It is the mid-seventies in Detroit, Michigan, a time of change.
Vietnam has finally ground to its melodramatic end and the 60's,
exhausted and defeated, have fizzled out as well. The body politic
still reels from Watergate and Nixon's subsequent resignation. Race
relations are everywhere problematic, nowhere more so than in
Detroit.
The city is also dealing with the auto industry being forced,
for the first time, to comply with federal pollution and safety
standards, an imposition many inside the industry, and out, view as
high-handed and onerous. Area residents, Tim and Cassandra Hauser
carry on anyway, aware of the upheaval about them but not of the
turmoil they are about to foist upon themselves.
Their best friends, Jesse and Karin Whitmore, suggest a two-week
vacation sailing around the Caribbean in a rented sailboat. To help
defray costs, a third couple is also invited, other friends of
Jesse and Karin's who Tim and Cassandra have never actually met. It
proves to be the vacation of a lifetime, a bacchanalia of sun and
sea and skin. Consequences necessarily ensue. When they return home
all find their lives irrevocably altered.
This novel, then, is about transition and resolve, cause and
effect. You are invited to come along for the ride. The road is
sometimes bumpy and the sea occasionally choppy but the destination
is nonetheless worthy, hopefully, of the obstacles encountered
along the way. Bring along a good book to read.

For readers of The New York Times bestselling Fifty Shades of
Grey trilogy and Bared to You comes this intoxicating novel of
passion and ultimate surrender . . .
As a mega-superstar, Nick Muncie is accustomed to having any
woman he wants. But lately, he's become disenchanted--until he
notices a stunning woman in the trendy London restaurant where he
is having lunch. Much to his surprise, Nick's charms, which have
never failed him before, fall flat with artist Olivia Morgan.
Instead of feeling defeated, he becomes consumed with making her
desire him. He commissions a portrait, and during the sexually
charged sessions, the seduction begins as Nick engages Olivia in a
twisted, erotic game of control.
Extremely talented and confident, Olivia believes she's immune
to Nick's attentions. But it isn't long before she finds herself
fantasizing about him and succumbing to his power to give pleasure
yet cruelly deny it. As their lunchtime trysts quickly escalate,
another player soon topples the rules and tests how far Olivia and
Nick will go in their destructive cycle of submission and
obsession.
Brandi had made Poplar Bluff her home and was now a happily married
woman. On the outside, Poplar Bluff seemed to be a perfect town to
live in. So after all those years, had he returned to finish what
he started twenty years ago? But by the time Brandi discovers the
new stranger in town real identity, and the truth about what really
happened at the bottom of the steps, would it be too late? Would
Poplar Bluff prove to be as safe as she had first thought, or was
her new family also in danger now?
