2012 Reprint of 1956 American Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Frank Charles Laubach was an Evangelical Christian missionary and mystic known as "The Apostle to the Illiterates." It was a daily record of an effort to hear God's instructions, minute by minute, and to carry them out in a new, creative field which was far beyond anything the author had undertaken.
George MacDonald was a many-faceted nineteenth-century writer-an ordained minister without a church, a popular lecturer, college professor, and most famously, the author nearly 50 books. From sermons to poetry, scholarly essays to novels, and fantasy romances to fairy stories, his writing often combines the flavor of the fantastic with a scent of the spiritual-all the while evincing wisdom based in reality. Rolland Hein, eminent MacDonald scholar, biographer, and editor of this anthology, aptly quotes from MacDonald's novel The Marquis of Lossie, "Life and religion are one, or neither is anything...." The selections from Through the Year with George MacDonald are proof of the unity of MacDonald's vision. They are also proof of the decades Dr. Hein has spent immersed in the writings of this remarkable author, compiling a devotional book that readers will return to many times over for inspiration. Many who are aware of C.S. Lewis's indebtedness to George MacDonald and, as a consequence, have desired to know this Scottish author better, will find this anthology to be the perfect way into his writings. Rolland Hein is a wise and accomplished guide to MacDonald, presenting readers with selections that speak engagingly of deep spiritual truths such as kindness, trust, obedience, holiness-and chief among these always, the unending love of God the Father for each one of His children. Indeed, in this volume you will encounter, as MacDonald compellingly demonstrates, 'life essential.' Marjorie Lamp Mead, Associate Director The Marion E. Wade Center, Wheaton College C.S. Lewis said of George MacDonald, "I know hardly any other writer who seems... closer... to the Spirit of Christ Himself." In this devotional book, renowned scholar Rolland Hein presents gems from the rich array of MacDonald's writings-a rare treasure for all who wish to walk beside one who practiced the presence of God. Monika B. Hilder, Associate Professor of English, Trinity Western University, author of The Feminine Ethos in C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia Rolland Hein is professor emeritus at Wheaton College and the author of several books about George MacDonald.
Which would you rather attend-a boring lecture or a lively small
group discussion?

God does not expect a Christian to begin and end at the point of receiving salvation. The purpose of salvation is to usher one into the Kingdom of God. One needs to follow up their salvation with a continual personal development consistent with the new life. After birth, a baby should begin to crawl, then to stand, then to speak more distinctly, then to run and eventually grow into an adult. It is the same with the Christian. After one receives salvation, God expects them to develop, stage by stage, neither ceasing nor retracting. This is the only way one could enrich their Christian life. This is also how they could fortify it. The objective of this book is to motivate you to become a valuable Christian in the various spheres of your life. The book provides you with useful knowledge on how you could continuously develop yourself in this direction.
A person's conduct derives from the context of life that they have chosen for themselves. This is why something could be right to one, but bad to another. This is also why one might avoid the very things that other people are excited about. God is Phanuel's preferred context of life, the context that he sells in this book. The motivation for writing this book was Phanuel's desire to see people pursuing success in the God-context. In putting across his argument, Phanuel introduces a unique concept - the concept of the Total Quality Individual. Phanuel believes that people should not seek just to be successful, but to be of a higher order - Total Quality Individuals (TQIs).

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship Him] in spirit and in truth" (John 4:23-24). In John 4:23-24, Jesus talked about true worshippers. This implies that there also were false worshippers, as is the case even now. Are you the kind of worshipper that the Father seeks? "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves" (2 Corinthians 13:5, NIV). Every worshipper needs to do this always; this is where this book comes in handy. "Am I a hypocrite? Am I not?" you might already be quizzing yourself. You do not need to wonder anymore, for the answer is just pages away.
Instructions, order, riches, wisdom, causeless curses, money, good men leaving an inheritance for their children's children, foolishness, slothfulness, greed, drunkenness these are some of the topics that Bishop George Bloomer tackles in this walk through the book of Proverbs. "Will you walk with me?" he asks. There are 31 days in most months, just as there are 31 chapters in the book of Proverbs: a word of wisdom every day, for 31 days. Thirty-one days from now can be "the beginning of the rest of your life." This devotional has changed the lives of others, and it can change yours, too
The Campus Survival Guide, from the editors of the popular Student to Student and Campus Voices books, features sixty student essays on topics ranging from communion sacraments to super heroes. Like its popular predecessors in the series, each devotional includes a list of Scripture readings for the week, along with a companion article offering helpful, humorous, or inspirational information. Articles coincide with events commonly occurring during the academic year, with seasonal entries focusing on holidays, semester exams, spring breaks, and summer vacations. A perfect gift to keep Christian college students focused on what matters most!
Many times in reciting the Rosary, it is difficult to meditate on each Mystery during their recitation. These series of Meditations allows a person to meditate privately for about 15 minutes on one of the Mysteries. Also, a person can pick a Mystery to meditate on prior to reciting the entire Rosary. Our Lady of Fatima requested a 15 minute meditation after reciting the Rosary on the First Saturday of each month. This book can provide such a meditation. Congratulation and praise to Kenneth R. Wichorek for his outstanding devotional meditations on the Rosary. These meditations are the inspiring insights of a faithful Catholic layman contemplating and sharing with others, his love for the Virgin Mary and her Rosary. Fr, Anthony M. 2012 Reprint of Original 1898 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This might be considered a companion volume to "With Christ in the School of Prayer," and a further elaboration of the same great theme, that is, the importance and power of prayer in the Christian life. A valuable appendix, entitled "Pray Without Ceasing," contains prayers for a month. Also includes other aids and guides to the life of Prayer.
Heyward directly addresses our vulnerability to terror, especially its religious and political aspects. Examining six images of God--God of War, God of Peace, God as Father, God as Spirit. God in us, and God in all--the author locates an authentic religious response in a healthy balancing of God-images, while religiously motivated violence stems from absolutist theories that fix on only one image of an inexhaustible deity. Stressing mutuality and openness, Heyward sketches a creative Christian response to violence, terror, and war.
People tell us it is too late to warn of dangers, too late to give the final message to the world, too late to expect others to respond to the pleadings of the Word of God as are presented to them. Oh my friends, it is not too late. We must strive and urge and plead and warn until the very day that probation ends for mankind. We are to live the Enoch life This is our commission. And this is a twofold work: to develop a character of righteousness by living a life of personal purity and pleading with God and to teach a lesson of godliness by kindly acts and warning and pleading with men.

Illumination, in art, refers to the decoration of ancient sacred manuscripts and books with colored, gilded pictures. The illuminations in these ancient parchments often appeared as involved miniatures, decorative initials or ornamental border designs. The were intended to add beauty and reverence to the Holy text. The illuminations in this book are also designed to add beauty and awe to your devotional time as your draw closer to God.
A compilation of prayer from Theistic Satanists and Daemonolators. Also included are proverbs and the Al Jilwah (with Demonolatry based commentary).
ABOUT THE BOOK: Rich or poor, popular or unnoticed, we're all looking for the same thing-new life. But if young people don't get things right on the inside, they will never be the happy, successful people they were created to be. Happiness and success are an inside job. This is a book about "S-Words"-the "don't go there" words-those topics that get Sunday school teachers replaced and youth pastors fired: self-esteem, significance, sex, secrets, and suicide. Dive deeply into the topics we've all wrestled with and discover what God says about life's toughest issues. **** ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Jason Creech became a Jesus follower at age 19.
