Based on the findings of research studies and on the author's long
experience of working with people with dementia, this work provides
updated perspectives on the condition. It shows how evidence is
lacking to support the model of dementia as a disease, and explores
the possibilities of psychological intervention for remediable or
enduring cognitive losses. Taking an honest look at what we really
know about dementia and how we can learn more, this should be
useful reading for medical and mental health practitioners,
researchers and students working in the field.
