Baird T. Spalding played a ground-breaking role when he introduced
the Western world to the wonders of a Far East expedition in 1894.
The knowledge of "Masters" assisting and guiding humanity in the
classic book Life And Teaching Of The Masters Of The Far East
became legend in metaphysical circles during the first half of the
20th century and continues today as a source of spiritual
enlightenment. Spalding and the others were practical in nature and
the thought of spiritual masters performing miracles seemed
impossible. Despite these suspect thoughts, something compelled
them to move onward. So they did. Originally published as 3
separate volumes, this new, single volume edition comes with a new
introduction by Mitch Horowitz. It is within these 3 volumes that
Spalding details an expedition that lasted 3 years and covered the
mountainous landscape of Nepal and India near the close of the 19th
century.

Is America an assignment of destiny? What is the symbolism of the
Great Seal of the U.S.? Who was the mysterious stranger who swayed
the signers of the Declaration of Independence? According to Lord
Bacon, The New Atlantis seems to have been set apart for the great
experiment of enlightened self-government long before the founding
fathers envisioned the rise of the American Republic. Investigating
the often neglected fragments of history, evidence is presented
indicating that the seeds of democracy were planted one thousand
years before the beginning of the Christian Era.
Pursuing special experiences that take them to the brink of
permanent madness or death, men and women in every age have
"returned" to heal and comfort their fellow human beings--and these
shamans have fascinated students of society from Herodotus to
Mircea Eliade. Gloria Flaherty's book is about the first Western
encounters with shamanic peoples and practices. Flaherty makes us
see the eighteenth century as an age in which explorers were
fascinating all Europe with tales of shamans who accomplished a
"self-induced cure for a self-induced fit." Reports from what must
have seemed a forbidden world of strange rites and moral
licentiousness came from botanists, geographers, missionaries, and
other travelers of the period, and these accounts created such a
stir that they permeated caf talk, journal articles, and learned
debates, giving rise to plays, encyclopedia articles, art, and
operas about shamanism. The first part of the book describes in
rich detail how information about shamanism entered the
intellectual mainstream of the eighteenth century. In the second
part Flaherty analyzes the artistic and critical implications of
that process. In so doing, she offers remarkable chapters on
Diderot, Herder, Goethe, and the cult of the genius of Mozart, as
well as a chapter devoted to a new reading of Goethe's Faust that
views Faust as the modern shaman.

As a modern version of one of the greatest classics of esoteric
literature, this book is rich in symbolism with a narrative and
visual manifestation that will mesmerise the reader. Simultaneously
simple and complex, this work will help open wide the door of
knowledge. Each chapter is accompanied by an image whose graphic,
enigmatic and archetypal form artistically represents the infinite
wisdom that the work possesses. These optical illusions give the
reader a better visualization of the universe and how immensely
infinite it is, in addition to how imperceptible it may be in the
eyes of the human being...

This edition of The Mirror of the Simple Soul was originally
published in 1927. At that time the author of the manuscript was
unknown. It has since been attributed to Marguerite Porete, a
French mystic. She was burnt at the stake for heresy in Paris in
1310 after a lengthy trial, after refusing to remove her book from
circulation or recant her views. The book is cited as one the
primary texts of the medieval Heresy of the Free Spirit. Porete's
life is recorded only in accounts of her trial for heresy, at which
she was condemned to be burnt at the stake. She is associated with
the Beguine movement, and was therefore able to travel fairly
freely. Until 1946, it was not even known that she was the writer
of the Mirror, which had been published anonymously since her
death. The title of Porete's book refers to the simple soul which
is united with God and has no will other than His. Porete's vision
of the Soul is of ecstatic union with God, moving in a state of
perpetual joy and peace. Porete argues that the Soul in such a
sublime state is above the demands of ordinary virtue, not because
virtue is not needed but because in its state of union with God
virtue becomes automatic. As God can do no evil and cannot sin, the
exalted/Annihilated soul, in perfect union with Him, no longer is
capable of evil or sin.
Continuing the journey begun in his acclaimed book "The Cosmic
Serpent," the noted anthropologist ventures firsthand into both
traditional cultures and the most up-todate discoveries of
contemporary science to determine nature's secret ways of knowing.
Anthropologist Jeremy Narby has altered how we understand the
Shamanic cultures and traditions that have undergone a worldwide
revival in recent years. Now, in one of his most extraordinary
journeys, Narby travels the globe-from the Amazon Basin to the Far
East-to probe what traditional healers and pioneering researchers
understand about the intelligence present in all forms of life.
"Intelligence in Nature" presents overwhelming illustrative
evidence that independent intelligence is not unique to humanity
alone. Indeed, bacteria, plants, animals, and other forms of
nonhuman life display an uncanny penchant for self-deterministic
decisions, patterns, and actions.
Narby presents the first in-depth anthropological study of this
concept in the West. He not only uncovers a mysterious thread of
intelligent behavior within the natural world but also probes the
question of what humanity can learn from nature's economy and
knowingness in its own search for a saner and more sustainable way
of life.
Based on an ancestral Hawaiian shamanic ritual, the healing
practice of Ho'oponopono teaches you to cleanse your consciousness
of negative memories, unconscious fears, and dysfunctional
programming and grant yourself forgiveness, peace, and love. The
process is deceptively simple - first you must recognize your own
responsibility for creating the events in your life, then you are
ready to apply the mantra of Ho'oponopono: I'm sorry, Forgive me,
Thank you, I love you. Repeated several times over a dedicated
interval, the negativity is replaced with inner peace, love, and
harmony and, as the stories in this book show, sometimes even
miracles take place. In this step-by-step guide, the authors
explain how to apply Ho'oponopono to traumatic past events,
destructive thought patterns, family dynamics, daily annoyances, or
any other disagreeable event in your life. Drawing on quantum
physics and epigenetics, they explore how Ho'oponopono works - how
thoughts and consciousness can affect the expression of your DNA,
the materialization of your goals, and the behavior of those around
you.
This is a NEW (2010) easy-to-read translation by ancient languages
scholar Dr. A. Nyland and is NOT one of the many Public Domain
translations of Enoch NOR IS IT A REWORDED PUBLIC DOMAIN VERSION of
Enoch. Great advances which have been made in ancient word meaning
in the last twenty years were unknown to the translators of the
public domain versions of the late nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries. There are copious background notes and cross references.
This book is an easy to read translation with cross references and
notes. Ideal for those interested in Theosophy Despite the current
trend for non-translators to reproduce public domain versions (both
as is and disguised by slight rewording) as a commercial venture,
be aware that such public domain versions do not take advantage of
recent scholarship. This new translation by Dr. A. Nyland contains
all three books of Enoch: 1 Enoch (Also called The Ethiopic Book of
Enoch) 2 Enoch (Also called The Slavonic Book of Enoch, The Secrets
of Enoch). This volume contains the extended version of 2 Enoch,
The Exaltation of Melchizedek. 3 Enoch (Also called The Hebrew Book
of Enoch) Note that this is Dr. Nyland's translation and NOT a
public domain work. 1 Enoch tells of the Watchers, a class of
angel, who taught humans weapons, spell potions, root cuttings,
astrology, astronomy, and alchemies. The Watchers also slept with
human women and produced the Nephilim. For this, they were
imprisoned and cast into Tartarus. This is also mentioned in the
New Testament. In 2 Enoch, two angels take Enoch through the 7
heavens. This volume contains the extended version of 2 Enoch, The
Exaltation of Melchizedek. In 3 Enoch, Enoch ascends to heaven and
is transformed into the angel Metatron. This is about the Merkabah
and is of interest to Kabbalists. People interested in Theosophy
and Rosicrucianism will find this book invaluable. Dr. A. Nyland is
an ancient language scholar and lexicographer who served as Faculty
at the University of New England, Australia. Dr. Nyland is also the
translator of "The Book of Jubilees," and "The Gospel of Thomas,"
among others. She is also the author of the Amy Stuart Mystery
series.
Presenting lore that can spiritually enrich anyone's life, this

is exhaustively researched yet easy to use. It includes over one
thousand alphabetical entries, from Aaron to Zohar Chadesh, with
extensive cross-references to related topics. With a quick

Traces the pagan-Christian link of the symbolism of the axis-mundi
from standing stones and market crosses to the inscribed slabs and
free-standing crosses of the Celtic-Christian era. Examines the
ornamented Celtic crosses from such places as Brittany, Wales,
Scotland, the Isle of Man, Cumbria, Ireland, and Cornwall.
Rachel True, an actress best known for her role in The Craft, is a
lifelong occultist - she had been reading tarot cards long before
being cast in the 90s witchy cult classic. Now, True shares her
tarot knowledge through her unique guidebook and deck boxed set.
Each card in the deck is uniquely made following a beautiful,
multicultural aesthetic. True's guidebook helps readers use the
cards as she does: with an intuitive approach, rather than
assigning one literal definition to each card. She shares personal
stories from her experiences in Hollywood to explain how the cards
can mean something different for each person, depending on their
unique set of circumstances. True's stance is that tarot cards
don't predict the future, but rather suggest possible outcomes
based on the reader's present energy.
'A major work ... an extraordinary tour de force, [this book] will
materially help to bring both sides (science and paranormal
studies) together in a way which could lead to real and important
advances in our view of the universe' - New Scientist First
published in 1978, Mysteries is the powerful and enlightening
sequel to The Occult, continuing Colin Wilson's investigations into
the paranormal, the occult and the supernatural. The experience of
his own panic attacks gave Wilson his insight into the concept of
the ladder or hierarchy of selves with which we are all associated.
In this book he fully explores this idea of multiple selves,
explaining how our lower, childish selves are linked to depression
and anxiety. The book offers an optimistic message to counteract
our contemporary tendency towards pessimism and nihilism:
purposeful activity will always allow us to call on our higher
selves and bring concentration, control and a sense of meaning into
life. Wilson uses the concept of the multi-personality to explain a
wide range of paranormal phenomenon, from dowsing and demonic
possession to precognition and spoon-bending, and he analyses the
work of all the big names in 20th-century supra-rational research
(from T C Lethbridge to Margaret Murray to Carl Jung) from this
perspective. The story ranges widely, from the stone circles to
1960s LSD adventures, and Wilson's analysis is woven with hundreds
of entertaining paranormal anecdotes and case studies taken from
throughout history, including his own experiences of dowsing at the
Merry Maidens stone circle and of visions and lucid dreaming.
Everyone knows that being different is a good way to be unpopular,
but what if you're so different that people think you are an actual
servant of evil? Conform or Be Cast Out is a history of humankind's
tendency not only to shun nonconformists, but to label them as
devils, demons, and Satan worshippers. Beginning with scapegoats
and devil figures in folklore and mythology, the book moves on to
look at other aspects of nonconformity such as witchcraft, the
Inquisition, spiritualism and medical conditions once mistaken for
lycanthropy, vampirism, and demonic possession before concluding
with a discussion on aspects of contemporary culture ranging from
heavy metal music to zombie movies.
