Life with horses is not easy, but neither is life without them... I enjoy blessing with hooves and manes, so I have chosen the path of the horseman. Horses give us so much more than a ride. They give us a mental and emotional lift. In Equuality, I share my reflections on blessings I have received, lessons I have learned, and joys I have experienced while walking the path of the horseman. Through humorous anecdotes, poignant insights, and touching stories, the essays in this volume remind us to look for and receive the gifts offered by our equine partners. When we undertake this process, we begin to experience horses with a depth of appreciation and gratitiude that makes each day a wonder. Not only will our horsemanship blossom to new levels as we experience the lessons and blessings of our horses, we will also discover an amazing spirit within ourselves that fuels growth throughout our entire lives.

There is widespread belief in a warm and comforting story which states the horse is a gentle herbivore. What if a Rosetta Stone had been found to unlock the dark secrets of the horse s past? An international multi-million dollar industry serviced by horse whisperers, glossy magazines and popular culture preaches that horses are meek prey animals who fear predators. What if evidence demonstrated horses have slain lions, tigers, pumas, wolves, hyenas and humans? Contemporary writers have successfully airbrushed murderous and meat-eating horses out of literature. What if Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes and Steve McQueen provided artistic evidence to refute that claim? Thanks to global equestrian amnesia, the crucial role played by horses in recent history has been lost to mankind. What if testimony revealed meat-eating horses had been used to explore the Poles and photographs had been discovered of Tibet s blood-eating horses? Deadly Equines is a revolutionary departure from equestrian romance. It is a fact-filled analysis which reveals how humanity has known about meat-eating horses for at least four thousand years, during which time horses have consumed nearly two dozen different types of protein, including human flesh, and that these episodes have occurred on every continent, including Antarctica. Various sources of corroborating data, including legends, literature, cinema, news stories, scientific reports and eyewitness accounts are presented for the reader s investigation. None of these items had been hidden. They were ignored, misinterpreted or, in some cases, censored. The result is the first exploration of the horse s hidden history, an alternative equestrian world populated by forgotten facts, overlooked evidence and astonishing stories. Amply illustrated, and containing a map of occurrences, this study challenges the reader to develop a new under-standing of the horse, one based upon reason, not fantasy.
Beyond the Dream Horse describes how turning around many standard beliefs about horses and training can allow an honest relationship to flourish. True experience providing a different perspective and insight that help remove the self-created wall that often seperates people from horses. This is not about herd behaviour, rather it is about the astounding possibilities that exist between horses and humans. It is about achieving the elusive relationship of which is often only dreamed.

Sonora Carver was an American entertainer, most notable as one of the first female horse divers. Carver answered an ad placed by "Doc" William Frank Carver in 1923 for a diving girl and soon earned a place in circus history. Her job was to mount a running horse as it reached the top of a forty-foot (sometimes sixty-foot) tower and sail down along the animal's back as it plunged into a deep pool of water directly below. Sonora was a sensation and soon became the lead diving girl for Doc Carver's act as they traveled the country. In 1931, Sonora was blinded, a retinal detachment, due to hitting the water off-balance with her eyes open.while diving her horse, Red Lips, on New Jersey's Steel Pier, the act's permanent home since 1929. After her accident Sonora continued to dive horses until 1942.
"A story of strength and undying friendship. Nancy shares a beautiful triangle of mutual love between her dogs, horses and herself." Dianna L. Nadja King Editor, Horses For LIFE Publications Did you know that a horse can be your best friend? Four years in the making and beautifully illustrated by the author, the adventures of Clifford continue in book 3 of the "Clifford Horse" series. It begins when Nancy's trick dog Scorch is diagnosed with lymphoma. Her Morgan horses Clifford and Trudy carry her through the days that follow, as Scorch goes through chemotherapy and Nancy faces one crisis after another. This is an inspiring look at how animals can help us on our life's journey, providing spiritual guidance, and even making us laugh along the way.

Did you know a horse can have a sense of humor? This true story began when the author's first horse died. Grief stricken, Nancy went to the same breeder for another Morgan. She thought she was "settling" when she purchased an undersized two-year-old colt instead of the mare she wanted. She was in for a big surprise Follow the adventures of Clifford as he wins the hearts of those around him, while romping in the scenic wilderness of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Combined are tales of hand-fed chickadees, a playful hawk, a loyal German shepherd, and a unique way of life. This second edition includes the charcoal drawings by the author originally intended for the first edition, but were too detailed for the printing capabilities at the time. Hilarious, heartbreaking and unforgettable, this is a story destined to become a classic.

One day, at the age of thirty-one, Susan Richards realized that
she was an alcoholic. She wrote it down in her journal, struck by
the fact that it had taken nine years of waking up hung-over to
name her illness. What had changed?
This long needed handbook describes and illustrates with dozens of photos how equine patients should be handled when undergoing treatment. The schools, loaded with today's exploding technology, simply don't have time to provide the practical instruction necessary to the relatively few graduates who will be in equine practice. Far too many patients and personnel are injured every year, some seriously, and too much costly equipment is damaged by frightened and resistant equine patients. Such problems can be greatly minimized by an appropriate approach and skillful handling. Long time experienced practitioner and internationally recognized equine behaviorist Robert M. Miller, DVM was asked to produce this handbook which, although specifically aimed at students, will be of value to anyone who has to doctor horses.
