This is an educational book outlining how procurement has evolved and how it has to continue to evolve to incorporate ethics and sustainability. With lots of factual content, worked examples from the author's own experience and handy hints to help procurement professionals ensure that they are acting ethically and promoting sustainability throughout their supply chains, it has been written with an easy-to-read and digest style, free from "theory dump" situations and in a relatable style to people within and aspiring to enter the profession. Whilst aimed at procurement workers, the book will provide information and guidance which will be useful to sales representatives, HR departments as well as marketing and accountancy teams. This is because procurement is a function that is integral to any organization and has to work cross-functionally throughout a business if ethical and sustainable practice is to be introduced and upheld.

Companies across different industries are launching technology-enabled (digital) business transformation programs to improve their strategic, tactical, and operational supply chain processes. The greatest challenges that they are facing include the lack of preparation and knowledge of the digital transformation life cycle and poorly addressing or neglecting the ""people-related"" aspects of them. Therefore, improvement initiatives have been short-lived or incomplete, and expected business benefits have not been achieved or materialized. Technology Optimization and Change Management for Successful Digital Supply Chains is a pivotal reference source that provides vital research on the application of digital business transformation programs to improve strategic, tactical, and operational supply chain processes. While highlighting topics such as maturity models, predictive analysis, and communication planning, this publication explores the limited literature in the field of digital supply chain optimization and business transformation, and complements it with practical and proven tactics from the industry. This book is ideally designed for program managers, engineers, students, and practitioners seeking current research on the field's latest best practices on digital supply chain enablement.

Supply chains are the lifeblood of any business, bridging the distance between producer and customer, supply and demand. However, for a long time leaders have considered supply chain management to be a support, cost-added activity, something best kept out of sight and out of mind. Instead, this guide's purpose is to convince business leaders that supply chain management can be used as a business leverage for value creation and competitive advantage. Now more than ever, agile and resilient supply chains are vital in coping with uncertain markets and volatile world events, driving sustainable development, boosting current business models, and even simulating the creation of new ones. This book sets out the terms and paradigms necessary for an understanding of the supply chain, illuminates the types of value supply chain management can provide to businesses, and covers the solutions that business leaders can implement to reap the benefits of a value-creation supply chain approach. Next Generation Supply Chains breaks down this complex, nuanced field with helpful explanations, detailed diagrams and testimonies from leading businesses, laying out why an understanding of supply chain management is integral to any business leader. Written by Michel Fender, an expert with over thirty years' industry experience in advisory, training, technical and management capacities, this is an essential guide to the subject.
An Anthology in Modern Supply Chain Management Strategies provides students with a collection of readings that explain the concept of supply chain management in simple, everyday language. The chapters feature modern, recognizable examples, rendering the subject relatable and engaging. The anthology begins by providing students with an introduction and definition of supply chain management. Each following chapter addresses a critical concept related to supply chain management from an introductory perspective. Specific topics include inventory management, forecasting, logistical processes, sustainable supply management, and more. After each reading, follow-up questions help students further their understanding by encouraging them to reevaluate the chapter after reading it. Developed to pique students' interest in the field and present foundational information in an easy-to-understand manner, An Anthology in Modern Supply Chain Management Strategies is an ideal textbook for courses in business.
Over the past decade organizations have faced relentless customer demand for better value at less cost, individual customization, greater choice, faster delivery, higher quality, exceptional service, and more recently - increased environmental and social consciousness. The organization's "weapon of choice" to address this increasing demand has been the supply chain. However, as the supply chain footprint changed (e.g. outsourcing, off-shoring and customer/vendor empowerment) so did the organization's exposure to uncertainty. Organizations were taken by surprise since this exposure was unanticipated, complex and beyond their ability to manage. As customers become more demanding and change occurs at an even greater pace, supply chain risk continues to propagate like a parasite. Organizations and societies are at much greater risk of systemic failure because of the massive interdependency throughout global supply chains. The priority now is two-fold; play catch-up and address these massive gaps while deploying more intelligent and integrated strategies (i.e. social aware, instinctive, dynamic and predictive) for dealing with continuous change. "Single Point of Failure: The 10 Essential Laws of Supply Chain Risk Management" uses analogies and dozens of case histories to describe the "risk parasite" that infects all supply chains while revealing methods to neutralize that parasite. The book addresses the questions: What are the "single points of failure"? How exposed are customers, investors, other stakeholders and ultimately the organization? What is the measurable impact (i.e. brand, financial, strategic, and non-compliance)? Who establishes the "risk paradigm"? How does the organization efficiently and effectively allocate precious resources - time, people, management attention, and capital? How is success measured? This book is both technically powerful and effectively realistic, based on today's complex global economy.
