Shirin (Akhavan) is a woman in her twenties who has just broken up with her girlfriend Maxine (Rebecca Henderson) and still hides the truth about her sexuality from her conservative Iranian parents. Working as a film teacher to overprivileged five-year-olds, Shirin struggles to get over Maxine and seeks to achieve some semblance of a personal, professional and cultural balance in her life on her own terms. A goal not aided by her overachieving brother and his new and adored Persian fianceé who both happen to be highly successful in the field of medicine, much to her parents' delight.

When media baron Rod McCain (Kevin Kline) buys Marwood Zoo in England, he sends over his son Vince (also Kline) and the sexy Willa Weston (Jamie Lee Curtis) to ensure that it turns over a 20% profit. The zoo is being run by McCain employee Rollo Lee (John Cleese), who has instigated a policy that only fierce creatures should be on display. When Vince sets up advertising hoardings and arranges bogus celebrity sponsorship, the zookeepers, led by insect specialist 'Bugsy' Malone (Michael Palin), revolt. John Cleese reassembles the cast of 'A Fish Called Wanda' for this film, described as an 'equal' rather than a sequel.

While their offspring set about telling Grandpa the ins and outs of their lives down in London, including intimate details of arguments their parents have had, Doug and Abi try to put aside their differences and have an enjoyable weekend.

Hollywood's Paul Douglas plays Marshall, an American businessman who becomes involved with The Maggie, a rundown old shipping vessel captained by the taciturn skipper (Alex Mackenzie), when he is trying to find a way to convey his luggage to a remote island. With the help of his friend Martin (Leguizamo), ex-wife Inez (Vergara) and son Percy (Emjay Anthony), Carl opens up a food truck and tours the country with his culinary delights, rediscovering his passion for cooking along the way. The cast also includes Oliver Platt, Bobby Cannavale and Amy Sedaris.
