It is a near-future world, and in many ways London is the same
bustling metropolis it has been for centuries; but look a little
closer and Viral Inspectors roam public places delivering fines and
forced immunisation against Avian Flu, and an organisation called
the Genetic Protection Authority has been established with
unnerving oversight. It is the role of the GPA to oversee the
genetic future of mankind: a noble mission to protect humanity from
the worst genetic diseases and impairments, but one that seems
increasingly liable to abuse, using its vague definitions of
eradicating anything more than 'three standard variations from the
human norm'. When Sandra Small becomes pregnant with a child that
has the same strain of achondroplasia dwarfism as her husband, Ivan
Henry, an ugly domestic dispute escalates to a legal battle with
the GPA and the High Court. What could have been a marital issue
becomes a challenge to the GPA's authority and jurisdiction, in a
test case that could set an alarming precedent for the whole
country, redefining the very definition of what is, and isn't,
human. The stakes for Ivan, dwarfs, and anyone else with a genetic
condition, become increasingly larger threatening to engulf London
and beyond. This ambitious and provocative script is a faithful
recreation of Ross Martyn's original vision, looking at ethics,
science, and society; a story of how small actions can lead to
catastrophic consequences.

Wes Anderson startled audiences with his stop-motion animated film of Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox.
He now displays his unique wit and playful visual sense in an action-filled saga of Samurai dogs.
This book offers the first international look at how script
development is theorised and practiced. Drawing on interviews, case
studies, discourse analysis, creative practices and industry
experiences, it brings together scholars and practitioners from
around the world to offer critical insights into this core, but
often hidden, aspect of screenwriting and screen production.
Chapters speculate and reflect upon how creative, commercial and
social practices - in which ideas, emotions, people and
personalities combine, cohere and clash - are shaped by the
practicalities, policies and rapid movements of the screen
industry. Comprising two parts, the book first looks 'into' script
development from a theoretical perspective, and second looks 'out
from' the practice to form practitioner-led perspectives of script
development. With a rising interest in screenwriting and production
studies, and an increased appetite for practice-based research, the
book offers a timely mapping of the terrain of script development,
providing rich foundations for both study and practice.
The complete Blackadder scripts by Richard Curtis, Ben Elton, Rowan
Atkinson and John Lloyd. Twenty-six years ago, Edmund Blackadder
made his first appearance on our screens. Comedy has never been the
same since (nor indeed has history). Gathered here - in this
twenty-sixth anniversary commemorative edition - are the complete
scripts of Blackadder's adventures and, mostly, misadventures.
Blackadder, Blackadder II, Blackadder the Third and Blackadder Goes
Forth. Every word, every lie, every cunning plan and cock-up. From
medieval nastiness, through Elizabethan and Regency glory, to the
mud and sauteed rats of the First World War, Blackadder and his
oafish underling Baldrick can be most definitely blamed for ruining
England's reputation as a country with a great history. This
historical record has been set down by Mr Richard Curtis, Mr Ben
Elton, Mr Rowan Atkinson and Mr John Lloyd. Richard Curtis is the
writer/director behind Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually
and The Boat That Rocked) and Ben Elton is the bestselling author
and writer of The Young Ones, The Man From Auntie and The Thin Blue
Line. The character of Blackadder was played by Rowan Atkinson, who
is the star of the Mr Bean TV series and films, and Johnny English.
The four Blackadder series, produced by John Lloyd, won numerous
BAFTAs and also an EMMY.
