Analog Circuit Theory and Filter Design in the Digital World - With an Introduction to the Morphological Method for Creative... Analog Circuit Theory and Filter Design in the Digital World - With an Introduction to the Morphological Method for Creative Solutions and Design (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2019)
George S. Moschytz
R3,215 Discovery Miles 32 150 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This textbook is designed for graduate-level courses, and for self-study, in analog and sampled-data, including switched-capacitor, circuit theory and design for ongoing, or active electrical engineers, needing to become proficient in analog circuit design on a system, rather than on a device, level. After decades of experience in industry and teaching this material in academic settings, the author has extracted many of the most important and useful features of analog circuit theory and design and presented them in a manner that is easy to digest and utilize. The methodology and analysis techniques presented can be applied to areas well beyond those specifically addressed in this book. This book is meant to enable readers to gain a 'general knowledge' of one aspect of analog engineering (e.g., that of network theory, filter design, system theory and sampled-data signal processing). The presentation is self-contained and should be accessible to anyone with a first degree in electrical engineering.

Kirti Gupta, Neeta Pandey, Maneesha Gupta
R2,957 Discovery Miles 29 570 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book presents MOSFET-based current mode logic (CML) topologies, which increase the speed, and lower the transistor count, supply voltage and power consumption. The improved topologies modify the conventional PDN, load, and the current source sections of the basic CML gates. Electronic system implementation involves embedding digital and analog circuits on a single die shifting towards mixed-mode circuit design. The high-resolution, low-power and low-voltage analog circuits are combined with high-frequency complex digital circuits, and the conventional static CMOS logic generates large current spikes during the switching (also referred to as digital switching noise), which degrade the resolution of the sensitive analog circuits via supply line and substrate coupling. This problem is exacerbated further with scaling down of CMOS technology due to higher integration levels and operating frequencies. In the literature, several methods are described to reduce the propagation of the digital switching noise. However, in high-resolution applications, these methods are not sufficient. The conventional CMOS static logic is no longer an effective solution, and therefore an alternative with reduced current spikes or that draws a constant supply current must be selected. The current mode logic (CML) topology, with its unique property of requiring constant supply current, is a promising alternative to the conventional CMOS static logic.

Information Storage - A Multidisciplinary Perspective (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2020): Cornelia S. Grosse, Rolf Drechsler Information Storage - A Multidisciplinary Perspective (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2020)
Cornelia S. Grosse, Rolf Drechsler
R2,978 Discovery Miles 29 780 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book examines some of the underlying processes behind different forms of information management, including how we store information in our brains, the impact of new technologies such as computers and robots on our efficiency in storing information, and how information is stored in families and in society. The editors brought together experts from a variety of disciplines. While it is generally agreed that information reduces uncertainties and that the ability to store it safely is of vital importance, these authors are open to different meanings of "information": computer science considers the bit as the information block; neuroscience emphasizes the importance of information as sensory inputs that are processed and transformed in the brain; theories in psychology focus more on individual learning and on the acquisition of knowledge; and finally sociology looks at how interpersonal processes within groups or society itself come to the fore. The book will be of value to researchers and students in the areas of information theory, artificial intelligence, and computational neuroscience.

Practical Security Properties on Commodity Computing Platforms - The uber eXtensible Micro-Hypervisor Framework (Paperback, 1st... Practical Security Properties on Commodity Computing Platforms - The uber eXtensible Micro-Hypervisor Framework (Paperback, 1st ed. 2019)
Amit Vasudevan
R1,557 Discovery Miles 15 570 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This SpringerBrief discusses the uber eXtensible Micro-hypervisor Framework (uberXMHF), a novel micro-hypervisor system security architecture and framework that can isolate security-sensitive applications from other untrustworthy applications on commodity platforms, enabling their safe co-existence. uberXMHF, in addition, facilitates runtime monitoring of the untrustworthy components, which is illustrated in this SpringerBrief. uberXMHF focuses on three goals which are keys to achieving practical security on commodity platforms: (a) commodity compatibility (e.g., runs unmodified Linux and Windows) and unfettered access to platform hardware; (b) low trusted computing base and complexity; and (c) efficient implementation. uberXMHF strives to be a comprehensible, practical and flexible platform for performing micro-hypervisor research and development. uberXMHF encapsulates common hypervisor core functionality in a framework that allows developers and users to build custom micro-hypervisor based (security-sensitive) applications (called "uberapps"). The authors describe several uberapps that employ uberXMHF and showcase the framework efficacy and versatility. These uberapps span a wide spectrum of security applications including application compartmentalization and sandboxing, attestation, approved code execution, key management, tracing, verifiable resource accounting, trusted-path and on-demand I/O isolation. The authors are encouraged by the end result - a clean, barebones, low trusted computing base micro-hypervisor framework for commodity platforms with desirable performance characteristics and an architecture amenable to manual audits and/or formal reasoning. Active, open-source development of uberXMHF continues. The primary audience for this SpringerBrief is system (security) researchers and developers of commodity system software. Practitioners working in system security deployment mechanisms within industry and defense, as well as advanced-level students studying computer science with an interest in security will also want to read this SpringerBrief.

Logics for Computer Science - Classical and Non-Classical (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2018): Anita Wasilewska Logics for Computer Science - Classical and Non-Classical (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2018)
Anita Wasilewska
R3,213 Discovery Miles 32 130 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Providing an in-depth introduction to fundamental classical and non-classical logics, this textbook offers a comprehensive survey of logics for computer scientists. Logics for Computer Science contains intuitive introductory chapters explaining the need for logical investigations, motivations for different types of logics and some of their history. They are followed by strict formal approach chapters. All chapters contain many detailed examples explaining each of the introduced notions and definitions, well chosen sets of exercises with carefully written solutions, and sets of homework. While many logic books are available, they were written by logicians for logicians, not for computer scientists. They usually choose one particular way of presenting the material and use a specialized language. Logics for Computer Science discusses Gentzen as well as Hilbert formalizations, first order theories, the Hilbert Program, Godel's first and second incompleteness theorems and their proofs. It also introduces and discusses some many valued logics, modal logics and introduces algebraic models for classical, intuitionistic, and modal S4 and S5 logics. The theory of computation is based on concepts defined by logicians and mathematicians. Logic plays a fundamental role in computer science, and this book explains the basic theorems, as well as different techniques of proving them in classical and some non-classical logics. Important applications derived from concepts of logic for computer technology include Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering. In addition to Computer Science, this book may also find an audience in mathematics and philosophy courses, and some of the chapters are also useful for a course in Artificial Intelligence.
