Learn to putt . . . perfectly 'How to never miss a 4ft putt . . .
ever. The perfect putting method' GQ Magazine ________________
Learn how to master the Trevillion Pencil Grip - the foolproof
method that has been adopted by the professionals themselves:
Fleetwood, Rose, Garcia, Francesco Molinari and Branden Grace are
just a few . . . Championships are won and lost on the putting
green, and one of the most repeated phrases after a disappointing
round of golf is 'If only I'd holed my putts'. But there is a
simple way to dramatically improve your 'pressure putt'
performance: The Trevillion Pencil Grip. Renowned sports artist
Paul Trevillion is the inventor of the uniquely effective
split-hand technique. He describes the pencil grip, which he spent
four decades refining, as the 'art' of putting: you aim at the hole
and draw a straight line. As he explains: 'Too often on TV you
hear, "he pushed the putt"... but an artist never pushes a pencil.'
In The Art of Putting, Paul Trevillion discusses the evolution of
putting methods and reveals the secret of his technique with
honesty and humour. Instructive, entertaining, practical, unique
and effective, this book is one of the soundest investments any
golfer can make to ensure that they never miss a four-foot putt. 'I
am so confident in my putter and method that I challenged the top
50 golfers in the world to a $1000,000.00 putting challenge' Paul
Trevillion 'Very few titles are won by golfers who putt badly, no
matter how supreme a player's ball striking is, such prowess will
always be undone by a missed three-footer . . . putting is an art
rather than a science' BBC SPORT
This is the story of a man with a dream--as well as the vision and
passion to make it come true. The dream was to build a great
American links course, one that would contain all the excitement of
the famous golfing destinations in Scotland and Ireland, storied
places like St. Andrews and Ballybunion. The man was Mike Keiser,
an entrepreneur and amateur golf enthusiast, founder of the
successful company Recycled Paper Greetings, and "Dream Golf" is
the story of how, with the help of some of the most colorful--and
occasionally controversial--men in golf, he transformed a remote
area on Oregon's Pacific coast into not one, but three of the most
stunning, challenging, and highly ranked courses in the
world.
It began modestly, when Mike Keiser decided to build a nine-hole
"dunes" course and golf club on the shore of Lake Michigan, near
his home in Chicago. The experience prompted him to look further,
with the goal of realizing a dream that he had harbored for some
time: to bring to American golfers the same kind of experience he
had enjoyed while playing some of the legendary courses of the
British Isles, "links" courses that had evolved naturally to fit
the rugged, heaving coastal terrain. These ancient courses were the
antithesis of most modern American courses, where the features were
shaped by bulldozers and all too often look sleek, manicured, and
artificial.
No, Bandon Dunes would be a "pure" golf experience, pitting the
golfer against the elements, allowing the land to dictate the
course, banning the use of carts, making the golfer feel at one
with both nature and the game. To achieve that goal would take a
great amount of planning and hard work, the struggle of man against
nature in shaping the land into three courses that would become the
Bandon Dunes complex. Conventional wisdom said it was impossible.
And even if he built it, would anyone come to this remote Oregon
outpost?
"Dream Golf" is the first complete account of how drive and
determination, coupled with the best minds in the game, created a
utopian golf experience in a place of breathtaking natural beauty.
It is the gripping and compelling account of how one man followed
his dream to its greatest conclusion.
Golf saved Drew Millard’s life, and he wants it to save yours,
too. At its core, golf is about developing new skills, honing them
through practice, and then contemplating the moment and figuring
out which skill fits the circumstances. It’s like therapy, just
minus the therapist—plus cooler gear and beer. Golf offers
camaraderie, time in nature, and a prism through which to view the
world. It can genuinely help people live better and more fulfilling
lives. Author Drew Millard writes from experience: When a doctor
prescribed exercise to help with depression, golf gave him the
tools to recenter himself. For him, “sucking at golf was a
calling,” one that helped him find a sense of balance and
rhythm—both on the course and in his own mind.Brimming with
personality, accessibility, and a freewheeling spirit, How Golf Can
Save Your Life is a celebration of the sport and an examination of
all it offers: the pleasures, benefits, personal growth, and
friendships, as well as an appreciation for the land, ourselves,
and our time. This book will cause you to fall in love with golf,
whether for the first time or all over again.
Forever remembered as one of the most dramatic storylines in the
history of golf, Payne Stewart's phenomenal career was bookended by
a brass and colorful start and an inspired comeback with a
shocking, tragic end. Written off as a pompous showman past the
prime of his career, Stewart emerged from a long slump in the
unforgettable season of 1999 to capture the U.S. Open and play on
the victorious U.S. Ryder Cup team. He appeared to be a new man
that summer: wiser, deeper, and on the verge of a new level of
greatness. Then his journey to redemption ended in October, when
his chartered Learjet flew aimlessly for more than a thousand
miles, ran out of fuel, and fell to earth in a prairie in South
Dakota. His death marked the end of an era, one made up of
"shotmakers" who played the game with artistry, guile, finesse, and
heart. Behind them were Tiger Woods, David Duval, Phil Mickelson,
and other young players whose power and strength changed the PGA
Tour forever. With exclusive access to Stewart's friends, family,
and onetime colleagues, Kevin Robbins provides a long-overdue
portrait of one of golf's greats in one of golf's greatest seasons
In the ten years since Golf Anecdotes was first published, the game
and its players have changed dramatically. This new edition, now
with a foreword by Arnold Palmer and a new chapter covering the
latest and greatest golf stars like Annika Sorenstam and Tiger
Woods, reflects those changes. Readers can enjoy a sweeping look at
this royal and ancient game, in a volume that is both an informal
history as well as a vivid recounting of golf's most striking
incidents and personalities.
Robert Sommers takes us on a grand tour that stretches from the
game's dim origins in the 12th century right up to the modern PGA
tour. Indeed, no other anecdote book offers this much historical
depth or serves up such fascinating lore. We learn for instance
that the first known golf match took place in 1504, between James
IV of Scotland and the Earl of Bothwell. Sommers likewise paints a
colorful portrait of golf in the era of the first
professionals--Old Tom Morris, Allan Robertson, and Willie
Park--describing the earliest rules, the equipment used, the most
memorable events. Much of the book focuses on the 20th century.
Here readers will find wonderful tales of Harry Vardon and Francis
Ouimet, Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen, Sam Snead and Ben Hogan,
Joyce Wethered and Babe Zaharias, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus,
Tom Watson and Lee Trevino, Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam, Nick
Faldo and Greg Norman, and of course, the amazing Tiger Woods. Thus
the wide world of golf is presented, the first professionals and
the latest stars, the double eagles and the double hits.
Informative and highly entertaining, Golf Anecdotes will appeal to
anyone who loves the game.
The brainchild of Samuel Ryder, a wealthy seed merchant from St Albans, the Ryder Cup was a bi-annual British-American professional golf tournament that was first played for the trophy bearing his name in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1927. America won the match and gradually became the dominant force in the competition. During the 1960s the results were so one-sided that the Ryder Cup was expanded so that players from Ireland could compete for the British team. As the Americans continued to win comfortably, Jack Nicklaus led the movement to alter the teams so that European players were also allowed to compete against them. Since 1983 the contest has become one of the most competitive tournaments in the world, with many players achieving sporting immortality for their exploits on green and fairway on both sides of the Atlantic. This book examines the careers and Ryder Cup contributions of 50 of the greatest golfers in history, from Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer to Steve Ballesteros and Nick Faldo. Lavishly illustrated throughout, this book provides the perfect accompaniment to the upcoming tournament at Gleneagles in Scotland.

Two of the funniest books ever published on their respective
subjects - SAILING and GOLFING - are back. And better than ever.
Repackaged in the irresistibly chunky, compulsively readable small
square book format, each is a perfect gift for a new generation of
obsessives. GOLFING is even funnier than when it was originally
published. Now an avid golfer, Henry Beard brings the same passion
for improvement to writing about golf as he does to playing it, and
he's both added new definitions and rewritten many others. Like
whiff - "Familiar term widely misused to describe particularly fast
and powerful style of practice swing intentionally made directly
over the ball." A classic, SAILING is "...quite simply the funniest
book I have ever read" - William F. Buckley Jr. From ahoy - "The
first in a series of four-letter words commonly exchanged by
skippers as their boats approach each other" to zephyr - "A warm,
pleasant breeze named after the mythical Greed god of wishful
thinking, false hopes and unreliable forecasts" - it brings new
meaning to the things said at sea.

Mind Over Golf Whether you struggle to break 100 or consistently
break par, you've already discovered that golf is the most mentally
demanding of all sports. Dr. Richard Coop, one of the foremost
sports psychologists in the country, has developed a unique mental
approach to the game, helping both skilled pros and beginning
amateurs alike to play better. Mind Over Golf examines all the
demanding psychological challenges of golf and explains in detail
how to conquer them. Golfers have discovered that there are ways to
lower their scores that go beyond getting tips on their swing and
stance. In order to play better, you have to find the key that
allows your natural athletic ability to come to the fore, without
being impeded by anxiety about making a poor shot. By following Dr.
Coop's principles and ideas you'll be in the strongest possible
position, both physically and mentally, to put your best swing on
each shot. As Payne Stewart says in his foreword to Mind Over Golf,
""Not everyone can swing like a tour pro, but most everyone has it
within himself or herself to think like one, and Dr. Coop lays the
foundation for that within these pages."" Visit us online at http:

The U.S. Open in June 2008 produced one of the most unexpected,
dramatic, and memorable showdowns in golf history. Day after day,
Rocco Mediate, a respected journeyman whose career had been dogged
by injuries pushed the seemingly invincible Tiger Woods to his
physical and mental limits. Not even Mediate would ever have
predicted that for five days, he would match the unbeaten world
number one, explosive shot for explosive shot.
The first 72 holes ended with Mediate and Woods locked in a dead
heat, and an 18-hole Monday playoff was required to decide a
winner. When this was still not enough to break the tie, the two
men went into a sudden death round before a champion was finally
crowned. Through every stage, the irrepressible Rocco rose to the
ever-escalating pressure with clutch shots, grace, and humor,
emerging as one of the most likable and intriguing golfers of our
time.
Now, at last, Rocco Mediate tells his own story: his life on tour,
the battles to stay healthy enough to play, the everyday struggles
of a Tour player. It all leads up to his story of the Open, and the
joy he felt as he seized the challenge he'd dreamed of and trained
for his entire life. In this intimate collaboration with
bestselling author John Feinstein, Rocco Mediate looks back at his
life through the prism of the 2008 season and the life-changing
tournament. And through interviews with Rocco's family, friends,
and other top golfers, Feinstein vividly brings to life one of the
most heroic golfing battles of all time.
"?Think country-club clinic meets Navy Seals training. I will pay
any price, bear any burden, leave my home to follow the seasons,
build my own swing studio in the basement, construct a practice
green in my backyard. . . . Everything the big boys have access to,
I want double.?" Like most amateur golfers, Tom Coyne had often
wondered whether the pros won because they were more talented or
because they were more obsessed. Overweight and burdened by a 14
handicap, he decided to find out for himself what it takes to play
like a pro.
Charting his journey?which included hiring top golf gurus such
as Dr. Jim Suttie?"Paper Tiger" takes readers from the Michelob
tournament (a win for Tom) to the Australian Tour, where
forty-mile-per-hour winds and a driving rain scare off his Japanese
partners. With each chapter, he tracks his weight alongside his
handicap, pursuing his dream with a reckless abandon that comes to
involve hardcore diets, pricey technology, even psychologists. With
echoes of "Dead Solid Perfect" and "Who's Your Caddy?" Tom brings
his uniquely edgy, deeply human perspective to a game that can
simultaneously bring out the best and the worst in everyone who
tries to master it.
Great pro golfers, says the adage, "drive for show and putt for
dough." Though you may not be able to drive like a pro, you can
lower your golf score by sharpening your game around the pin. In

instruction for any golfer seeking to improve his or her short
game. With this book you'll learn: What factors to consider when
choosing a putter Three critical keys to a neutral grip Ten special
drills that can shave strokes off your game How to use the long
putter When to chip, when to pitch or when to putt
