Walking around the commercial streets of New York, San Francisco, Milan, London, or Paris and looking at the succession of multinational chain stores' windows, you can easily forget what country you are in. However, if you hear the small talk among the employees, you hear very different stories. In New York, a 30-year-old woman is worried because she does not know if she will work enough hours to make a living the following week-whereas, in Milan, a mother of the same age knows she will work 20 hours a week but is concerned about whether her contract will be renewed at the end of the following month. Following three years of fieldwork, which included 100 in-depth interviews with front-line retail workers and unionists in New York City and Milan, Front-Line Workers in the Global Service Economy investigates both the lived experiences of salespersons in the "fast fashion" industry-a retail sector made of large chains of stores selling fashion garments at low prices-and the possibilities of collective action and structured forms of resistance to these global trends. The phenomenal growth of both the world-wide tourism industry and
academic interest in tourism over the last thirty years has
generated great interest in tourism demand modelling and
forecasting from both sectors. However, the tendency for
researchers and practitioners engaged in quantitative causal
tourism modelling and forecasting to run many regression equations
and try to choose the 'best' model based on various parametric and
non-parametric criteria has been widely criticised as failing to
provide credible results. The aim of this book is to present the
recent advances in econometric modelling methodology within the
context of tourism demand analysis at a level that is accessible to
non-specialists, and to illustrate these new developments with
actual tourism applications.
The garment industry is one of the world's largest industries, yet
there are few sustained examinations of its importance to the
global economy and the very vital role that immigrant
entrepreneurship has played. Focusing on the garment industry in

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, sanctions were implemented that banned Russia from most international sports. As a result, sport governing bodies (SGBs) have made a marked shift in their tradition of neutrality, to a point of no return. In light of this, this book asks what is next for SGBs. It provides an analysis of the root problem that sport governing bodies have had with politics since their inception: a paradoxical treatment of neutrality. This can be evidenced by their awarding of Mega-Sport Events to authoritarian states and also through the SGBs' own desire to make a difference by promoting human rights and sustainable development. Good or bad, the author argues that their neutrality principles are invalidated by their actions. Offering interdisciplinary research with empirical examples, this issue is explored in an engaging, yet analytical way, making it valuable reading for researchers and students interested in sport management, for organisations and also policy makers.
