Based on the idea that past and future life memories may be creations of the imagination and yet still be useful in healing, "A Practical Guide to Healing by Remembering Your Past and Future Lives" discuses a number of popular theories of memory creation and gives you practical tools to help you remember your other lives-past and future-to make the most of your life today. Author Matt Gomes has researched the information to help you understand the theories of memory creation, storage, and retrieval; discover how the past affects the present and the present influences the future; and identify how your current physical and emotional issues are rooted in your past lives. Even if you have doubt in the actual existence of reincarnation or of other lifetimes, "A Practical Guide to Healing by Remembering Your Past and Future Lives" can help you let go of fears and phobias, deal with death, understand, and forgive others. You "can" heal your present!
In August 2004, South Africa officially sought to legally recognize the practice of traditional healers. Largely in response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and limited both by the number of practitioners and by patients' access to treatment, biomedical practitioners looked toward the country's traditional healers as important agents in the development of medical education and treatment. This collaboration has not been easy. The two medical cultures embrace different ideas about the body and the origin of illness, but they do share a history of commercial and ideological competition and different relations to state power. Healing Traditions: African Medicine, Cultural Exchange, and Competition in South Africa, 1820-1948 provides a long-overdue historical perspective to these interactions and an understanding that is vital for the development of medical strategies to effectively deal with South Africa's healthcare challenges. Between 1820 and 1948, traditional healers in Natal, South Africa, transformed themselves from politically powerful men and women who challenged colonial rule and law into successful entrepreneurs who competed for turf and patients with white biomedical doctors and pharmacists. Carefully crafted, well written, and powerfully argued, Flint's analysis of the ways that indigenous medical knowledge and therapeutic practices were forged, contested, and transformed over two centuries is highly illuminating, as is her demonstration that many "traditional" practices changed over time. Her discussion of African and Indian medical encounters opens up a whole new way of thinking about the social basis of health and healing in South Africa.
"We were not taught in medical school about the spiritual/energetic aspect of our true nature; that I had to learn from my patients and the master healer Himself." In "Healing From Within, Be Still and Know, Fourth Edition," Dr. Brooksby describes how we can reclaim and maintain our health when traditional medicine has failed us. Liberally peppered with case histories, Dr. Brooksby teaches us about our nature and how it's possible to work with our intrinsic energies to help us heal. 'Christ taught his disciples how to heal. We were supposed to have that knowledge, knowledge that has been lost to western cultures. It was not supposed to be a secret." Additionally, in this fourth and final edition of "Healing From Within, Be Still and Know," Dr. Brooksby discusses past life traumas and energetic entities and the impact of those on our health.
Renowned naturopathic doctor to the stars shares a "perfect roadmap" (Dr. Mike Moreno, New York Times bestselling author of The 17 Day Diet book series) to the life-changing seven-day plan personalized to you and your birthday that can radically improve your health and wellbeing. Do you regularly get the Monday Blues? Are you always tired on Fridays, even though you want to be excited for the weekend? There may be more to it than just a long work week. Over the course of a week, the human body goes through a cycle of self-regulation. Our energy levels, inflammation levels, capacity to focus, and even our immunity all fluctuate naturally based on this internal seven-day cycle, scientifically known as the circaseptan rhythm. Now, Dr. Olivia Audrey reveals how we can tap into the power of this seven-day cycle to transform our health and overhaul our mind and mood. The key to understanding your own circaseptan rhythm is, remarkably, from the day of the week on which you were born. The birth experience is like a hormonal storm that inflames the body, one that is repeated week after week with an ebb and flow of inflammation and repair that lasts seven days. This cycle has a measurable impact on mood, energy, and all the facets of physical health. Dr. Audrey's protocol provides instructions for aligning your health goals with your body's natural circaseptan rhythm, unlocking extraordinary benefits. With her accessible writing and actionable advice, Dr. Audrey reveals the secret to harnessing your body's natural rhythm in order to heal whatever ails you and boost how you look, feel, and live. This plan can be effective for losing weight, gaining focus, fighting specific diseases, or simply feeling more in tune with your life. A Week to Change Your Life is the ultimate program to "show us a different way of looking at the problems, reminding us to keep practicing and to feel joy," (Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York) so you can create a life of radiant health and energy.

Featured here is a modern translation of a medieval herbal, with a study showing how this technical treatise on herbs was turned into a literary curiosity in the nineteenth century. The contours of this second edition replicate the first; however, it has been revised and updated throughout to reflect new scholarship and new findings. New information is presented on Oswald Cockayne, the nineteenth-century philologist who first translated the Old English medical texts for the modern world. Here the medieval text is read as an example of technical writing (i.e., intended to convey instructions/information), not as literature. The audience it was originally aimed at would know how to diagnose and treat medical conditions and knew or was learning how to follow its instructions. For that reason, while working on the translation, specialists in relevant fields were asked to shed light on its terse wording, for example, herbalists and physicians. Unlike many current studies, this work discusses the Herbarium and other medical texts in Old English as part of a tradition developed throughout early-medieval Europe associated with monasteries and their libraries. The book is intended for scholars in cross-cultural fields; that is, with roots in one field and branches in several, such as nineteenth-century or medieval studies, for historians of herbalism, medicine, pharmacy, botany, and of the Western Middle Ages, broadly and inclusively defined, and for readers interested in the history of herbalism and medicine.
In this book we present recent studies that have been carried out on some widely used medicinal plants. The need for new and alternative treatments stem from the lack of efficiency of existing remedies for certain illnesses. We have compiled information that may be useful to researchers in their quest to develop new drugs.
With thousands of known suicides taking place in the United States each year, it is very possible you have already been touched. In Healing the Wound from My Daughter's Suicide, author Lois Severson shares the true story of how her family was deeply affected by the tragedy of suicide. She narrates the story of the suicide of her twenty-six-year-old daughter Patty in June of 2005. Severson recalls a personal journey through the grief process from the perspective of the mother, father, and sister of the victim. She also includes Patty's suicide letter and selected diary entries and addresses the subject of mental illness and its role in suicides. Raw and emotional, Healing the Wound from My Daughter's Suicide provides keen insight into family dynamics following the suicide of a loved one. It shows how one family navigated the grief and healing process and found comfort through help from their community, from within the family, and through their faith in God.
After returning from a tour of duty during the war in Afghanistan, Alex Seymour needed a way to cope with the extremes he experienced as a member of the Royal Marine Commandos, losing 7 men in his unit, and having his best friend critically injured by a Taliban bomb. Drawing upon his pre-deployment experiences, Alex knew that entheogens could help him release his fears and traumas. But he also knew that simply taking psychedelics wasn't enough--he needed ceremony, something sacred to draw meaning from his experiences, to help him reassess not only the war and his role in it, but his entire life. So he set out for the Amazon in search of the hallucinogenic brew known as ayahuasca and a shaman to guide him.
