What are schemas and why do they matter? Again! Again! provides an
introduction to understanding and supporting schemas and schema
play in young children. Practitioners will find an overview of
schemas with guidance on where they fit within the EYFS. There are
examples of schemas, with illustrations and descriptions of common
behaviour patterns, and these are set within the general context of
child development. The intention is to help early years
practitioners identify schemas and to understand both how important
they are and the vital role they play in the growing child's
learning. The aim is to help the reader understand how they can
develop, plan and resource activities which support children's
learning through experiment and play.
To share is a process that involves complex cognitive and emotional
skills. To be able to share, the child must be able to understand
that objects exist and belong to him even when he does not see them
and be able to put himself in the other's shoes. With the
identification through illustrations, the child understands how to
enjoy shared games, enhancing these moments and highlighting the
fun in doing what they like best. We help the children to find
solutions that can mediate their needs with those of others,
without this necessarily implying a renunciation. In this way, we
manage their ability to think about a solution strategy, and to
respect the needs of the other.
Featuring simply illustrated images, the board books in the 'Hello
Baby' series include pictures set against alternating
black-and-white backgrounds, designed with bold colours to
stimulate baby's vision.
The proposed activities are inspired by the studies of Daniel
Goleman on emotional development and concern child's reflection on
the characteristics of emotions, on one's own and others' emotional
states and on the association of physical characteristics to
certain emotions. In the book the 6 basic emotions and the 2 social
emotions are analysed. In this activity book the ability developed
is Feeling: by training child's emotional ability, we can provide
them with tools to face the most complex situations and the most
difficult and important tasks, which could not be entrusted solely
to the intellect.
The topics chosen for this book are inspired by the studies of Alan
J. Bishop, so there are six universal activities that characterize
mathematics: Counting, Locating, Measuring, Designing, Playing
& Explaining. The ability developed in this activity book is
Reasoning: curiosity about the surrounding world is stimulated, the
most complex mental categories are broadened (cause and effect
relationship), problem solving, first arithmetic skills, logic,
space and time skills, planning and coding are practiced.
