Developed form a major research report for the Department of the
Environment, this book presents a comprehensive analysis of the
problems experienced when the the green belt restraint was
implemented around London. Attitudes to land-use planning changed
rapidly: planning powers devolved from counties to districts: and
regional planning was largely dismantled. This book fills a major
gap in the literature by critically examinig the Metropolitan Green
Belt. This book was first published in 1983.
