This volume comprises papers from the following ?ve workshops that were part of the complete program for the International Conference on Extending Database Technology (EDBT) held in Heraklion, Greece, March 2004: * ICDE/EDBT Joint Ph. It was, therefore, dif?cult to decide on the papers that were to beacceptedforpresentation. Webelievethattheacceptedpaperssubstantiallycontribute to their particular ?elds of research. The workshops were an excellent basis for intense and highly fruitful discussions. The quality and quantity of papers show that the areas of interest for the workshops are highly active. A large number of excellent researchers are working on the aforementioned ?elds producing research output that is not only of interest for other researchers but also for industry. The organizers and participants of the workshops were highly satis?ed with the output. The high quality of the presenters and workshop participants contributed to the success of each workshop. The amazing environment of Heraklion and the location of the EDBT conference also contributed to the overall success. Last, but not least, our sincere thanks to the conference organizers - the organizing team was always willing to help and if there were things that did not work, assistance was quickly available.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed joint post-proceedings of three workshops held as part of the 8th International Conference on Extending Database Technology, EDBT 2002, in Prague, Czech Republic, in March 2002.The 43 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from approximately 130 submissions during two rounds of reviewing and revision. Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 1999 im Fachbereich BWL - Personal und Organisation, Friedrich-Alexander-Universitat Erlangen-Nurnberg (Unbekannt), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Inhaltsangabe: Gang der Untersuchung: Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit erarbeitet eine Analyse der Chirurgischen Poliklinik der Universitat Erlangen-Nurnberg im Hinblick auf eine Kostensenkung bei gleichbleibender Qualitat bzw. einer Qualitatssteigerung der medizinischen Versorgung von Patienten. Zu Beginn werden die Rahmenbedingungen fur die Analyse beschrieben. Neben der Organisationsstruktur des Klinikums wird auch auf dessen Kommunikationssystem eingegangen. Da die Dokumentation im Krankenhaus eine wichtige Rolle fur die Qualitatssicherung spielt, werden die dort anzutreffenden Dokumentationsarten kurz erlautert. Die fur die Analyse notwendigen theoretischen Grundlagen werden im Kapitel "Werkzeuge fur die Systemanalyse" beschrieben. Hier werden zum einen "klassische" Methoden erortert und zum anderen neuere Verfahren aus dem Bereich Workflow-Management vorgestellt. Im Kapitel "Analyse der Chirurgischen Poliklinik" wird zunachst deren Organisationsstruktur analysiert. Im Anschluss daran werden mit Hilfe von Workflow-Modellen Arbeitsablaufe modelliert, die in einem direkten Zusammenhang mit dem "Weg eines Patienten" durch die Poliklinik stehen. Diese Modelle sollen als Grundlage fur spatere Optimierungen dienen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt der Analyse ist die Umstellung des Abrechnungsverfahrens bei ambulanten Operationen. Nach 115b SGB V sind Krankenhauser berechtigt, ambulante Operationen leistungsbezogen abzurechnen. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit soll nun untersucht werden, wie die derzeitige Abrechnung ambulanter Eingriffe von Fallpauschalen auf entsprechende Leistungsentgelte umgestellt werden kann und welche Schritte im einzelnen dafur notwendig sind. Das letzte Kapitel fasst die Ergebnisse der vorliegenden Arbeit zusammen und gibt einen Ausblick auf mogliche Massnahmen fur ein effizien
