Die Antike Rechtsgeschichte hat an der Universitat Wien eine lange, glanzvolle Tradition - und in Peter E. Pieler heute ihren prominentesten Vertreter. Die zwoelf Beitrage dieses Bandes sind aus drei internationalen Symposien hervorgegangen, die an der Wiener Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultat zwischen 2001 und 2007 stattgefunden haben. Die Beitrage stammen von profilierten Wissenschaftlern und Wissenschaftlerinnen aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum, aus Ungarn, Italien und Griechenland. Der von den Autorinnen und Autoren gespannte Bogen reicht vom altgriechischen Recht uber das fruhe und klassische roemische Recht bis zum Rechtsleben des byzantinischen Mittelalters. Exemplarisch werden Probleme der Entwicklung, Interdependenz und Rezeption antikrechtlicher Konzepte und Institutionen prasentiert. Ancient Legal History at the University of Vienna is known for its long, illustrious tradition. Today, its most prominent scholar is Peter E. Pieler. The twelve contributions to this volume derive from three international conferences, which were held between 2001 and 2007 at the Viennese Law Faculty. The papers were delivered by scholars from German-speaking countries, from Hungary, Italy and Greece. The topics treated in the volume comprise amongst others Ancient Greek Law, Early and Classical Roman Law, and the life of the law in Medieval Byzantium. The authors' discussions focus on issues of development, interdependency and transfer of concepts generated by the laws of Antiquity. This book is written in German.
