This handbook provides a unique and in-depth survey of the current
state-of-the-art in software engineering, covering its major
topics, the conceptual genealogy of each subfield, and discussing
future research directions. Subjects include foundational areas of
software engineering (e.g. software processes, requirements
engineering, software architecture, software testing, formal
methods, software maintenance) as well as emerging areas (e.g.,
self-adaptive systems, software engineering in the cloud,
coordination technology). Each chapter includes an introduction to
central concepts and principles, a guided tour of seminal papers
and key contributions, and promising future research directions.
The authors of the individual chapters are all acknowledged experts
in their field and include many who have pioneered the techniques
and technologies discussed. Readers will find an authoritative and
concise review of each subject, and will also learn how software
engineering technologies have evolved and are likely to develop in
the years to come. This book will be especially useful for
researchers who are new to software engineering, and for
practitioners seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Upper secondary science is the bridge to science-related careers
and thereby to human capital formation in science and technology.
Quality rather than quantity is what counts at this level and
teacher quality is a major determinant. This book looks at upper
secondary science teacher quality in eighteen countries from
affluent Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
members to very poor countries. The yardsticks applied to teacher
quality are academic and professional education and training,
professional practice including the resource base, continuing
professional development, and science teacher associations. All
country case studies are written to facilitate internal
cross-referencing, thereby accentuating the comparative nature of
the volume. The book ends with an 'investment guide' that focuses
on where and how money is best spent in relation to building up and
maintaining a quality upper secondary science teaching force.
The essays in this collection address specific themes in Volume I
of Marx's "Capital." Although the essays can be read independently,
they present complimentary perspectives on issues at the cutting
edge of recent scholarship on Marx's work. Although all Parts of"
Capital I "are discussed, the book is not intended to be a
textbook. It will be read by specialists in the field as well as
graduate students in the history of economic thought, political
economy and philosophy.
Beloved as "the Little Flower of Jesus," Marie-Franoise-Thrse
Martin-or SAINT THRSE OF LISIEUX (1873-1897)-is remembered today
for this, her spiritual autobiography. Before her too-young death
from tuberculosis at the age of 24, she put down in words her
simple yet profound approach to the worship of God, called her
"little way," a philosophy of everyday goodness and appreciation of
life and nature that anyone may follow. Remarkably, her deep piety
grew from her own life-long suffering, from the loss of her mother
at age four to her own ill health, and through them her dedication
to obedience of and surrender to God's will. A favorite of
spiritual seekers, this is a lovely work of devotion and
prayfulness.

Since 1990, thousands of Hungarians have vacationed at summer camps
devoted to Hungarian folk dance in the Transylvanian villages of
neighboring Romania. This folk tourism and connected everyday
practices of folk dance revival take place against the backdrop of
an increasingly nationalist political environment in Hungary. In
Movement of the People, Mary N. Taylor takes readers inside the
folk revival movement known as dancehouse (tanchaz) that sustains
myriad events where folk dance is central and championed by
international enthusiasts and UNESCO. Contextualizing tanchaz in a
deeper history of populism and nationalism, Taylor examines the
movement's emergence in 1970s socialist institutions, its
transformation through the postsocialist period, and its recent
recognition by UNESCO as a best practice of heritage preservation.
Approaching the populist and popular practices of folk revival as a
form of national cultivation, Movement of the People interrogates
the everyday practices, relationships, institutional contexts, and
ideologies that contribute to the making of Hungary's future, as
well as its past.

How do we move from defensive tactics that respond to the latest
stages of capitalist urbanization, to transformative, strategic
revolts, attacking the root causes and putting into practice
alternative forms of urban life? One proposal for such a
revolutionary alternative to capital's organization of our lived
environment has been the commons, wherein inhabitants communally
control the multi-faceted conditions that make up their daily
reproduction. As a district behind the train station in the
post-socialist city of Vilnius Lithuania faces gentrification, an
autonomous community center there has sought to use commoning to
resist. Taken up in the former state-socialist Eastern Block,
commoning practices are embraced as a method for criticising the
vicious wave of enclosures that began after the fall of
state-socialism while at the same time not relying on the heavily
stigmatized politics of state-socialism. Emerging from a process of
thinking together, The Commonist Horizon features five
interventions by movement thinkers. Beginning in the post-Soviet
city of Vilnius, the dialogical process stretches outward to two
other formerly state-socialist countries, and then beyond. Speaking
from their experiences in social movement formations, the authors
take up the lived experience of building what might be called urban
commons, offering insights on the conceptual and political
potentials and limitations of this terminology and associated
practices.

Leon Chesley's Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy was initially
published in 1978. Four decades later, hypertension complications
in pregnancy are still a major cause of fetal and maternal
morbidity and death, especially in less developed nations. It is
also a leading cause of preterm birth now known to be a risk factor
in remote cardiovascular disease. Despite this, hypertensive
disorders remain marginally studied and management is often
controversial. Chesley's Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy, Fifth
Edition continues its tradition as one of the beacons to guide the
field of preeclampsia research, recognized for its uniqueness and
utility. This revision focuses on prediction, prevention, and
management for clinicians, and is an essential reference text for
clinical and basic investigators alike. It provides a superb
analysis of the multiple topics that relate to hypertension in
pregnancy, especially of preeclampsia.
