Your birth chart is a snapshot of the sky taken at the moment and place of your birth, one that reflects your character, personality, strengths, and challenges. But the moment after that picture was taken, the planets moved on--some quickly, some very slowly. Astrologers call the moving planets "transits," and by comparing their movements to your birth chart you can gain a complete view of how best to prepare for challenges, meet opportunities, and stay grounded in a constantly-changing world. In Astrological Transits, astrologer April Elliott Kent will guide you through the best ways to make the most of your birth chart. Learn how to make the most of good transits and harness and transform the energy of "bad" ones. You'll also understand planetary cycles and anticipate your own transits. Finally, you'll know how to read planetary return charts, work with planetary retrogrades, and use eclipses to recognize major patterns and turning points in your life. If you are comfortable reading a birth chart, you are ready to move your chart into the future using transits. Instructions, tables, and worksheets will make tracking your transit cycles simple and exciting!
In recent years astrology has seen a resurgence of growth and change that is transforming this ancient subject into an exciting, profound and entirely contemporary discipline. Catalysed by Carl Gustav Jung's pioneering work, psychology's effects on astrology - and astrology's effects on psychology - have been revolutionary. Here, in one remarkable volume, master astrologer Peter Malsin brings uniquely clear vision to these two subjects as he provides the reader with new tools for transformation, understanding and growth.
Solar returns employ the astrological technique of reading the next year's activity for a chart calculated for when the transiting Sun returns to its natal position. Almost every Western astrologer has tried to use solar returns. However, there have been so many methods proposed, that the beginner in this technique is often bewildered about how to get the core meanings out of this system. Dr. Lehman uses 240 examples, including one example of 11 consecutive returns, and another with 41 consecutive returns, as well as other examples by subject, to illustrate not only the cycles found within solar returns, but how to apply them. Learn about solar returns for relationships, jobs, financial success, children, relocation, education, honors, medical issues, as well as death. Dr. Lehman takes you through the method, the application, and the kinds of issues raised by this method.
Despite incredible and previously undreamed-of advances in modern medicine, for many women the issue of infertility remains a heart-breaking reality. Using a combination of traditional and modern astrological techniques, the author has delved deeply into the charts of hundreds of infertile women, and in many cases has unravelled what might be at the root of the problem. Sometimes it's a matter of location or timing, or it could be psychological issues in the relationship that are causing the block; whatever the reason, the author works closely with the couple - and often the medical profession - to produce results that are frequently positive where there has been no hope before. Although this is an advanced textbook for astrologers, the human element of the case histories is nothing short of inspiring, and from that perspective can be enjoyed by readers with no knowledge of astrology.

Astrology has been open to criticism through a large part of its long history. In this groundbreaking book Bernadette Brady gives new insights in the intensity of these criticisms by placing astrology into its initial setting, its original world of ancient creation myths linked to the great creative void. Modern chaos theory has now rediscovered this void and Brady maps astrology to chaos theory to produce "chaotic astrology". The result is an insight into fate, freewill and the nature of astrology itself implying that it is neither a science nor a religion, and suggests instead that astrology is an instrument of chaos, a fertile and pragmatic tool for understanding the patterns of life. Original and insightful as ever, Brady navigates the reader through a breath-taking journey which can change forever the way one views the world.

NEW AGE / ASTROLOGY "Insightful and grounded in the authentic calendar tradition, this much needed book is an ingenious exposition of Mayan astrology. It explains in simple terms, and fully utilizes, many indispensable features that are too often overlooked, providing an unparalleled practical guide and everyday reference."--John Major Jenkins, author of Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 How to Practice Mayan Astrology presents a contemporary guide to one of the most sophisticated astrological systems ever developed. Like other ancient peoples, the Maya looked to the cycles of the planets as markers of time and designators of order. The predictable cycles they observed became codified in the Mayan calendar and astrological system as a way of organizing the seeming chaos of human life. Mayan astrology is based on 20 named days that are cycled 13 times to create a 260-day calendar, the Tzolkin. The authors explain the symbolism, logic, and meaning of the 20 day-signs; how these signs reflect 260 possible personality types; and how they can be used for divination. They also explain the important role of the Four Directions and the planet Venus in one's personality matrix and life issues. Included are extensive, easy-to-use tables of Mayan astrological data, allowing readers to determine their day-signs, to see how these signs are also influenced by the cycle of the Night Lords and the 13-day trecena, and to cast their own horoscopes. Bruce Scofield is the author of seven books on astrology, including Day-Signs: Native American Astrology from Ancient Mexico and Signs of the Time: An Introduction to Mesoamerican Astrology. He has been a practicing astrologer since 1969 and lives in Amherst, Massachusetts. Barry C. Orr is a software developer who designed some of the early computer programs used by technical astrologers. He is coauthor, with Bruce Scofield, of the Maya-Aztec Astro Report, a software program that identifies personality delineations based on the Mayan calendar. He lives in New Jersey.

This book surveys ancient depictions of planets, affiliations between the planets and the zodiac, lots, houses or places, aspects, orientality, and fixed stars. Students and professional astrologers will find this book a treasure of astrological insight, technique, and new interpretative possibilities. Not only will you gain knowledge of how ancient astrologers practiced their trade, but you will also have new tools that apply to modern life.

The technique known today as primary directions is one of the most ancient and renowned methods of astrological forecasting, and also one of the most powerful. From classical antiquity throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and even into the twentieth century, all the great names of western astrology have worked with primary directions. It was the predictive technique of Dorotheus and Ptolemy, of Masha'allah and Abu Ma'shar, of Regiomontanus and Placidus, of Morin de Villefranche and William Lilly. To understand the Old Masters of astrology, we must understand primary directions. Students of traditional astrology have often been deterred by overly mathematical presentations from approaching the important subject of directions. This comprehensive study explains the principles of primary directions in an accessible form, illustrating them by practical examples. It also draws on many original source texts to outline the historical origins and development of the technique, and shows how it has been reinterpreted and occasionally misunderstood. A full glossary and appendices with software reviews as well as formulae for manual calculations complement the text. The craft of the Old Masters can still be learnt.
Whether as muse, silver goddess, nourishing mother, priestess, maid, siren or witch, the influence of the Moon on our personality and perception is one of the least understood factors in our daily lives. Luna has fascinated, inspired, and frightened us since the dawn of human history yet She of the Three Faces is the clue to our most emotional and instinctive selves. This new work by Paul F. Newman probes the subtle meanings of habit and the irrational that the astrological Moon conveys and how we can comprehend it and make use of it for our benefit and security. The triple aspect of Luna is treated as paramount with examples of the effect of New Moon, Full Moon and Old Moon in the monthly round. There is also a new way of grasping the consequence of New and Full Moons according to their declinational hemisphere, and the difference between summer and winter moons. While all computational aspects of the Moon are covered (phases, cycles, moon mansions, progressed moons, magic squares etc.) along with the meaning of how these things affect us, it is the poetic side of Luna that equally informs our approach. A substantial part of the book also covers the Black Moon Lilith, (the Moon at apogee), with new insights into this lady of noire and her astrological resonance. From the fall of dew to the markings on a cheetah's eyes, there is more to the Moon than we know...
Planetary Combination picks up where Planetary Strength left off, explaining how the planetary influences combine in aspects and configurations to paint a picture of a person and his or her life. Descriptions of planetary configurations such as grand trines, grand squares, T-squares, wedges, fans, rectangles, kites, and trapezoids provide overall schematics of people's psychological dynamics. Then, detailed interpretations for the conjunctions, sextiles/trines, squares, oppositions, parallels/contraparallels, and mutual receptions between the individual planets enable the practitioner to see clearly how these dynamics work out in a particular horoscope. An illuminating chapter on planetary conjunctions with the Moon's nodes reveals the underlying karmic influences at work. An indispensable reference you'll consult every time you read a chart. "Planetary Combination is an excellent and comprehensive summary of all the relevant chart factors...One has to search hard to find such material! But this is all presented, as is all of Makransky's work, with vigour, wisdom and accessibility...Much of the book is taken up - as we might expect - with a very generous coverage of the astrological aspects. I looked up a few of my own and they were spot on...Planetary Combination fills a gap in the current state of astrological literature. It manages to retain both a sense of firm tradition whilst feeling utterly new and fresh." James Lynn Page, author of Everyday Tarot, Celtic Magic, The Christ Enigma and The New Positive Thinking.
