Patiently forthcoming with lessons your parents redacted, this book about sex for kids starts a necessary conversation that stresses consent, sex positivity, and the right to be curious about your body. The dialogue focuses on the dynamics of sex, rather than the mechanics, as Grandma reminds readers that sex is not marriage or reproduction, and doesn't look the same for everyone. Instead, each person's sexuality is their very own to discover, explore, and share if they choose. A refreshing, positive response to a child's questions about sex. . . . Above all, the author emphasizes that people have the right to make their own choices about sex, now and always. -SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL I love that it's Grandma giving advice. Some say the very young and the very old understand each other best, because each is closest to the unknown. -GLORIA STEINEM, feminist and author of My Life on the Road

Throughout the debate over how - and if - AIDS education should be taught to school age children, teachers who want to bring the subject of AIDS into their classroom have had few, if any, resources to guide them. This work responds to the need for AIDS education material with a practice-based, interactive curriculum that should enable teachers to effectively educate students about the risk of AIDS and HIV infection. It begins with a discussion of how teachers can create an environment of support for an AIDS education programme. Recognizing that AIDS education must differ for students of different age groups, the text presents tailored, age-appropriate material - what and how teachers should communicate AIDS information to young children, older children and teenage students. It also addresses actual methods teachers can use to influence their students' attitudes and behaviour by helping them to recognize problem situations in which risks might arise, and presenting them with the actual skills they need to protect themselves in such situations.
The Truth About Sex and Waiting ... Uncovered Purity. Sex. Boys. Waiting. There's something about those words that makes everything complex in a heartbeat, and raises more questions than answers. Is there something wrong with me if I don't kiss a boy after a date? Or am I doomed if I DID? What if waiting is just a one-way trip to life as a crazy cat woman? And what if I tend to, um, think about a certain boy in a certain way? It seems that the lady at church and your friends have two very different opinions on the subject. And "Your Budding Womanhood: Staying a Beautiful Flower for Jesus" just isn't cutting it. Bekah Hamrick Martin knows the waiting game isn't easy or straight-forward. In The Bare Naked Truth, she lays everything on the table-including some embarrassing moments-as she explores the honest, naked truth behind what God means by purity. With additional entries from popular authors, you'll see the bare naked approach to waiting isn't always easy, but it's worth the risk.
Book of the Year at the Summer in the City Awards 2017 Sexting. Virginity. Consent. The Big O ... Let's face it, doing it can be tricksy. I don't know anyone (including myself) who has sex all figured out. So I've written a book full of honest, hilarious (and sometimes awkward) anecdotes, confessions and revelations. And because none of us have all the answers, I've invited some friends and fellow YouTubers to talk about their sexuality, too. My book is for everyone, no matter what gender you identify as or who you fancy. We talk about doing it safely. Doing it joyfully. Doing it when you're ready. Not doing it. Basically, doing it the way you want, when you want. So. Let's do this ... ------- Doing It candidly and openly explores topics like masturbation, slut-shaming, pornography and consent, as well as how to maintain healthy relationships in a digital age.

Too Hot to Handle is the first truly international history of sex education. As Jonathan Zimmerman shows, the controversial subject began in the West and spread steadily around the world over the past century. As people crossed borders, however, they joined hands to block sex education from most of their classrooms. Examining key players who supported and opposed the sex education movement, Zimmerman takes a close look at one of the most debated and divisive hallmarks of modern schooling. In the early 1900s, the United States pioneered sex education to protect citizens from venereal disease. But the American approach came under fire after World War II from European countries, which valued individual rights and pleasures over social goals and outcomes. In the so-called Third World, sex education developed in response to the deadly crisis of HIV/AIDS. By the early 2000s, nearly every country in the world addressed sex in its official school curriculum. Still, Zimmerman demonstrates that sex education never won a sustained foothold: parents and religious leaders rejected the subject as an intrusion on their authority, while teachers and principals worried that it would undermine their own tenuous powers. Despite the overall liberalization of sexual attitudes, opposition to sex education increased as the century unfolded. Into the present, it remains a subject without a home. Too Hot to Handle presents the stormy development and dilemmas of school-based sex education in the modern world.
