Stories from a Place That Feels Like Home
Master storyteller Philip Gulley envelops readers in an almost
forgotten world of plainspoken and honest small-town values,
evoking a simpler time when people knew each other by name, folks
looked out for their neighbors, and people were willing to do what
was right--no matter the cost.
When Philip Gulley began writing newsletter essays for the
twelve members of his Quaker meeting in Indiana, he had no idea one
of them would find its way to radio commentator Paul Harvey Jr. and
be read on the air to 24 million people. Fourteen books later, with
more than a million books in print, Gulley still entertains as well
as inspires from his small-town front porch.
An accessible, practical Advent study that guides readers to look
deeper at the meaning of Advent by focusing on a single word and
prayer method each week.
Christian joy is the constant awareness of the loving presence
of Jesus, the Son of God, in our hearts. Advent is a time when we
open our minds and hearts to search for the light of love,
compassion, and peace in the Word of God. It is a time set aside
for more intentional reading of the Word of God-reading that leads
to personal reflection, prayer, contemplation, and humble service
to others. Advent challenges us to remove the barriers of
arrogance, sadness, selfishness, and greed that hinder us from
welcoming Christ with joy and living in communion with him and our
brothers and sisters.
--From the introduction
The true meaning of Advent and Christmas finds its voice in
Joyful Meditations for Every Day of Advent and the 12 Days of
Christmas. From the First Sunday of Advent through Christmas and
Epiphany for each liturgical year (A, B, and C), this book will
help prepare for and deepen our experience this holy season.
Opening each daily reflection is a Scripture quote from the
day's readings. The reflection then reaches out to us in our busy
lives to consider what God's Word has to offer us during the
holidays. Next, a thought to ponder brings home the message for
you-to really apply the reading and reflection to your life. Now
say a Prayer, an offering and petition to the Lord in our
anticipation of his arrival; finally a practice, a chance to change
your daily routine in simple ways to bring God's love to your life
this joyous season.
This book is a continuation of the magickal series presented by the
same author in The Divine Plan, Book of Clouds,
A compilation of prayer from Theistic Satanists and Daemonolators.
Also included are proverbs and the Al Jilwah (with Demonolatry
based commentary).

A famous book based on the theme of founding one\'s whole spiritual
life on the lessons we learn from the Passion and Death of Jesus.
Includes 31 meditations on different aspects of the Passion. Each
meditation has 3 points, followed by a holy resolution to be taken
and an example from the life of a Saint. The book also has many
extras -- the Five Holy Wounds, visits to a crucifix, Mary Queen of
Dolors, How to assist well at Mass, and more Impr. 393 pgs, PB
A person's conduct derives from the context of life that they have
chosen for themselves. This is why something could be right to one,
but bad to another. This is also why one might avoid the very
things that other people are excited about. God is Phanuel's
preferred context of life, the context that he sells in this book.
The motivation for writing this book was Phanuel's desire to see
people pursuing success in the God-context. In putting across his
argument, Phanuel introduces a unique concept - the concept of the
Total Quality Individual. Phanuel believes that people should not
seek just to be successful, but to be of a higher order - Total
Quality Individuals (TQIs).
"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers
will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind
of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshippers
must worship Him] in spirit and in truth" (John 4:23-24). In John
4:23-24, Jesus talked about true worshippers. This implies that
there also were false worshippers, as is the case even now. Are you
the kind of worshipper that the Father seeks? "Examine yourselves
to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves" (2
Corinthians 13:5, NIV). Every worshipper needs to do this always;
this is where this book comes in handy. "Am I a hypocrite? Am I
not?" you might already be quizzing yourself. You do not need to
wonder anymore, for the answer is just pages away.
