Management of Marketing (Paperback): Paul Reynolds, Geoff Lancaster Management of Marketing (Paperback)
Paul Reynolds, Geoff Lancaster
R1,259 Discovery Miles 12 590 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The text provides information on the core elements of the subject of marketing without the depth that often surrounds these to ensure that the basic concepts are easily identifiable and accessible. Students on MBA courses often do not have time to read a long text as they are studying many subjects, therefore they require a good, basic guide pitched at the appropriate level to be able to be absorbed quickly but still provide enough of a strategic element to stretch them.Written by a successful author team, Management of Marketing covers the key topics of the marketing component of an MBA course and provides a good balance of theory and application to ensure both aspects of the core concepts are covered.

The Ironmasters' Bags (Hardcover): Paul Reynolds The Ironmasters' Bags (Hardcover)
Paul Reynolds
R703 Discovery Miles 7 030 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

During its development and at the time that the south Wales iron industry was at its most successful the only way (other than by personal contact) in which contact between the different branches of the industry could be maintained was by letter. Thus the postal service - both the General Post Office and a multiplicity of private posts - made a vital contribution to the success of the industry which so far has received little attention. This work traces the development of the postal service in the south Wales valleys from its primitive state in the mid-18th century to what had become a recognisably modern postal service a hundred years later. It is based on information derived from the archives of the Post Office itself and of the various iron companies, from contemporary newspapers and from oral tradition recorded by later historians in the Valleys.

Investigating Information Society (Paperback): Hugh MacKay, Wendy Maples, Paul Reynolds Investigating Information Society (Paperback)
Hugh MacKay, Wendy Maples, Paul Reynolds
R1,429 Discovery Miles 14 290 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This lively and engaging text introduces students to the major debates and data on the information society and at the same time teaches them how to research it. It gives an overview of:

* theorists of the information society, particularly Manuel Castells and Daniel Bell
* social research methodologies, including positivist, interpretivist, critical and cultural
* qualitative and quantitative research methods and criteria for social science evaluation.

Drawing on a rich body of empirical work, it explores three core themes of information society debates: the transformation of culture through the information revolution, changing patterns of work and employment and the reconfiguration of time and space in everyday life. In exploring these, the reader is introduced through case-studies, activities, and questions for discussion, to the practicalities of doing social research and the nature of social science argument and understanding.

Sex and Diversity in Later Life - Critical Perspectives (Paperback): Trish Hafford-Letchfield, Paul Simpson, Paul Reynolds Sex and Diversity in Later Life - Critical Perspectives (Paperback)
Trish Hafford-Letchfield, Paul Simpson, Paul Reynolds
R784 Discovery Miles 7 840 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Despite increased awareness of sexual diversity, older people's accounts of sex and intimacy remain marginalised. This edited volume addresses diversity in sexual and intimate experience later in life (50+) and captures international research and analysis relating to intersectional identities. Contributors explore how being older intersects with differences of ethnicity, gender, sexuality and class. Offering a critical focus and original contribution to an emerging, although still relatively neglected field, this collection extends knowledge concerning intimacies, practices and pleasures for those thought to represent normative, non-normative and 'new normative' forms of sexual identification and expression.

Paul Simpson, Paul Reynolds, Trish Hafford-Letchfield
R783 Discovery Miles 7 830 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Despite evidence of a more sexually active 'third age', ageing and later life (50+) are still commonly represented as a process of desexualisation. Challenging this assumption and ageist stereotypes, this interdisciplinary volume investigates the experiential and theoretical landscapes of older people's sexual intimacies, practices and pleasures. Contributors explore the impact of desexualisation in various contexts and across different identities, orientations, relationships and practices. This enlightening text, reflecting international scholarship, considers how we can distinguish the real challenges faced by older people from the prejudices imposed on them.

Hispania and the Roman Mediterranean, AD 100-700 - Ceramics and Trade (Hardcover): Paul Reynolds Hispania and the Roman Mediterranean, AD 100-700 - Ceramics and Trade (Hardcover)
Paul Reynolds
R5,247 Discovery Miles 52 470 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This important and substantial scholarly book, well illustrated with tables, line drawings and maps, is the first to gather together and review the evidence for trends in production of table wares and amphora-borne goods across the Iberian Peninsula and Balearics from the second to the seventh century AD. In it Paul Reynolds analyses trends in Iberian exports across the Roman Empire and offers a detailed synthesis of Roman trade in fine wares, coarse wares and amphora-borne goods and shipping routes, from the Black Sea and eastern Mediterranean to the western Empire, the Atlantic coast and Britain. The book draws on both published excavation reports and papers, and provides new, unpublished data from the author's past and continuing work in Beirut, Athens, Butrint, Durres, Carthage, 'Lepcis Magna' and 'Zeugma', to provide an unprecedented overview and synthesis.

The monk Rodulfus Glaber is best known for his Five Books of Histories, a major source for events in the first half of the eleventh century, and valuable above all for revealing the mental furniture of an eleventh-century monk - for his account of the millennium, of relics genuine and false, of church-building, and visions of saints and demons. This edition, the first since 1866, presents the only critical text of the Histories, accompanied by a complete translation and a full historical commentary. Glaber also wrote a Life of his mentor, St William of Dijon, the renowned monastic reformer. The Life is reprinted after the Histories, again with translation and notes. The evidence for Glaber's life, and the value of his work are discussed in a Historical Introduction.

Making Sense of Sexual Consent (Hardcover, New Ed): Paul Reynolds, Mark Cowling Making Sense of Sexual Consent (Hardcover, New Ed)
Paul Reynolds, Mark Cowling
R4,155 Discovery Miles 41 550 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The issue of sexual consent has stimulated much debate in the last decade. The contributors to this illuminating volume make sense of sexual consent from various conceptual standpoints: socio-legal, post-structural, philosophical and feminist. The volume comprises a range of studies, all based around consent within a specific context such as criminal justice, homosexuality, sadomasochism, prostitution, male rape, learning disabilities, sexual ethics, and the age of consent. It is the first collection to publish exclusively on issues of sexual consent, and both makes sense of sexual consent in contemporary society and guides debate towards better consent standards and decisions in the future. Making Sense of Sexual Consent will excite considerable discussion amongst academics, professionals and all those who think that freedom to make decisions about our sexual selves is important. It will set the agenda for debate on sexual consent into the 21st Century.

The Entrepreneurial Process - Economic Growth, Men, Women, and Minorities (Hardcover): Paul Reynolds, Sammis B. White The Entrepreneurial Process - Economic Growth, Men, Women, and Minorities (Hardcover)
Paul Reynolds, Sammis B. White
R2,951 Discovery Miles 29 510 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Entrepreneurship is an extremely important, but little understood, component of the U.S. economy. This book aids that understanding by exploring the challenges and outcomes of the start-up phases of new firms. This is the first detailed, large-scale, longitudinally-based analysis of the entrepreneurial process. Three representative samples of new firms and two representative samples of nascent entrepreneurs (those attempting to start new firms) are used to consider a variety of factors that affect successful completion of the major transitions in the life of new businesses: conception, birth, and early development (survival and growth). Surprisingly, a substantial minority of start-ups become operational new firms. Among the many lessons the authors learn are that although new firm growth appears to reflect many factors, initial size is of special consequence. Not only are many general insights for entrepreneurs revealed, but the authors also pay special attention to the involvement of women and minorities in entrepreneurship and suggest effective government policy for different stages in the entrepreneurial process.

Inducible Gene Expression in Plants (Hardcover): Paul Reynolds Inducible Gene Expression in Plants (Hardcover)
Paul Reynolds
R3,380 Discovery Miles 33 800 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The use of inducible gene expression systems is a rapidly developing area of plant molecular biological research. There is considerable interest in the use of these systems as research tools, not only because they allow expression of genes which may be, for example, developmentally lethal, but also because they allow for controlled experiments to be performed in a true isogenic background. They also have the potential to provide a means by which desired characters are expressed in field-based systems in the future.

If you've read the Bible, you probably know some of the important battles, a good chunk of the life of Jesus, maybe a Psalm or two - but what do you know about the minor prophets and the epistles? Do you have some loose ends that need tying up? This is where a book like this helps. The Bible has one author - God - so we need to see the Bible as a whole, as God's Word. Every book of the Bible is the breath of God and the plan of Salvation spans all of Scripture. In this Bible overview each book of the Bible is summarised; background given; themes and theology explained.
