Dynamic Fracture of Piezoelectric Materials focuses on the Boundary
Integral Equation Method as an efficient computational tool. The
presentation of the theoretical basis of piezoelectricity is
followed by sections on fundamental solutions and the numerical
realization of the boundary value problems. Two major parts of the
book are devoted to the solution of problems in homogeneous and
inhomogeneous solids. The book includes contributions on coupled
electro-mechanical models, computational methods, its validation
and the simulation results, which reveal different effects useful
for engineering design and practice. The book is self-contained and
well-illustrated, and it serves as a graduate-level textbook or as
extra reading material for students and researchers.
A new theory of balanced leadership in projects Leadership is not
static. Instead, authority in projects shifts dynamically between
project managers, individual team members, and sub-teams, depending
on the situation. Leadership may be exercised through a vertical,
horizontal, shared, or distributed leadership approach. However,
balanced leadership ensures the best suitable approach is used in
any given situation. Based on an award-winning global program of
research studies, Balanced Leadership is a thorough investigation
of balanced leadership in projects. Ralf Muller, Nathalie Drouin,
and Shankar Sankaran present a project-specific leadership approach
as well as a theory of balanced leadership, and the situations in
which different strategies are required. They also outline the five
building blocks that enable balanced leadership: nomination of team
members, identification of potential leaders, selection and
empowerment of leaders, empowered leadership and its governance,
and leadership transition. The book explains the coordination of
these building blocks through the socio-cognitive space shared by
project manager and team. Using real-life case studies and clear
examples, this book offers a new way of considering and utilizing
dynamic leadership in project settings.
This research-based book takes an organization-wide perspective to
describe the governance and governmentality for projects in
organizations. Governance of projects defines and directs the ways
managers of projects, programs, and project portfolios carry out
their work. Governmentality is the way the managers of these
managers present themselves to those they lead. Governance and
Governmentality for Projects starts with introducing existing
theories, models and paradigms for governance and governmentality.
It then develops a chronological framework of the ways governance
and governmentality for projects is enabled in organizations, how
it subsequently unfolds in organizations of different types and
sectors, and the consequences of different governance approaches
for project results, trust, control, and ethical issues in
projects. Special emphasis is given to the link between corporate
governance and the governance of project, programs and project
portfolios. Three real-life case studies exemplify the research
findings described in the book. Through its structure this book
describes the development of governance and governmentality in the
realm of projects from its organizational origins, via observable
practices, to expected consequences of different implementations.
Aimed at academics, post-graduate students in business and
management, reflective practitioners, standards or policy
developers, those in governance roles and others in need of a
detailed knowledge of the spectrum of project related governance in
organizations, this book will help develop a comprehensive
understanding of the theoretical and practical underpinnings of the
subject, their interaction, and implications for implementation.
This allows for understanding and developing of both generic and
idiosyncratic governance structures, such as those needed in
project-based organizations.
From the perspective of delivering successful projects, the value
of a skilled project sponsor and project manager outweighs many
other factors. Projects need leaders who can give them vision,
identity, keep the stakeholders and the project team on board and
make the difficult decisions that will enable the project to
continue (or, if necessary, be terminated). These are human skills
that don't necessarily feature large in the project management
bodies of knowledge. Ralf Muller and Rodney Turner's
Project-Oriented Leadership explains the key leadership models of
managerial, intellectual and emotional leadership and shows how
they can be applied within projects to lead processes, functions
and people, and ensure an ethical and inclusive approach within
projects and programs.

Without a governance structure, an organization runs the risk of
conflicts and inconsistencies between the various means of
achieving organizational goals, the processes and resources,
causing costly inefficiencies that impact negatively on both smooth
running and bottom line profitability. However, the frequency of
projects failing to meet these corporate objectives has focused
attention firmly on the process of project governance. In this
book, Ralf MA1/4ller provides a well-researched framework to
explain the different preferences organizations have in goal
setting, along with the best-practices, roles and responsibilities
related to governance tasks. This concise text is an important
guide for project and programme managers, those managers concerned
with corporate governance such as risk managers and internal
auditors, project sponsors and project board members, as well as
academics researching organizational and project performance.
Project Governance is part of the Gower Fundamentals of Project
Management Series. Practising professionals and project students
will find in the fundamentals a definitive, shorthand guide to each
of the main competencies associated with project management; a book
that is authoritative, based on current research but immediately
relevant and applicable.
sozialer Netzwerke zusammenhangen. In Bezug auf klassische
Rechtsgebiete (Schuldrecht, Strafrecht, Arbeitsrecht,
Persoenlichkeitsschutz) uber neuere Rechtsbereiche (Datenschutz,

Universitat Freiburg (Strategisches Management, Seminar fur
Unternehmensfuhrung), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Inhaltsangabe:
Derzeit existieren zwei Modelle,
in welcher Form die Liberalisierung erfolgen soll. Ein Modell wurde
vom Bundesamt fur Energie (BFE) ausgearbeitet.
In recent years, organizational project management (OPM) has
emerged as a field focused on how project, program and portfolio
management practices strategically help firms realize
organizational goals. There is a compelling need to address the
totality of project-related work at the organizational level,
providing a view of organizations as a network of projects to be
coordinated among themselves, integrated by the more permanent
organization, and to move away from a focus on individual projects.
This comprehensive volume provides views from a wide range of
international scholars researching OPM at a cross-disciplinary
level. It covers concepts, theories and practices from disciplines
allied to management, such as strategic management, organization
sciences and behavioural science. It will be a valuable read for
scholars and practitioners alike, who are looking to enrich their
understanding of OPM and further investigate this new phenomenon.
