The author combines his care and concern for street children and
his fondness for the game of golf, to bring out yet another in his
series of "We Care" stories. Based loosely on real life characters
and situations, his books have given us an insight into the plight
of kids with nowhere to live, but on the streets; and no one to
turn to, except each other.
His published work, The Saga of Alex and His Friends showed us
what could happen to these street kids when there is no one around
that cares. However, it also opened our eyes to the possibilities,
when there are people who do care, and are willing to do something
about it. "We Care" came about when these caring people got
together and pooled their resources to provide shelter and care for
homeless kids.
In this novel, which is a sequel to The Saga of Alex and His
Friends, Mr. Warner brings in a number of real life characters who
become involved in the "We Care" program.
This is where the game of golf gets worked into the story when a
talented young pianist, who is also a championship golfer, becomes
involved with the "We Care" home, and school for former homeless
boys.
Readers will find a wealth of interesting information about
golf, as well as an engrossing story in We Care About Golf.
Cliffhangers, tears, and heart-warming moments abound in Tom
Warner's second published novel; We Care About Golf.
Putting has often been described as an art, but the author of this book, by trade a physicist, has analyzed it as never before, using scientific principles. Pelz has come up with a system to perfect your putting stroke -- or at least to come as close to perfect as humanly possible.
Great pro golfers, says the adage, "drive for show and putt for
dough." Though you may not be able to drive like a pro, you can
lower your golf score by sharpening your game around the pin. In
this book, noted pro golfer, John Garrity provides lucid, practical
instruction for any golfer seeking to improve his or her short
game. With this book you'll learn: What factors to consider when
choosing a putter Three critical keys to a neutral grip Ten special
drills that can shave strokes off your game How to use the long
putter When to chip, when to pitch or when to putt
The game of golf has changed dramatically over the last 20 years,
with powerful, big-hitting players dominating at the elite level.
With limitation and regulation of equipment being mandated by the
R&A, players are increasingly looking to alternative options to
increase their physicality to improve likelihood of winning. This
is an area in which adding strength and conditioning training to a
golfer's training programme will help to benefit performance.
However, many players and coaches lack confidence or knowledge to
train with strength and conditioning techniques, which is where
this book, focusing on strength and conditioning and its
application in golf, will help. Strength and Conditioning for Golf
provides golfers and coaches with the evidence and practical
suggestions to ensure that the choices they make about their
training are informed and objective. This new volume examines why
strength and conditioning techniques and principles are important
for modern golf, blending scientific principles with real-world,
practical advice and tips. Strength and Conditioning for Golf is of
interest to golfers and coaches of all levels, as well as being of
interest to researchers, students and coaches in the fields of;
strength and conditioning, fitness and training, performance
analysis, skill acquisition and other related sport science
disciplines.

So, who’s the best of 'em all? Tiger Woods? Jack Nicklaus? Bobby Jones?
Ben Hogan? Golf fans will disagree until the end of time, but one thing
is certain: For well over 100 years, the sport has provided its share
of spectacular careers and indelible moments. And what about fan
favorites such as Phil Mickelson, Nancy Lopez, and Lee Trevino? Where
do they rank on the list? Or modern players like Scottie Scheffler,
Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Nelly Korda, and Justin
Thomas. Did they make the final cut―and if so, where?
In a joyride through golf history itself, New York Times bestselling
author Michael Arkush establishes a ranking system that places a heavy
emphasis on the game’s major championships and profiles the most
accomplished and impactful golfers ever―men and women, known and
unknown. Arkush captures the flair, as well as the flaws, of athletes
who are intensely competitive, funny, peculiar, or larger-than-life.
Crafted from hundreds of interviews and longtime relationships
developed over a quarter century, The Golf 100 is an immensely
entertaining read.
This book illustrates correct techniques and demonstrates how to
achieve optimal results in Golf. It focuses on skills and drills or
program design, and addresses a broad range of strategies
specifically designed to improve performance now and in the future.

summary and assessment of technical and scientific research on the
environmental effects of turfgrass system construction and
maintenance. Although the book focuses on golf courses, it also

management for turfgrass scientists and specialists, landscape and
golf course architects, turfgrass system and golf course

Longlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year 2014 After
finishing high school in New York, Oliver Horovitz was accepted to
Harvard University. But there was a problem; he couldn't start
until the following year. With time on his hands and a
long-standing love of golf, the solution was obvious: a gap year at
the University of St. Andrews, alongside the iconic Old Course,
known around the world as 'the home of golf'. At the end of term,
Ollie joined the St. Andrews caddie trainee programme and spent the
summer lining up at the caddie shack, looping two, sometimes three,
rounds a day, with the notoriously gruff veteran caddies. And so
began an adventure that would change his life in unexpected ways.
Originally published in the 1920s, this is a detailed guide to golf
technique. With all points illustrated by wealth of photographs,
this book still has much practical advice to offer the modern
golfer, as well as historical interest. "Only a gifted writer, who
is also a player of wide experience, could have dealt so admirably
with the lore and traditions of the game, and at the same time
offerd the reader such masterly instruction on how to become a
golfer. Golfers - whether beginners or not - will find knowledge of
value, especially in the skilfully selected illustrations and their
captions."Contents Include Dedication Foreword by Bernard Darwin

In 2003, after winning six of the twelve majors from 2000 to 2002,
Tiger Woods struggled with his swing, leaving him lagging behind
the field at both the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. With
Woods out of the picture, the stage was set for a newcomer to claim
the top position. Nobody expected that four virtually unknown
players would rise to become first-time champions.
In his debut appearance in a major, Ben Curtis became the only
player since Francis Ouimet in 1913 to prevail on his first time
out. Mike Weir--who was considered a good player but not a great
one--triumphed in The Masters, becoming the first Canadian to win a
major. In the U.S. Open, Jim Furyk was victorious, and the PGA
Championship was claimed by the unknown Shawn Micheel.
But after each player's history-making season, the four have had
little further success. 2008 is the first year since that
unexpected year, when it will be possible for the four golfers to
qualify for the tour.""In MOMENT OF GLORY, John Feinstein returns
to the unlikely year of 2003 and chronicle the personal and
professional struggles of these four players. With great affection
for the underdog and extraordinary access to the players, he then
looks to the 2008 season, giving readers an insider's look into to
how winning (and losing) major championships changes players'
lives.
