This is a golf story about bullies. This picture book is part of
the bully series of "Adventures in SportsLand" that focuses on
bullies. This series consists of ten (10) children picture books
(Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Golf, Tennis and
Volleyball) - two in Spanish - that are fun, attractive and
educational. These non-violent books subliminally teach children
how to better understand the handling of bullies. This bully series
is aimed toward children who are just beginning to interact with
sport teams, coaches, fans and players. These stories will serve as
an educational tool as the characters play out real life situations
and learn how to cope and handle them. Also it serves as an
excellent means for an adult to start a conversation with a child
about bullies, sportsmanship, family, moral values, good behavior,
playing fair and most important - just having fun. Each book
contains 32 illustrated pages that feature LuckySports characters
(some helpful, some not) that are given a second chance in life as
sport cartoon characters in a magical world of SportsLand, where
sport is KING and playing is FUN. Children will experience all the
ACTION, FUN and ADVENTURE of SportsLand. What is Adventures in
SportsLand? Adventures in SportsLand's Bully Series is a collection
of sports stories that teach children - (who are just beginning to
interact with sports teams, coaches, fans and players) - about
sports, along with good behavior, confidence building, playing fair
and most important... just having fun. These books will help
children (adults too ) to better understand how to handle bullies.
Bullies in school, sports and playground are timely issues. Bully
influence can impact and shape young children's future views of
life.
"Talk about humble beginnings... a pile of wet sand." The
development of the golf tee is the last significant change in the
rules of golf. The simple little wooden tee may be golf's most
innovative invention. It has affected golf courses, their length
and design. It has affected the creation of the new technology used
in the development of drivers, irons, shafts and golf balls. It has
made playing golf easier and more enjoyable. It has provided the
awe of long drives for professionals and amateurs alike . The
ruling authorities, the USGA and the R&A, did not define the
golf tee in its rules until 2004. There are numerous mentions and
chapters in golf books on the subject of golf tees, but, at best
there is very little information about the history of the golf tee.
It appears this category of golfing history has been left
unattended and underappreciated, probably viewed as lacking
sufficient information, interest or importance. It may be they were
viewed as being "illegal." The actions of the USGA over the past
fifteen years concerning the development of the oversize
high-technology drivers have increased the need and understanding
of the use of these artificial golf tees. During the past century,
the simple golf tee has not gone unnoticed by golf tee inventors
who have created over 400 golf tee designs. Over 300 individuals
have thought enough of their inventions that they have spent the
money to patent their golf tee. Based on all the prior rules of
golf, by definition, they are artificial to the rules of golf. As
such, the majority of the designs should have been illegal if used
in competition prior to 2004. GOLF TEES TEEOGRAPHY covers the
history and evolution of the golf tee and design of golf tees since
the first written Rules of Golf in 1744. Featured Chapters include:
Robert Trent Jones, Jr, - Excerpts from "Tee it down," presented to
the American Society of Golf Course Architects; Richard Crose of
South Africa, inventor of the Brush-T and its international
marketing; and Joan Lowell Smith, granddaughter of William Lowell,
Sr and Lowell family historian.
Young, old, or in between, The Hacker's Bible will teach you the
game of Golf. To become a good golfer, certain techniques must be
studied, learned, and performed. Sit first and relax. Take the time
to read what this book says about playing golf. Then go out and do
it: End up satisfied and playing the real Game of Golf
On and off the links, Bob has been a strong competitor and an even
stronger friend to fellow aficionados of the game. He taught golf
for beginners in grades 4 through 8 in Vigo County for five summers
before he coached high school golf for 26 seasons, the past 24 at
Terre Haute South where his boys finished second, third and fourth
at the IHSAA State Finals and his girls claimed eighth in the 1988
finals. Bob's students have gone on to display exceptional
sportsmanship, win championships and secure positions as golf pros
and competitive professionals around the country. As a result, in
1994, Bob was inducted into the Terre Haute Golf Association Hall
of Fame. He is also in the Indiana Golf Coaches Hall of Fame. Bob's
competitive golf game was set in motion when he won the Terre Haute
Junior title in 1949. He later played at Indiana State Teachers
College, now Indiana State University (ISU), and was the No. 1
player for three seasons, winning three Indiana Collegiate
Conference titles and two Little State Championships. He was named
ISU's Most Outstanding Athlete in 1954, the first golfer in the
history of the institution to win the award. He won three Casey
Opens, the Spaghetti Open, the Roundup of Champions and the 1988
City Seniors Championship. Bob teamed with Art Blakely to win the
Terre Haute Four Ball title in 1963 and was medalist in the 1971
Terre Haute Golf Association Interclub Tournament. He has also
served as president of the Rea Park Men's Club, Hulman Links Men's
Club and the Terre Haute Golf Association.
