development, green manufacturing, community involvement—come together to create the basis of manufacturing excellence and will serve as a road map for improving your organization, your products, and your people. Profiles of each of the 62 Best Plant winners celebrate individual excellence in the field. Highlighting these profiles are on-site visit reports by IndustryWeek editors; detailed coverage of the many unique programs, tools, and techniques currently in use at each plant; and a listing of contact information for individual plants. Also included is a complete set of the winners' statistical measurements for use in benchmarking your own organization, as well as an assessment survey to help you determine how your plant measures up against the best. Filled with helpful data, advice, "lessons," and firsthand stories from Best Plant leaders and employees, America's Best will be essential reading for managers in executive suites to the shop floor who are charged with the success of their manufacturing organization. This is a complex volume that combines a good deal of survey data on Bakassi and its populations with more ethnographically based insights into the conditions of the Bakassi communities. The book is the outcome of research carried out by Fongot Kini between 2004 and 2009. The work is intended to serve as first hand exhaustive information on the live situation in the contested Bakassi Cameroon-Nigeria border region. The term Bakassi engenders multiple meanings loaded with many conflicting emotional, spiritual and material interests. Native inhabitants are systematically disinherited of their ancestral cultural heritage and socio-economic resources. They are bastardised, humiliated and scammed by unscrupulous opportunists who deliberately misidentify them with intentions of dispossessing them of their ancestral lands and natural resources. Overall the author is in sympathy with the Bakassi who he argues have been marginalised and neglected by the Cameroon state. In particular, the value of the indigenous communities in terms of local economies as well as securing this vital border area has not been recognised and various external groups have been either allowed or encouraged to settle there to both the detriment of local populations and to the security of the region.

"Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism was intended to be the ultimate success formula. Rand taught us how to achieve our individual dreams and in doing so, showed us how to effortlessly contribute to the well-being of everyone else. Rand wanted each of us to become free traders and money-makers and she urged us to stand among the world's prime movers. If you take the time to understand and act on her ideas, perhaps you will fulfill that role. In that case, you will certainly understand why Ayn Rand matters." -- Ayn Rand and Business In an astonishing personal journey that spanned much of the twentieth century, Ayn Rand transformed herself from a shopkeeper's daughter in Communist Russia into one of the world's leading advocates of laissez-faire capitalism. The author of two popular novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, Rand remains a compelling and influential figure two decades after her death. And, Objectivism, the controversial philosophy she built upon the tenets of reality, reason, and self-interest, in still passionately debated. Rand celebrated business, especially the heavy industries that dominated America in her lifetime, and the entrepreneurs who founded and built them. Ayn Rand and Business interprets the fiction and philosophy of this self-proclaimed "radical-for-capitalism" for today's business reader. Rand's life and work offer insightful lessons for managers, traders, and entrepreneurs. The novelist-philosopher's three values and seven virtues of Objectivism provide a virtual blueprint for building a successful career. Rand's ideas about the driving force of innovation, the employer-employee relationship, and the critical need for long-term vision and purpose are as relevant as the latest business news headlines. Read Ayn Rand and Business and find out why Rand's ideas continue to matter in today's business world. Ayn Rand and Business is a 43,000-word book, written in three parts. Part 1 includes a biography of Rand and an introduction to Objectivism. Part 2 is dedicated to the application of Objectivism to personal and career success. Part 3 explores the application of Objectivism to corporate success. "The authors have done an excellent job of stripping Rand's] thinking down to the bare bones, illustrating the logic of her approach to life. Indeed, anybody thinking of tackling either of her great works would find it worthwhile to read this first." -- The London Sunday Times "Hopefully, in the future, this book will become a dog-eared standard title on everyone's business bookshelf." -- Economic Affairs
