J ess and the Christmas Surprise is the third book in 'The J ess Mystery Series'. J ess and her best friend Ruby and the rest of Class Three are very excited about the Christmas Concert at Oakhill Primary School. When the girls discover an old well in the school grounds, they think that it's a magic wishing well and they have to test its powers. Joe and the twins, Lucy and Tom, warn the girls that they will get into trouble. Jess and Ruby make several magic wishes and strange things start to happen. When the end of term tests disappear and someone vanishes, they wonder what they have done. After more magic wishes, the school is broken into and the head teacher has to close the school. Will the school open again? Will there be anymore magic?

'Jess and the Ghost of Black Rock Castle' is the first story in 'The Jess Mystery Series' for children aged 7 years and older. Jess and her best friend Ruby are going on a school trip to 'Black Rock Castle' with Joe, the twins Lucy and Tom, and the rest of Class Three from 'Oakhill Primary School'. Jess is sure that the castle is haunted by a ghost, but their teacher Mrs Green says that there are only ghosts in stories. Class Three visit the Castle dungeons and the Great Hall. Children go missing, Joe causes trouble and Lucy thinks that she has seen the ghost. There are lots of spooky experiences and Jess and Ruby are frightened and challenged by the ghost in the Ghost Tower. Do they escape and does the ghost really exist?
