The heavenly meditator has the happiest life in the world, and the most enriching commerce with the celestial Indies, from whence he returns laden with an unseen store of immortal joy, and spiritual consolation. As he continues to meditate on the great things of God, such amazing plenitudes are displayed before his eye sufficient subjects for meditation through eternity itself. Meditation returns with a good account of the good land and produces refreshing grapes pulled from the true VINE. Here the weary soul retires to rest in the bosom of the promise, in the love of God and drinks at the river before the throne as waters that flow away. O the high estate of the sons of God in meditation They walk in the fields of glory, associate with the angels of light, and hold communion with God himself Thus having been in the mount with God, their soul is beautified; thus, their face shines, and their mind seems as if in heaven, nobly opposing the base practices of the men of the world.
In this book, popular author James W. Moore talks about the power of a story, such as those told by Jesus in the Bible. The author recalls, "I would be sitting there in the sanctuary of our church, doing what young boys do in church, drawing pictures on the back of the bulletin, working puzzles, looking constantly at Granny's watch, wishing the seconds hand would move faster, daydreaming about sports, kicking my feet in the air impatiently, counting the organ pipes . . . And then, the preacher would start telling a story, and I was hooked. He had my full attention. I couldn't wait to hear the story!" Jesus knew the importance of telling stories to convey a message or a Biblical truth and used this technique often when speaking or ministering to others throughout the Bible in the form of parables. Stories are a natural way to give detail and perspective while teaching an important point.

How many of us have learned how to recite the Lord's Prayer as children? Perhaps we did this about the same time as we learned how to sing the National Anthem. It was something to be memorized, but probably not thought about, or even understood at that age. The question is, how many of us have thought about the Lord's Prayer, or understood it since? Jesus taught his disciples the Lord's Prayer in response to the request, teach us to pray. We should take this prayer seriously as an important part of our spirituality. Pastor Michael Faber has broken down the Lord's Prayer into six parts, preaching a sermon on each part, in order to lead his listeners into deeper understanding and meditation on the riches the Lord's Prayer. Join us as we explore the Lord's Prayer together through the pages of this devotional booklet

To Have and To Hold benefits those who are struggling as well as those enthusiastic about keeping their marriage sacred and strong, with the awareness that all marriages have struggles. Most relationships have cyclical peaks and valleys. This devotional integrates suggestions that the author has acquired through The Third Option program, one that assists couples at strengthening their marriage.
Jeanne-Marie Bouvier de la Motte-Guyon (commonly known as Madame Guyon) was a French mystic and one of the key advocates of Quietism. Quietism was considered heretical by the Roman Catholic Church, and she was imprisoned from 1695 to 1703 after publishing a book on the topic, A Short and Easy Method of Prayer. Guyon believed that one should pray all the time, and that in whatever one does, one should be spending time with God.

2014 Reprint of 1962 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Originally published as "Preacher and Prayer," this title is an established classic in the literature of prayer in the Christian tradition. Trained as a lawyer, but called to ministry, Bounds served as an Army chaplain during the Civil War. As far as prayer is concerned, Bounds practiced what he preached. His personal prayer regimen called him to prayer for three hours every morning. Bounds did not consider his time in prayer as idle time, but a time that was effective in changing the world through the power and grace of God. Read Bounds' "Power Through Prayer" to enrich your understanding of God's work in the world. "Power through Prayer" was written especially to convict, exhort, and encourage those who preach God's word that the secret of successful ministry is prayer and communion with the Lord. The book's twenty chapters have titles like "Men of Prayer Needed," "Our Sufficiency is of God," "Prayer, the Great Essential," "Examples of Praying Men," and "Heart Preparation Necessary." Characteristic of all books by this author, each chapter begins with one or more inspiring quotations from the writings of others who have realized the importance of prayer and its power to change the world. The simple clarion call to "Pray Pray Pray " rings throughout the book.
