Doug Fields, Laurie Polich, Duffy Robbins

The lights are dim. The crowd is hushed. And a dozen teens start laughing hysterically, piling into a human 'boat' that helps set up the mind-blowing miracle of Jesus walking on the stormy Sea of Galilee. Maybe you re after a booster shot for midweek youth group meetings that feel 'same old, same old.' Or you ve just been asked (last minute, of course) to run the service at the shelter during your mission trip, and you need a jolt of energy that ll draw kids into your lesson. Whatever your creative need, Spontaneous Melodramas 2 will fill the bill. Continuing where its predecessor--Spontaneous Melodramas--left off, this volume offers another two dozen tales from the Old and New Testaments that bring the biblical accounts to life . . . with distinctive, contemporary twists Although these no-rehearsal skits will leave your students in stitches, the humor never buries the message of Scripture. So you can be confident when bringing your kids--whether or not they re familiar with the Bible--into sketches like: The Sumptuous Spare Rib (Adam and Eve) Touched by an Angel (Jacob s wrestling match) Love on a Threshing Floor (Ruth and Boaz) The Wizard of Eyes (Jesus heals the blind man) The Great Pool Party (Healing at the pool) Dead Man Walking (Jesus raises Lazarus) Spontaneous Melodramas 2 is full of flexible skits that youth workers, Sunday school teachers, camp counselors, and retreat directors can use for discussion starters, icebreakers, or talk intros. And they re natural fits for Bible study programming, all-nighters, mission trips, camps, retreats, parent meetings, and many other events. More than a year s worth of slapstick, pratfalls, and fun, Spontaneous Melodramas 2 will make the Bible--and its unforgettable characters and adventures--extra memorable for your students."

Wild Truth Bible Lessons--Pictures of God 2 - 12 More Wild Bible Studies on the Character of a Wild God--and What It Means for Your Junior Highers and Middle Schoolers (Paperback)
Mark Oestreicher
R500 Discovery Miles 5 000 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

The Bible is a photo album, brimming with self-portraits of a God who wants to be known. God has put these pictures in the Bible to reveal his character. By examining them, we discover who God is and why he s worth knowing better. And we discover something else: who he wants us to be. He wants us to copy his picture into our own character. Wild Truth Bible Lessons--Pictures of God 2 is a guide to 12 God-pictures taken straight from the Photo Album. They are active Bible lessons for junior high and middle school Sunday school classes or youth group meetings, each one based on one of the 50 pictures of God and presented energetically, relevantly, and scripturally in the companion student book Wild Truth Journal: Pictures of God. The lessons are loaded with off-the-wall and easy-to-do discussion starters, video ideas, scripts, games with a point. And, of course, Bible passages and studies that springboard junior highers from the abstract into the concrete as (open Bibles in hand) they explore the nature of God in a lively, relevant way, and then begin practicing in their own lives the traits of God. Here s how the lessons are organized: * Picture Prep grabs your group s attention to prepare them for what s ahead. * Action Shot takes your students into the Bible to catch God in the act of revealing his character. * Self-Portrait explores the given aspect of God s character how it makes God just that much more awesome...and why it s a very good trait for us to have, too. * Print It challenges your students to print God s picture into their own lives by living out his character in an immediately practical way. 12 lessons"

Declared "Venerable" by Pope Benedict XVI on May 10, 2012, this priest came to the United States from Slovenia in 1830 to undertake his mission as a "simple servant of God." For almost forty years, Fr. Frederic Baraga traveled across over 80,000 square miles of wilderness by snowshoe in winter and canoe in summer. In imitation of Christ, Bishop Baraga become poor so that he might bring the riches of the Catholic Faith to the Chippewa and immigrant residents of the beautiful peninsula he served.

While this exciting adventure is intended for youth who are interested in knowing more about this quiet, courageous priest, readers of all ages will be inspired by his life of humility, simplicity, and selfless virtue.

Also included are discussion questions, applicable Scripture passages, pertinent quotations of Venerable Baraga from the text, and- most importantly-a section illustrating how to imitate the various virtues of Venerable Frederic Baraga. Additionally, the complete text of Bishop Baraga's 1853 "Pastoral Letter to the Faithful" has been included with numerous references added in order that we may read this in light of Scripture and the "Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church." R530 Discovery Miles 5 300 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Christian adolescents in the 21st century face pretty much the same situations as the first-century Christians in Corinth did -- an indulgent, profligate, choose-your-own-god society. The latest in the Creative Bible Lessons series, Creative Bible Lessons in 1 & 2 Corinthians is a 12-lesson curriculum with an issues-oriented spin on living one's faith in the real world. It lets teenagers wrestle with the tension between biblical instruction and cultural realities. These 12 studies about the not-so-easily-tamed people of Corinth and their founding pastor Paul of Tarsus pave the way for youth workers and Sunday school teachers to teach high schoolers about conversion, transformation, failure, leadership, authority, and God's constant saving love even in the midst of people making a mess of things. Here are some of the not-so-ancient issues you'll explore in this study: Give Me Liberty or Give Me Love, Friends Don't Let Friends Go Unforgiven, Those Pesky STDs (Sexually Tough Decisions), Love Is . . ., No Easy Answers, Show Me the Money, and Ouch! Of course, there's lots of what the Creative bible Lessons series is known for: provocative and relevant discussion starters, to-the-point scripts, high-energy games, reproducible pages of interactive activities -- all in the context of hard-core Bible study. 12 lessons.

Countdown to Christmas: Memory Making Stories and Activities for Every Day from December 1st to the 25th. Do you long to make this holiday season the best ever? Do you wish to escape from the commercialism that hounds us from every corner? Do you wish to slow down this Christmas and enjoy the holiday as they did in the good old days? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are holding the answer in your hands. Countdown to Christmas has family friendly stories and activities for every day from December 1st to the 25th. Imagine your family gathering each day to read a Christmas story and then participating in a fun activity. This can become a reality with Countdown to Christmas. This book is broken up into daily sections. Each day has a story and an activity that should take about 30 to 45 minutes. Some of the stories included are: "Becky's Christmas Dream" by Louisa May Alcott; "The Fir-Tree" by Hans Christian Andersen; "The Star" by Florence M. Kingsley; "The Conscience-Pudding" by E. Nesbit; "Why the Chimes Rang" by Raymond MacDonald Alden; "Christmas Every Day" by W.D. Howells; and "Christmas Storms and Sunshine" by Elizabeth Gaskell. Nearly all the stories in this book were written in the 1800s and early 1900s so some of the language may seem old fashioned, but this only adds to their charm. Many of these stories have not been reprinted since their first publication and they are just waiting to be rediscovered by a whole new generation. Countdown to Christmas will appeal to any age group but children ages 6-14 will probably enjoy it the most. The activities include: games, crafts, cooking, riddles, quizzes, singing carols, etc. This book will help families grow closer together. Make this Christmas truly memorable with Countdown to Christmas
